Recommendations on herbs for pain anxiety and reliable vendors

I have chronic anxiety pain and ptsd and like to stay away from prescription meds. I found blue lotus extract recently a huge help for my anxiety. And also microdosing mushrooms. I want to try ghost pipe for pain and was wondering if anyone knew of any good reliable places to order herbs and any others I might should try?

Seedlings knocked over when watering

I’ve tried several times to grow herbs from seed, but every time I water the pressure from the water knocks them over like this. I poked holes in a plastic water bottle top to make it a weaker stream, but still this is how they end up every time. Any suggestions??

New cilantro smells amazing

Okay for context I am not a big cilantro fan. Its great in certain things like salsa and many hispanic dishes, and maybe I've grown into it, but I still get how some people think it tastes like soap too. Anyways I'm growing some this year, along with all my necessary herbs... basics like rosemary and thyme, basil, dill, onion and chives, parsley, etc. The only one i can smell right now is the cilantro. Its SO good. Does anyone else have some brand new cilantro coming in? Its so strong. Go smell it. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

Soaking herbs

I have several books on herbs and none of them really go into information that I’m seeking when it comes to tinctures or preparing herbs to consume..

One question is about allowing herbs to soak in water and drinking this cold vs brewing as a tea. I like to just grab something sometimes that’s cold so I prepare teas that sit in the fridge with various different herbs (nettle, comfrey, Gotu Kola, Brahmi etc). I understand that water has a different polarity than alcohol and pulls different things, but I want to ensure that the process is beneficial (of course I’m sure it is, but I’m curious how beneficial, or if hot tea should always be preferred, or maybe there’s a certain herb that’s more beneficial this way that I should focus on?).

Are there any books that go into specific herbs and complexities of working with them? One that’s research based and brings their own experiences into learning as well?

I would also say that I’m more interested in concentrated tinctures for healing so finding a booking that really goes into this more would be great. If you have any recommendations or good sources would love to hear them

Is this Lavender dead?

For context, located in zone 6, central IL. I forgot about it over the winter and didn't bring the pot indoors. It's a grayish color. Do these go dormant or do I need to pitch it and plant a new one? Weather has mostly been in the 50s through 70s with rain the last few weeks and my other plants have started to come back.

Best method to wash wild harvested herbs that might have bacteria?

I wild harvest herbs from my yard and I know we have raccoons, cats, rabbits, squirrels, and even bears go through our yard. When doing a Google search, all that I found is rinsing herbs with cold water. However, in the past I’ve heard that you can use vinegar or baking soda mixed into cold water and they do a better job at cleaning. Do you have any advice on how to best clean wild harvested herbs that have potentially been urinated on - or hopefully not, but maybe pooped on - by wildlife at some point? It seems like a cold water rinse wouldn’t fully do the trick.

Pregnant- sleep tincture?

Hello,

I’m 7 months pregnant and am having a hard time sleeping. I bought this tincture for my boyfriend and asked the lady if I could use it too-she didn’t seem concerned just warned me that It was made with everclear. It’s not the alcohol that I’m worried about because obviously it’s a small amount that will be ingested but it’s the herbs in it that I want to be vetted by people and not google. It has valerian, skullcap, passion flower, lavender, hibiscus, hops, thyme, spearmint, rosemary, chamomile.

Just smoked blue lotus flower and it feels like a high!

I quit weed 2 months ago and wanted something else to help with my anxiety. I was skeptical at first but this is really nice.

I recommend it! I grinded it up and used my bong to smoke it. Enjoy :)

Herbs that make your body smell good.

I took an herbal remedy from an herbalist years and years ago which gave me a peculiar smell. I was wondering if there are any herbs that are safe to take that improve your natural scent/body odor.

Help! Making a bug spray out of pennyroyal!

I am not taking pennyroyal internally so I am not concerned with side effects associated with it being taken that way. I want to create a bug spray out of pennyroyal and am wondering if making a tincture out of it would work as something I can spray on myself when I'm outdoors to repell bugs; I'm always one for avoiding toxic chemicals! I was planning to use the folk method of soaking herbs in alcohol and shake every day (from my understanding, that's filling a jar halfway with dried or fresh herbs (dried in this case) and add enough alcohol to cover the herbs entirely. I bought 80 proof vodka for this. Does anyone think this will be good enough to simply repell bugs? or do I need to add other essential oils or use something other than alcohol to make it? I also have sunflower oil and extra virgin olive oil! I am very very new at this so any tips are welcome! Thanks in advance! :)

herb lotion/ointment?

hi everyone! i am new to using herbs, i have a 2 year old and it seems everything has soo many harsh chemicals that could be avoided if i just make something at home lol. im trying to make a lotion/ointment kind of thing with calendula and comfrey, the calendula i have is dried but the comfrey is powdered, how would i go about making a lotion out of it? i have shea butter, beeswax, vitamin E oil and the herbs. i honestly dont know if this would work but i was thinking of melting the shea butter and then putting the calendula and comfrey in and letting it kind of absorb the herbs? i dont know if that works tbh but thats why im in need of some help! do i even need the shea butter or can i just use the beeswax?? not sure lol. any tips are very much appreciated thank you!

Mint prop actually works.

I was out walking my dog when I saw this section of mint on the sidewalk (it was a little longer than this). I trimmed it up a little and sat it in water (just used a take out lid). This is day 6, I think it’s growing super fast!
