Please send us a modmail if you have additions to make to this list
1) Be Civil
No racism, sexism, homophobia, or any other hate speech of any kind.
No trolling/baiting comments/posts
No harassment.
2) No Advertisements/Self Promotion
Please refrain from self-promotion or advertisement of your own content or services unless explicitly approved by a moderator. There are plenty of places for you to self promote on the internet, this is not one of those places.
Discord links are NOT allowed without moderator approval. They will be automatically removed.
3) Utilize the NSFW Tag
If you are going to post a photo of a deceased or severely injured animal, please mark it NSFW!
4) No porn/gore/abuse
Animal abuse and neglect is strictly prohibited. This includes photos of animals deliberately being put in harms way, and comments/posts about animal abuse in a positive light.
NOTE: Cohabitation is in fact, a form of neglect.
No porn should be self explanatory
5) Use a descriptive title and search before posting
If asking for help or advice, please use a clear and descriptive title, as well as additional details in the post body.
"HELP!!" is not a good title, it says nothing about what kind of help you need, and is quite low effort.
"What is the best substrate for a leopard gecko?" is a much better title, it clearly states what kind of help you are looking for without coming off as low effort.
You should also search the subreddit before posting your question, it is highly possible that your question has been asked and answered previously.
6) No posts asking to buy or sell
This subreddit is not a marketplace, nor do we have infrastructure in place to prevent scams. Find another forum to buy/sell in.
7) Stay on topic
Posts must be related to geckos in some way.

I’ve had my baby Elio for about a year now and I’m very attached to him. When I moved into college I was told that I was allowed to get him (I made sure to check before bringing him home). I’ve switched dorms over the summer and my RD today told me that Elio is not allowed and needs to leave immediately. When I explained that my previous RD had told me animals in up to 20 gallon tanks were allowed, he said that she is new and that is why she gave me misinformation. I have no where for my baby to go. I got him to agree to let me keep him for a couple of days while I find someone to take him. No one I know is willing to take him because they all don’t like lizards. It’s very important to me that he goes somewhere that knows how to properly take care of him and I refuse to give him to a PetSmart or something like that. I’ve already posted him on home to home but I think people mostly use that for dogs and cats. Do you guys know of anywhere I could take him that would actually care for him well or have any suggestions? I live in San Diego.
Hello! So I own a 10 month old unsexed crested gecko and recently a friend of mine asked me if he picked out a crestie if I could take care of it for him for a while as he built up the money to take care of it. So naturally I said yes, I love to help out. However, I only have one tank that is currently occupied by MY crestie. Our plan was to put both of the juveniles together TEMPORARILY but I want to make sure this is safe and ethical. My friend wants a female and I don't know what mine is yet. Any advice?
Hello,
An outside gecko snuck in two nights ago. It’s one of the clear nocturnal ones. I think we startled each other when I opened my patio door and instead of going in the opposite direction, he zoomed past me into the house.
I’m in South Louisiana where it’s very humid and tropical so my air conditioning is blowing full blast. Not good, I know.
I think I hear him, but I never see him.
Is there anywhere I should look? Like if you were him, where would you be?
Is there anything I can set out for him to eat? My guess is he is an insectivore. So not sure how to set live bugs out in a 1200 sq ft home.
He’s a little fella, not sure if that’s common to his species or if he’s just a baby. So I know I need to act quick if he’s indeed inside.
I do have worn out weather stripping under my door and the front door has a tiny hole. Do you think he could get out somehow?
I know anoles aren’t smart at all, I learned that the hard way assuming it would move off my tire once I started backing up.
It breaks my heart because I’m outside so much, the lizards in my courtyard get used to me it seems. My pup and I don’t deter them in the least, they’ll run right under our feet to catch bugs or fight with another lizard.
Please help, I don’t want him to die on my watch.
I have a camera in her enclosure and I can see when she is out... She sometimes doesn't even come out for an hour...
I never really see her other than feeding (which she sometimes stays in the hide when I feed her too)
Is her hiding 23/7 normal?
Any advices for a baby gecko? All the other ones I got were big so it was not a big deal, but now I got a little baby I want to make sure I do everything right, please let me know
Recently noticed this odd blob in my geckos eye. It’s new and I have no clue what it is or what to do! Can anyone help? Ideas?!
I've had him for about a year he's a Mediterranean house gecko, any name ideas?
I have a enclosure and I want dune geckos for it but don't know where to find them
lol
Working from home. I look over because I see something moving and I notice this little guy staring at me. My little stalker
I’ve had my wonderful crested gecko for about 1 year now, and I’m thinking about getting another gecko! I’m looking about getting a different species with somewhat similar care? Arboreal species are definitely my jam. I’m not looking for any fancy morphs or anything either. Any ideas or recommendations?
Hi guys! So, this morning I was cleaning up my crested’s tank to see isopods had made a small colony under his water dish! Really I’m wondering can they just appear? I’ve never put isopods in there, but I am doing bioactive! Really I’m kind of excited, because it makes me feel like I’m being a good reptile keeper! Anywho, just wondering if they just appear or how the heck they get into tanks without being put in them?
Thank you to anyone who responds <3
