I hate that the threadalog app only has the ability to catalog the basic numbered floss… I can’t log anything else, like ecru, perle, metallic, my wool or the variegated floss. I also scored at an estate sale and have lots of vintage DMC floss skeins and the discontinued numbers don’t show up either. Are any of the other apps better for these types of skeins?
I’m a novice sewer looking to get into machine embroidery as well. I’m very into embroidered clothes and would like to customize my own with custom graphics/designs. I also have a small business and am considering using the embroidery machine for some (very limited, monochrome) logos on clothing. (I don’t anticipate selling a lot of these items but would like the option).
My budget is $500-1100 for a machine. I’m open to a 4x4 design, but have narrowed my decision down to the SINGER SE300 or BROTHER SE1900 since they offer slightly larger hoop sizes.
Looking for any feedback on what people think? I know many say singer has gone downhill, but I see there’s pros and cons to both brother and singer. Specifically, I’m a little intimidated by the software side of embroidery so any insight on user experience would be really helpful.
My most recent finished piece, Shototoro and Chutotoro (from My Neighbour Totoro) in single strand shaded embroidery. I wanted to capture the style of the Ghibli art whilst making them look more realistic, sans outlines and with fur texture.
I redid the hobby lobby logo as slobby knobby. This is the problem with my brain.
I was really inspired by shimunia’s pieces on instagram (this is the best I could do to copy one of their designs, but I had to freehand most of it due to inexperience). It’s so fun, I could spend the entire day doing this if my fingers and back would cooperate! I’ll consider investing in a stand if I can finish at least one piece 😂
I’m working on a beginners embroidery kit where it asks you to fill in small areas around a closed rose buds with outline stitch, my question is. . .
Can I do one line of outline stitch in one direction and work back the second line in the opposite direction in stem stitch?
I’m still trying to get my head around the different between the two stitches other than the loop of thread being mirror images of each other) or is it best to just do lines of outline stitch all in the same direction and just weave my thread through the previous line on the reverse to get back to my starting point again? I’m really trying to keep the back neat on this project? Tia
Took over 20 hours! All single strand :)
Someone mentioned recently that I should join the EGA, which I hadn’t heard of. I’m self-taught (with a heavy assist from YouTube) and I would love to hear if anyone is involved with EGA, what they think, if it’s worth joining, etc.
hi friends, i’ve been embroidering for about a year now, and i’m feeling ready to try new things. i’ve recently seen some embroiderers on various social medias using some app where they upload an existing picture, put a “layer” over the photo to trace, and then take the traced layer and turn it into a pattern. i’ve tried to do this on apps like canva and adobe, but can’t manage to figure out how to put a layer over a photo i want to recreate. does anyone have any advice on apps they use for this or other tips and tricks? if it’s necessary, im taking a photo of my wedding bouquet and trying to turn it into a pattern.
TIA!
Hello, I'm new to the embroidery world, I've started cross stitching just on Sep-Oct maybe, I'm very interesting in learning more embroidery stitches, I love how "thread painting" looks, I'd like to start but I don't trust my ability, I think I'll be more comfortable starting with satin stitch only and then moving to other stitches..
Can someone recommend a nice pattern that uses satin stitch only? And can someone recommend what type of fabric should I use for that?
Thank you in advance.
Traced then sewn
Working on many studio ghibli embroidery work actually
Seem to have lost the paper with the colors and stitches… doing pretty decent, but getting sick of the satin/straight stitches! Big bottom leaves are gonna have a leaf stitch, but what do ya think?
my first “freestyle” project; I just started embroidery at the end of last year so any tips and tricks are appreciated 🥹
Hi!
I'm a beginner to embroidery. I've been working on some basics in order to eventually be able to custom hand sew a design onto clothes.
The piece I'm looking at is a linen jacket. My big question is, it seems that it's not super common to tie the beginning or the end of stitches with a knot. However, how would one secure their stitch on something that eventually is going to have to withstand the washing machine or even the outside elements. Appreciate any suggestions or advice!!
No planning for this one. Just thc and followed my gut
My skirt got stuck in my bike. I was thinking of embroiding some flowers, a tree, maybe bamboo shoots or even just mending it with fun colours to cover up the stains. The fabric is not torn.
