Would like to know if it’s common for OoS students to establish IA residency to gain in-state tuition. It’s my understanding that Iowa is a stickler for preventing this sort of tactic. Is this accurate? Any tips/guidance would be greatly appreciated.
I am do scared that I won't be getting my AA due to one class and my offer will be taken back, I've been trying and it's second semester bio, but I really want to go I don't want to just not go because of one class is their anyone else that has still been able to transfer with a lower GPA then mine? I know this is stupid but I really like the campus and want to go
Hey, I will be joining ISU in the fall as an international student Junior from the UK studying business.
Where would you guys recommend for housing on-campus?
Hello everyone,
I have a quick question. I will be spending a semester abroad at ISU next semester.
I have now drawn up a provisional timetable, can you perhaps tell me what the courses are like and how time-consuming they are. Unfortunately I have to take 6 courses to get to my home university if you know a very easy subject where I can adapt that would be great. Thank you

Anyone else feel like ISU is not for them anymore, but only for young rural white men to find a place where they belong?

Here's the main quote from Wendy in the article.
“So one of the first things we did was establish learning communities so that a young man—young white man—from rural Iowa, could come and be in a learning community and find the place where they could belong,” she said.
out of all the courses in my cpre major this is the course I want to take the most

Hey all,
Taking 309 this coming fall. I hear it's all about getting a good group. What's the best way to pair up with people who are gonna carry their own weight?
Cheers
CALLING ALL ISU STUDENTS!
This is your last chance to complete this 5 minute survey and make sure your voice is heard! Diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts, especially concerning LGBTQ+ students, are being restricted in Iowa. Where do you stand on these widely discussed issues? We know what legislators, organizations, companies, and professionals think: But what does the most affected population feel towards these issues and changes? I want to collect an unbiased sample of opinions and I hope you help me achieve that goal by participating and sharing the link!
Follow the link below:
Many respondents have requested a copy of the results once they are gathered. I am willing to share the results with (strictly) ISU students on the condition that my survey receives 100+ responses so I can ensure fair representation within the results. Please comment any thoughts or suggestions for other ways to share this survey. The data gathered so far (48 responses) has been more than compelling. Let me know if it would be best to share the results on this subreddit or somewhere else if our goal is met. Have a great dead week Cyclones!
Hi! I got accepted to the graduate program in Biochemistry. Being an international student from India, idk how to navigate the housing option. Please help out with some of the queries I have:
P. S. Might just be overthinking. I'm very very new to international travel🥲
Hey everyone! I'm considering moving into building 11 at Freddy Court and was hoping to get some insights. It's a 4 bed setup for 4 people. Could anyone share how close it is to the bus stand and if there's any noticeable noise from trains nearby? Also, I have a dual monitor gaming setup with each screen being 27 inches. Are the desks there large enough to accommodate this?
hi, could you guys tell me what would be the cheapest honors housing option - single occupancy ? also, which meal plan works best. Also, if you plan to stay during the summers, is AC required?
So can i get like a D- to D+ and still pass?
Why

What apartments offer 6 month leases for studios or 1bd? I know Campustown has a some but I don’t really want to deal with them if possible. Thanks!
My internet has been going out intermittently and I just wanted to see if this was an actual internet issue (as the signal light on my router suggests it's not getting anything from the wall when it happens) or if the router is just crapping out

Is the bathroom/restroom good and clean in Friley or is it better live in a suite to have a more private and cleaner bathroom?
Hello! I'm going to be a DS senior graduating in Spring 2025 and was wondering what anyone's experience in CPRE 487: Hardware Design for Machine Learning has been like? I'm hoping to take it next spring right before I graduate if it's offered since I haven't taken the pre-req COMS 321 yet.
I am hoping if anyone knew if CPRE 487 is available in the spring usually, how useful the class is, and how hard it is. And also how bad COMS 321 is compared to other classes. (I've never taken a hardware class; the hardest class I've taken so far is COMS 311).
Do they curve at the end of the course? What is the policy?
Hey, I am currently a junior in CPRE, and I am planning to graduate early by the end of 2025; I am planning to do the concurrent program and was wondering which is better, a Master of Science or a Master of Engineering in Computer Engineering, when it comes to getting a job at a good company.
I have applied for Master of Science but I got admission for master of engineering due to not having an offer of departmental funding. What the pro and cons comparatively? Is it worth it? I'm pretty confused as all people in my circle have opted for master of science and I don't know anyone who did master of engineering. It would be great if I could get an insight. Thanks in advance
Looking for elective courses to take. I'd love to try BME 4470: Biomedical Design and Manufacturing because that would be right up my alley but that isn't being offered yet because the BME major is new. I was planning on taking Intro to Biomedical Engineering, but it has physics 2 as a prereq which I don't have.
I want to do things like make robots for hospitals or make bionic prosthetics. I also really enjoy the design aspect of the process and love using CAD (familiar with Solidworks and Inventor, considering Creo next).
I've completed 2 years of the Mechanical engineering major. I'd be happy to get any course recommendations from any field: Biol, microbio, chem, entomology, industrial engineering, electrical engineering.
I recently got a job on campus for the summer break and am looking for a studio or 1-bd-1-ba apartment. I was wondering if anyone has a place. If you do, please reach out to me.
How do you guys feel about the dynamics 4th exam?
I'm a freshman joining in fall 2024 majoring in aerospace engineering and I have a few questions and would love if people help me out please.
1: In housing, is it better to sit in a hall or a suite? and why?
2: Is A/C important?
3: Is the dining hall food good?
Thank you everyone for your time and support.
