Hello! I am hoping somebody here might be able to recommend me a world map pattern. I’ve been searching and searching but can’t seem to find one in the aesthetic I’m envisioning.
I want one where I get to backstitch all the country names over their landmass. I don’t want one that is only colors or pictures but no actual information like on a real world map. I’ve seen a lot of those on Etsy.
I have also seen the old world stylized map patterns on Etsy and although they are aesthetic they aren’t exactly what I’m thinking of.
I have a national geographic world map poster on my wall and I would like to do a pattern similar to that world map style, sorry for the poor quality photo, the one I have is more beige tones but I’d also be happy with something more traditionally colored ☺️
If any one has any recommendations I’d be very happy to check them out! Thanks!

Hi, I read in a post from 2y ago that pattern keeper allows you to convert a white and black pattern to color but I don't seem to find that. Does anyone have experience converting their chart to colored ones?
I’m mentally preparing myself for 17 hour flights to/from Australia and I need to do something useful to keep from losing my mind. What have you found most useful when stitching on flights? Thanks!
Got this kit as a present a few years ago when I was new to cross stitching. Started a bit but was too large and a big step up from what I had previously attempted. Now got around to continuing! Hope you like it. Kit from Joy Sunday
Hello, I am going to be stitching a pillow cover for my mom for Christmas with her favorite sports teams' logos. I'm still fairly new to stitching though and I'm not sure what fabric to use for the best results. The patterns are for 14 ct and I know I want the fabric to be black and washable. I am considering getting a 28 ct even weave so it will feel nice once complete, but I know that the 14 ct I got from 123Stitch was actually pretty soft.
TIA for your suggestions and advice.

Yesterday evening we were sitting in the backyard and granddaughter went inside to use the bathroom. The toddler followed her. About 5 minutes later I came inside to this! G-granddaughter had her head under the couch, trying to hide. All I said was, “Oh, my.”
Sigh. I have it all untangled and putting them on floss drops. It’s figuring out the last 4 color numbers in shades of beige that is the stumbling block now.
Here’s my current project, I just finished all the dark brown thread
It got me thinking, I always do my projects 1 colour at a time, is that a good method? This is only my 4th project and I enjoy doing smaller/simpler ones (l like the satisfaction of finishing something!)
What do you guys do?

Hi, i wanted to request a commission for a pattern from a image. I bought the image and wanted to make a pattern of it.
And this is only the pieces I've washed recently. Waaay more to wash still.
a question that gets asked here a lot is about washing finished projects, specifically whether or not the thread is colourfast.
the consensus is that, unless it's hand-dyed or very cheap thread, hand-washing projects in cold/cool water is fine. i can attest to that (mainly with dmc, though i did my first embroidery project with cheap thread from amazon, incl. a bright red, and it was fine).
but sometimes, hand-washing doesn't cut it. i stitched this piece 3.5-ish years ago, then put it away because i didn't want to hang it anywhere. i figured i'd wash it if and when i ever changed my mind. big mistake. i took it out again recently and saw that it had a really grimy, beige/yellow section of white fabric in the top left corner where i'd held on to the fabric while stitching. i hand-washed it as i usually do, but that didn't help at all.
i'm not attached to this piece and the thread is dmc (supposedly washable up to 95°c), so i figured i'd toss it into the washing machine and see what happens so i could let everyone know whether that's a good idea or not. since i didn't want to ruin any clothes in case the thread did bleed, i washed it with my old bathrobe at 60°c, maximum spin, regular detergent, no fabric softener.
result: absolutely no bleeding. not even the dark blue or green. so i'm happy to report that dmc thread can absolutely safely be washed, even at 60°c in the machine.
two notes, however:
your aida will end up with nasty creases that you might not be able to iron out again. as you can see in the photo, there are several creases still, and i've ironed this wet and damp several times. ah well. 🤷🏻♀️
if your fabric isn't white, THAT might bleed and ruin your thread. even quality fabric. i once machine-washed a bit of beige zweigart linen with white and dark pink stitches on them, and the white stitches were the exact same colour as the fabric afterwards, and even the dark pink had a beige tint. so if you ever want to stitch something that's meant to be machine-washed (table runners/cloths, towels, baby clothes, pillowcases etc.), pre-wash the fabric!
I loved how this turned out! It was a joy to stitch. 🥰 Pattern found in comments! This is the second bookmark I stitched from this shop. 🥰
