I'm looking to get a new guitar and what I'm looking for is an electric hollow body with a warm jazzy tone. I have a tele, a strat, a gretsch, and a semi-hollow reverend and I am aware I can achieve that tone with what I have but I played an ES-175 at guitar center when I was 18 and wish I had money to buy it back then. So what guitars should I look at besides the 175?
What Christmas jazz guitar tune are you currently playing/ working on this Christmas?
I am working on Kenny Burrells White Christmas- (free transcription pdf on anyonecanplayguitar. )
How about you guys?
Basically title. I'd like to improve my ability to target chords tones on the strong beats during solos but I'm not sure how to best go about practicing that. Anyone have specific exercises or even books that help develop this skill?
Big into transcribing the great horn players. Freddie, Adderley, Diz, etc. But i am fried. Interpreting the glissandos, trills, all the fourths, it's getting to me. Could use a friendlier solo, from a guitarist would be a plus.
I actually went to transcribe some bluesy country, chicken picken solos and it was REALLY nice. It felt like taking a long well needed and deserved breath but I want to get some usable language out of it.
Anybody have any suggestions? I like straight ahead shit but it could be more modern as well. Kinda just want to have a lightly stimulating transcribing session, more for fun than anything else.
Also, I don't always transcribe entire solos. Actually, as of late have only been picking up my favorites lines so if there are any that are not necessarily totally characteristic of what I'm talking about that would be cool too.
Thanks in advance guys I know it's kind of an annoying ask.
EDIT: Big thanks to everyone for the suggestions. Prior to yesterday, I didn't give much thought to Jim Hall. Now I'm ready to copy every note he ever played.
Thanks again guys!

My 12 year old Ibanez Artcore AK95 is showing its age. I had to pull out all the wiring through the f hole and resolder the jack a few months ago. Now it's starting to go bad again, and there's noticeable rust spots showing up on the humbuckers and other metal parts.
I use it every day at home for practice and carry it out about once a month inside a case to play. Other than that I leave it on a stand at home but not in a case. I'm not in a particularly humid area.
I've loved this guitar, but 12 years seems like a pretty short lifespan. It's the first electric I've owned, so is this normal for an electric in the $600 range? Should I have kept it inside a case at home? And if I replace it what's a better guitar for durability and jazz sound that's under, say, $1200?
I've been working on some jazz etudes, and a met doesnt really do it justice. I like the interface of tonal Energy. For either android or apple, preferably both.
Hey all
Was browsing some local classifieds looking to pick up a used semi hollow body and came across these two guitars, both from the same seller.
Anybody know much about either of these models? I can find some general information online but not a lot of reviews.
I know Ibanez gets a lot of praise for their budget artcore series (esp in the $500-1K range), but this model was made in China and I haven't heard or seen much this run of Artcore guitars made in China.
I've heard good things about high end D'Angelico models, but I don't know much about their budget models. This model was a limited run made in Indonesia from what I can see.
I don't know that the specs would really be different enough to sway me one way or the other and am wondering whether one guitar would be meaningfully better than the other in terms of quality.
If not, I'm probably leaning towards the D'Angwlelico and will put the extra $100 into setup or upgrades.
Any thoughts or feedback would be appreciated!

"Maa on niin kaunis", "Schönster Herr Jesu", is one of the most popular hymns in Finland that has often been sung at Christmas time. The melody comes from a collection of Silesian folk songs published in 1842.

Have nice waiting for Christmas!

I'm following the instructions and it still sounds like I'm playing muted strings. Anyone else have their own technique in executing this sound well? There's a great video of Hirofumi Asaba who executes the sound pretty well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=35PE2JVAdmA
Do you recognise this piece, tried the online app’s but drawing a blank
