good for a beginner or no?
Hey guys. Does anyone know if the neck pickup being like this is a problem? I recently bought this kinda expensive guitar and the pickup was straight before, i don’t really know what could’ve caused this. As far as I can tell, it doesn’t noticeably affect the tone. Any advice on how to fix this is much appreciated!!!!
Looking to order either a SL2MG or SL2H, all I can find regarding the differences between the two is that the SL2H is handmade and the SL2MG is not, and a difference in pickups(emgs vs duncans). Will I really notice the difference between the two for the extra $2000 CAD? I like to play a mix of metal/rock and instrumental(like satch/vai).
I attached to this post a Wiring diagram I would like to do for my strat. I wanted to make a couple additions to it and was wondering if somebody could make me an updated diagram! I would first like there to be the standard one volume two tone control strat setup. I would like to add the mod to make one tone for neck and middle pickup and the other for the bridge pickup. I would like it to be wired fifties style. I’d like the neck on and series switch to be a mini dpdt switches instead of push pull pots. Finally I would like to change the wiring so that when both the neck on and series switch are enabled position one has the neck and bridge pick up wired in series and also position four has the neck, middle, and bridge pickup all wired in series. I would like to thank anybody who is willing to make this diagram in advance as it is very helpful!
Hi!! So I’m looking to get my boyfriend an acoustic guitar for christmas, right now he has a really old acoustic and a fairly ok electric guitar, and I want to get him a better acoustic, and was looking for brand recommendations.
I am a student so my budget isn’t extremely high but I also want it to be nice so I was looking at maybe a mid to low budget but I’m not really sure how much a guitar should cost anyway? If anyone has any brand recommendations or can break down the costs of a bad guitar vs a good guitar and like what a mid range price should be I would be beyond grateful for that.
Thanks
Can someone tell me what guitar technique that is at 1:35? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_EMo1Gt8_X8
Hey everyone just bought this fender acoustic electric guitar and I wanted to know why is the make and model stamped over the sticker? I'm asking someone put a new sticker on it but what would be the reason for doing that besides the old sticker falling off I just want to know anyone info about this situation or guitar in general because I don't find very many online and I can't find the model number anywhere online in terms of fenders model number dates. Any info would be nice thanks!
Been thinking about getting one lately I just don't know what exactly to look for or what's a good brand to get anything really. I definitely want to go for a shoegaze type of sound. Was hoping I could get steered into the right direction

(Apologies if this is not the correct Subreddit to ask for advice, or if I did something wrong. I am new on Reddit so pardon any errors.)
Hello! I am a rookie electric guitar enthusiast, and I have been fond of playing guitar for a while now.
As much as I am highly excited to buy guitar, yet I can't buy one for myself due to family matters and due to lack of money.
However, playing guitar is one of the many hobbies I wanted to try out, and I fear this motivation dies out and it becomes some sort of a phase.
So, I was planning that once I finish college, and settle down to live alone, I will buy myself a guitar, but it won't happen for a long time. That's why I came here to seek help in how I keep this motivation alive until the time is right and buy my first ever guitar!
Mainly, as the topic's title suggests, I need to find ways to learn how to play guitar without owning one, but I also wanna know if there are any tips that will help me, like: How do I choose guitars? How can I improve my hand coordination? Etc...
There are many questions I would love to ask, but maybe when their time comes, I will ask away!
Took this guitar to a shop to get a restring, because I wanted heavier strings and didn't want to do the truss rod myself. I noticed the action is WAY higher than what it was. I mean, yeah it's a $200 guitar and Medium strings, but Yamaha says the action should be .070"-.102" and so it just seems kind of extreme. The shop told me that their tech would make sure they adjusted the truss rod and ensure there was no fret buzz, but I don't know whether I should consider this acceptable work? I mean, I'm not saying for $50 that I expected him to do a total setup, but maybe I should call them and ask if maybe he forgot to adjust this one?
tl;dr action on my Yamaha FG800 raised about 1.5-2.25x higher than factory specs going to .53-.13 Medium gauge strings, and I wonder if I should ask the shop that strung it to review their work or if this is normal.
