Might be moving out there next year, and curious if anyone has lived (or spent a lot of time) in the Buckeye State and, if so, if there's an area or city in Ohio that you'd say "feels" like Ames. Any insights would be appreciated!
I had a great time being apart of this cable station. I remember breaking dancing on there, having a chance to enhance my experience in video editing and having an archive of my aunt as an Elvis imperator on the air on Cell Block C. I also miss the memory of working with the High School station in the 90s.
This is a screenshot from a video of a tour of the power station on duff Avenue, I tried reverse image searching and got no results. Any help is appreciated.
Hello! My girlfriend and I are fairly new to Ames and she is a runner. We are very close to Ada Hayden so that was great for the summer but it is getting quite cold! I was hoping to gift her a gym membership so she would have somewhere warm and safe to run through the winter. I am from an area with a surplus of YMCAs but I see that Ames is without one! Any recommendations for gyms/rec centers with a track? We are not ISU students.
Thanks!
My friend will move to soon to Ames (uni village). Any tips on how and where I can help him furnish the place affordably?
My first thought is second-hand stores like Goodwill and similar places, but I'm concerned about delivery. It seems like delivery could be expensive (as it often is).
Given this, our best option might be to rent a U-Haul, as most items probably won't fit in my regular car. We could then visit multiple shops to pick up the bulky items first day and then then buy the rest of the things with time?
I wonder is there a place where student's leaving would sell all their furniture, or a one-stop shop to buy most if not all things?
Thanks for your suggestions!
I know it's a long shot, but I live in North Ames in the Somerset Neighborhood. My bike was locked on the rack outside my apartment and it was stolen. Hoping someone has seen it or has details.
I rode it every day to work until my girlfriend had a medical event that kept her from driving, so I became her chauffeur. She can drive again so I was about to go back to riding my bike to work, but now it's gone.
Thanks in advance for any details.

Looking to see someone about some skin issues I’ve been having
I don't enjoy the undergrowth, was considering waxing but would prefer to do professionally as I don't trust anyone to help, not even myself. I have questions. _
_ 2. If a man seeks this is it considered deviant behavior? Like is my asking for it making ppl uncomfortable or is it just another day at the office for them? I just don't want to look like a perv or ruin someone's day with my scrote.
_ 3. Is it worth it? How long does it take nether hair to regrow?
I am not yet committed but I'm in the preliminary research phase.
Who knows tires for EVs in Ames? I have a MY and don't don't don't want to pay Te$la if can help it.
I'm having some issues with my air intake system and was curious if anyone has some recommendations for a mechanic. I'm looking for a trustworthy mechanic that'll do the job right without throwing an unreasonable number at me. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
Current student at ISU and failing hard at staying on top of things. If anyone else is feeling the same way about their life, perhaps we can provide a little social pressure to eachother to staying on track.
My schedule is the most open on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. If this sounds intriguing, feel free to shoot me a dm!
Suggestions please for an attorney local to Ames that can update our wills and POAs.
I’m a small woman who lives alone with daughters. I want to learn to shoot a gun, and basically all about guns.
I abhor guns and gun rights enthusiasts, but with the social climate getting more dangerous for women I figure it’s a good time to learn to get over my aversion. (I have had three men hold a gun to me when I was young, my feelings of revulsion in guns is warranted.)
So anyway - does one learn at a gun range? Do I need to get a gun first? Gun safety classes? What do I need to know?
As the title says I'm thinking about running a Pathfinder 2e Campaign and I'm trying to see if anyone would be interested. I would most likely DM, I have little experience with Pathfinder itself but I do know quite a bit about DND and I wanted to try Pathfinder. I'm a Student at ISU, 25 years old. If you have any questions ask them below and I'll try my best to answer them.
As the title says, I am looking to meet somebody special:) I am very shy and socially anxious as I am autistic. I prefer more laid back environments and relaxed people. I would like to meet a woman my age, willing to go a little older or younger but not too far in either direction.
I am very nerdy and geeky. I also love animals and I do not particularly want human children.
If this post peaks your interest, message me!
I'm trying to get a good job here in Ames but don't know where to look other than the university and school district. I graduated from ISU a few years back with a degree in elementary education and have a couple years of teaching/subbing experience under my belt, but I want to change fields. I applied to jobs at ISU before, but haven't ever gotten any callbacks after the first phone interview. As I said, I'm not looking to work at the school district. I've heard about openings at mary greeley, but it seems to be for RNs, tech ppl, & hvac engineers. Are there any other places I should be applying?
My temporary solution for now is to work retail part time and sub part time, but I'd like a full time salaried job with benefits.
I’m a graduate student looking at new apartments, and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with west street lofts? C the pictures online look really nice, but paired with the price it almost seems too good to be true. Would love to hear thoughts and opinions!
Somebody knocked over our 12 foot skeleton last night. We were going to dress it up for Thanksgiving. If anyone else had damage to their decorations last night let me know.
I am HORRIFIED to find out that the maintenance man for my apartment building and local properties here in Ames is not only a registered sex offender from years ago, but is also currently on hold to be extradited to Virginia for more charges. He’s been in my apartment on multiple occasions over the years. Minors live in these buildings. How is this legal?!?!?!
edit: in his mugshot, which can be found on Story Co IA Inmates on fb and on the inmate roster on the jail website, he’s wearing a Haverkamp shirt. I am in one of the properties under Haverkamp, Artisan Ames, but I noticed his shirt says HP so idk if he works across properties. You can find out more by googling his name. I found out the VA charges by searching his full name in their courts online database.
Anyone having issues with metronet right now?
Looking to relocate. I currently live in a similar town in IL (Bloomington) and love the vibe but want a change. Would you recommend Ames as good city to live in? All responses appreciated
