No racism, sexism, homophobia, or any other hate speech of any kind.
No trolling/baiting comments/posts
No harassment.
2) No Advertisements/Self Promotion
Please refrain from self-promotion or advertisement of your own content or services unless explicitly approved by a moderator. There are plenty of places for you to self promote on the internet, this is not one of those places.
Discord links are NOT allowed without moderator approval. They will be automatically removed.
3) Utilize the NSFW Tag
If you are going to post a photo of a deceased or severely injured animal, please mark it NSFW!
4) No porn/gore/abuse
Animal abuse and neglect is strictly prohibited. This includes photos of animals deliberately being put in harms way, and comments/posts about animal abuse in a positive light.
NOTE: Cohabitation is in fact, a form of neglect.
No porn should be self explanatory
5) Use a descriptive title and search before posting
If asking for help or advice, please use a clear and descriptive title, as well as additional details in the post body.
"HELP!!" is not a good title, it says nothing about what kind of help you need, and is quite low effort.
"What is the best substrate for a leopard gecko?" is a much better title, it clearly states what kind of help you are looking for without coming off as low effort.
You should also search the subreddit before posting your question, it is highly possible that your question has been asked and answered previously.
6) No posts asking to buy or sell
This subreddit is not a marketplace, nor do we have infrastructure in place to prevent scams. Find another forum to buy/sell in.
7) Stay on topic
Posts must be related to geckos in some way.

He's that one skunk gecko you may have seen here at least once, and he never dies. Yes, I am aware of that suspicious scab. It was just a dead piece of skin from a recent molt and I was able to gently remove it. He previous had this before though in that exact spot and I removed it prior as well. But first I gave him antibiotics around his mouth until I realizing it's hanging dead skin from a molt.
He seems to display healthy energy and appetite, and likes scream at me when I take him out to play. He also likes open his mouth when I get a hold of him in hopes of eating me alive, and he did that tonight, so I stuffed him a cricket in his mouth to eat! 🤣
So I am looking to get a gecko preferably small and easy to care for since I do not have that much money for a huge tank around now maybe a 30 ish gallon tank I can afford I also have a screen top top opening 20 gallon tank but the screen mesh is broken on the top due to my two cats though they would not be a problem now. I also have a ball python recently obtained like a year-ish and I am hoping to expand my reptile family. If you have any suggestions / maybe even tanks and materials it would be much apreciated. I have done reaserch into dune geckos but can not find any breeders/ care guides but if you have any I would apreciate that too/
I just got an 8month gecko today. I named her lychee. I know handling within the first two weeks is not recommended. For 2 weeks is hand feeding inside the cage (if she wants) a good way to keep her comfortable with me without impeding on her space??
So, I made a crested gecko tank large enough that it could comfortably house up to 4, maybe even 5 crested geckos, however I currently have two (females of course) that live in there as I generally try to give my animals larger tanks then they need.
I recently discovered that you can buy flying geckos and I am ecstatic. They appear to be on my level, and I have started doing research on their care. I noticed they have similar needs to my crested geckos, and I could theoretically have a tank that works for both of them. If I can keep them together.
If all of the lizards are female in a large tank, would it work, or would they still be territorial? I realize that I could have done more research about this on my own, but I guess I'm lazy because I came to reddit.
about a month ago i lost my blue boy:( he was doing great and one day i noticed those weird spots and then the next day he was shedding so i thought that’s all it was, then the day after he was no longer with us. i know these guys get fungal infections pretty easily so i’m assuming that’s what happened, i just want confirmation.
She has a black spot with some veins I do not know what to do
I don't mind having them around, eating insects, but they have been rummaging my trash lately, what are they looking for?
Do they eat human leftover food? Fruits? Meat? Cheese? Bread?
I do not have the medical expenses to provide for my leopard gecko. He has a swollen eye and he’s not been eating or drinking. I’ve come to decide the best option for him would be to rehome/surrender. I’m not sure what the process it like. I’ve called the Longmont Humans society and they won’t accept him. Does anyone know any organizations or rehabilitation or anywhere I could take him in the Loveland, Fort Collins, Greeley, Longmont, Boulder, (Weld/Boulder county area.) I just got off the phone with NOCO humane society in Loveland and they said they would have to euthanize him. Please if anyone has any helpful suggestions on what to do I’m all ears. I can’t afford to take him to the vet so again that’s why I need to find a place for him to get proper care.
Our 3 year old named her. We are obsessed with watching her - we don’t handle to reduce stress. She’s a great hunter
Any recommendations or links to what I could get my leopard gecko? She’s been having trouble shedding and has a very restrictive diet due to being sick and poor eyesight that doesn’t allow her to hunt, so I was hoping there was some kind of supplement or vitamin that could help her out!
This little baby eats and shits and everything, but I think it looks a little slim. I fed it today and it devoured two XL fruit flies in no time.
I have a fairly large bioactive arboreal enclosure (22x12x25) established and ready for one or a pair of micros, but I’m realizing the more I research that there is very little solid information on different species. What would you guys recommend as far as an arboreal, tropical micro species? Maybe even diurnal and bold in temperament? Does such a gecko exist? A friend of mine keeps mourning geckos, and I think they’re pretty neat, but the parthenogenesis has me looking for something a little different. Any suggestions or advice is helpful!