I have a really cheap chair and since I am sitting a lot on it doing work as well as playing guitar I started to develop posture and back problems. I really hope you could help me find something relatively inexpensive but good quality. Thanks!
I have an old SX strat clone that I learned on from about nine years ago. Its body is nice but everything else about it is pretty crappy. I want a guitar with a humbucker bridge/P90 neck (Absolutely adore the Reverend Double Agent but don't really want to spend a grand right now). I was thinking of using this old SX and just putting some Seymour Duncans and some upgraded hardware (saddles, pots, pickups, tuners, nut, pickguard) in it but that adds up. I always welcome a project but for the price of about $400 without upgrading the neck it almost seems silly to build on this $120 starter guitar from China. What do you think? Does anyone own a Reverend Double Agent?
Hey everyone, been playing some metal style music in dropped tuning (C standard) and am noticing that my low C string has this boomy/bass-y sound to it. Don’t really notice it at all with the other strings and only hear it when it’s that string played by itself. Playing on a standard explorer with stock burstbucker three pickups? Almost wondering if it’s a pickup or string height issue? Open to suggestions!
I want to play radiohead on my acoustic guitar but i don’t know what strings i should get, or even where to start, please help me if you can
Hello awesome people of reddit,
I'll try to keep this short and to the point.
I've got a 2017 Fender Standard SSS Stratocaster, MIM. and I'm looking to upgrade the pickups. My problem is that with I can never get a good overdrive/distortion sound with it. It's always either too flat, or too noisy. I understand of course that its partially the limitation of the single coils. I like and use the clean tones, but sometimes I also like to play with more overdrive. I'm mostly into classic rock, Sabbath, Maiden, Floyd..etc, so I don't think I need something with a super high output, or too "clean".
Anywho, I was thinking maybe Duncan JB at the bridge. I can go for the single sized one, or a full sized one since I think the guitar is routed for a humbucker at the bridge. What do you guys think?
I want to buy a second guitar, as I don't feel comfortable playing with my current guitar (it was a fairly cheap one, but of very low quality), unlike when I've played with other guitars, with which I have felt more comfortable. I''m a beginner/intermediate guitarist, so I don't know much about guitars, but the better quality ones, are they more comfortable or easier to play, or do they sound better? And, should I buy a guitar for this reason, or is it just a problem with me? I would really appreciate it if someone could answer, and if they could give me recommendations of guitars that are comfortable to play and that are somwhat affordable. Thank you very much.
Seen YouTube reviews of this guitar and they all say that it is decent/good for its price ($419 AUD). I'm not sure though how honest the reviews are due to them mostly being sponsored videos. I want to gain other opinions
I've been playing for around a 10 months now on an acoustic Yamaha FG400 and I'm getting the hang of things.
I want to buy an electric guitar but the options are pretty overwhelming! Playstyle wise I wouldn't say I've played long enough to say "I'm good at this" or "I hate this style" etc and I've dabbled in a little bit if everything with numerous different guitar lessons and courses. The music I like and want to play more of is definitely more rock oriented and I enjoy (attempting) to shred.
I already have an Amp that was given to me so financially would just make sense to stick with that obviously, it's an Orange 20RT so something that would work well with that if anyone is the know.
Price range would be up to about 600 dollars. Advice on shapes or particular models is much appreciated!
I've been thinking of getting this pedal:
Cool distortion pedal
The only gear I have is 1 cable, my mini amp, and my guitar.
My amp: amp
Anything I need to know or get before the pedal?
Or any other pedal I should get since the amp has distortion?
Thanks!
Idk what to solder together here my dean vendetta only had a red black and yellow wire Please help idk anything about this haha
New guitar player here. I’ve noticed my right arm starts to go numb from how it rests on the body while strumming. I have a hard time positioning it and wondered if this means the body is too big for me. Is that a thing? Thanks for your help 😀
