No racism, sexism, homophobia, or any other hate speech of any kind.
No trolling/baiting comments/posts
No harassment.
2) No Advertisements/Self Promotion
Please refrain from self-promotion or advertisement of your own content or services unless explicitly approved by a moderator. There are plenty of places for you to self promote on the internet, this is not one of those places.
Discord links are NOT allowed without moderator approval. They will be automatically removed.
3) Utilize the NSFW Tag
If you are going to post a photo of a deceased or severely injured animal, please mark it NSFW!
4) No porn/gore/abuse
Animal abuse and neglect is strictly prohibited. This includes photos of animals deliberately being put in harms way, and comments/posts about animal abuse in a positive light.
NOTE: Cohabitation is in fact, a form of neglect.
No porn should be self explanatory
5) Use a descriptive title and search before posting
If asking for help or advice, please use a clear and descriptive title, as well as additional details in the post body.
"HELP!!" is not a good title, it says nothing about what kind of help you need, and is quite low effort.
"What is the best substrate for a leopard gecko?" is a much better title, it clearly states what kind of help you are looking for without coming off as low effort.
You should also search the subreddit before posting your question, it is highly possible that your question has been asked and answered previously.
6) No posts asking to buy or sell
This subreddit is not a marketplace, nor do we have infrastructure in place to prevent scams. Find another forum to buy/sell in.
7) Stay on topic
Posts must be related to geckos in some way.

Hi, I got a Tokay Gecko. I would like to ask how handle it so I don't hurt it and drop its tail. I have had him for a while, he is very shy and attacks my hand. I would need to move him somewhere else for a while to redo terrarium. Thank you for all the replies.
Hello Gecko Lovers! I have absolutely zero experience in caring for reptiles, but a ton of experience caring and breeding fish! Recently I learned about the viper gecko (hemidactylus imbricatus) and I realized that it might be a reasonable and interesting gecko that I could keep.
I'm not here for questions on general care though, I want to know if this is a reasonable gecko for beginners, what do you like about these geckos, and anything interesting or concerning you have heard or witnessed about these geckos (like medical issues).
Any insight would be helpful though thanks!
I swear, when she was at the pet shop she looked like a normal gecko. Brought her home pupil’s dilated, head started spinning, and I could’ve sworn she spoke in tongues. Strange things keep happening since she came home. There’s two FBI agents sitting in an Impala parked right in front of my house. I’m worried she might eat my soul as I sleep. Should I put a salt ring down? Maybe, give her a good mist with holy water?
Disclaimer: I know the tank needs more clutter, will slowly add to just waiting for my local pet shop to restock on some stuff Got Petunia today she’s had MBD for a while now just giving her a loving home the picture has a red hue because I have red curtains that the sun shines directly through
You are so very cute my pookie wookie snookie
Hello, everyone. I understand my question might sound weird to people who love geckos, but here I have so many INTO my house, my mental health is really deteriorating. I have spent the last 2 months in the countryside and every day I am throwing out from 1 to 3 geckos. Lizards stay outside and keep a distance, but geckos are incredibly invasive here. We are talking about the Mediterranean species. I can't sleep properly since I am here too. The ceilings are very high and wooden, that is where they mostly hide. I hear them walking and I find their waste everywhere: on my kitchen top, k in the sink, on the table, on my bed etc. This is incredibly distressing for me. I don't believe there are many insects to eat inside. I have tried different types of deterrent but nothing works. Sometimes, I have succeeded to chase them and push them to go out. But they really like it inside. We are not talking about 1 or 2, we talk about tens and tens. I please need help to get them out.
she’s limping and bites me whenever i try to inspect the wound
His name is Earl and his game is being cute and hanging upside down
I have a pair of Uroplatus phantasticus and today was the grooming day for the Ficus plants in their terrarium. I use a scissor to cut the branches and leaves because they can cover the whole lamp. During the procedure I saw the female but did not find the male phant and suddenly I saw blood coming down from the part I was cuting… i cut down one of the leg of my male phant… i never did something this stupid. It is a clean cut and the bleeding stopped. I put betaisodone solution to the cut and I put back the animal to the terrarium. I saw it drinking afterwards. I now have a horrible guilt. Is it possible for him to make it??
Help!
I don't feel safe in my own home... every night my gargoyle gecko, after turning off the lights, emerges from her cave! Once I hear her scrabbling around in her cage I turn on a flashlight... only for her to be PERCHED and STARING at me every. Single. Night.
Am I cooked? How long do I have?
My gecko is very well accustomed to me picking her up and taking her out to give her enrichment playtime. Today she was rested above her usual rock where I pick her up from; so I went for it, however when I picked her up and began to raise her from rock she started squirming in my hand very very very rapidly and and then jumped about 3 seconds later. When I pick her up I scoop my fingers under her belly and make sure her hands are rested on my hand. She is still outside not hidden however at the other side near her water.
I did recently change her set up and add new plants, however because the aloe Vera I had grew too tall , I gave her some plastic mini aloe Vera. I saw another person had them in their set up, but I wasn’t sure exactly if it was okay, I bought them at the pet store and washed them with salt water and dawn dish soap to disinfect them well. I also added a few toys inside for her to play with a ping pong ball which she has moved a few times, and some toilet paper rolls which she seems to love to move around in.
Just really concerned why she freaked out if she is accustomed to being handled and when she knows what play time is. I think she might like my husband better than me. I’m also pregnant and have started pumping too? Do you think she could have smelled me? I washed up before I attempted to take her out.
My collection consists of skittish gekkonidae geckos so I pulled the trigger and bought a Sara. It’s nice being able to handle an arboreal gecko and them being so chill about it. Thinking I’m going to name him after something from magic the gathering lmfao…
These past few days I have noticed that my crested gecko has been getting really dark and is almost black now when he used to be a way lighter brown and almost greenish. Is there anyway I can help him destress or even figure out why he’s flaring up so much? I was gone for about two months, but came home at least once a week (usually 2-3 times a week but I had a period where it was only once a week) to check up on him and i didn’t notice this until I finally came home this past week. He is still eating normally and seems to be all around normal, could it just be because I wasn’t home for a while? I’m just a bit concerned and not sure how I should go about this.
