I had to pop it in the microwave for a minute!
Sure they’re not blowing over any trees but when you need them they’ll be there for you
Let’s hear it donerheads. What should the bossman have? Yoghurt sauce and mayo? Is it good he has both so a choice can be made? I know a few folks aren’t fans of mayo.
Should the garlic yoghurt be jazzed up? Little bit of mint in there?
Come onnnn you know you have a preference
Help Best Iskendar Kebab near Birmingham don’t mind driving half hour, never had it before keep seeing photos got my mouth watering
I never weighed it but definitely over the kilo. Chefs special kebab, Ruby's Stepps.
Doner and chips - Wapping fish bar (reposting as used wrong picture).
£10 on Deliveroo so imagine much cheaper in store. Large (was £1 extra).
Probably the best diner I’ve had from a chip shop - meat crispy and shaved thinly. Not your usually grey shite. Must be a more expensive generic elephant leg as the meat had seasoning. Not a world beater but I’d get one from there again to scratch the itch. The chips were amazing, crispy outside and fluffy inside, especially considering it’d travelled for 15 minutes to get here, was all piping hot.
Not the best picture but I was hungover…
£10.50 delivered.
When in Frankfurt for business! Bossman could only offer garlic or yoghurt...
We all have our favourite go to doner/kebab/shawarma establishment
I want to know where you are in the world, what’s your ‘usual’ order and how much does the Bossman charge you for the goods. Wraps, fries, drinks, extra pot of pickled chillies. The whole lot. Whatever you usually get.
I’ll start.
Southern Scotland. Chicken and lamb mixed shawarma wrap, chips n cheese and a can of Rio. £13 all in. Bargain and quality shines through

This restaurant was originally an Arabic/Iranian style restaurant and first opened in 2013 or so. I actually was one of the first group of people to visit it. Back, then, Ali the owner is a great host and always served great dishes, snacks from Iran. He named the restaurant after his son. When Ali worked there, he used to entertain customers with his kebab slicing and preparation. The kebab back then was always delicious. And he did mentioned that the pita was shipped in from Iran. But, since then, i haven't been for ages, as i moved further away. Looking at the old posters, they served lamb and beef, but i always thought it was only chicken.
Anyway, it seems a Nepal couple have taken over and serve Nepal curry but still have some Ali san recipes and dishes on the menu.
The kebab marinate has not changed, as the staff told me. The bread has! but ohh my, it so delicious and soft. I has the texture of naan bread, but a slight crisp edge. The kebab price is higher than normal places, the meat portion was ok, and the chilli sauce was smooth. I presume this price is based on it being a restaurant, and not a typical boss man shop. I think the meat could have been warmer... but it is all about timing when getting it cut off... But definitely a place to check out.
Lamb & chicken doner - 13 quid
Not often you see a doner from Devon here so am sending my friend’s (not on social media) which is a large lamb doner, sauce and salad from The Bear Inn, Wiviliscombe. Doner van in the pub car park. Bossman showing low skills at getting the meat in the pitta but this is offset by high quantity of lamb doner, served in a box. Just putting this out for some city/countryside balance.
Off to Cologne in a few weeks. Mostly to visit the Christmas markets, but if anyone can advise on a good döner around the Hansaring or a bit further out that is worth a trek for?
Photo is of the last one I had in Düsseldorf earlier this year, from Mangal on Bolkerstraße.
This is the Mixed Plate around 16.50 for cuts of beef, lamb and chicken.
Depending on whose making it that day there might be 10-15 percent more meat all on top of a bed of dill rice.
I like to go to my local kebab house and order a large doner, then leave it until the next day. A few minutes in the air fryer and it heats it up nicely and crisps the edges. It's glorious. Don't judge me.
Ketchup mayonnaise on the fries
Decent quality meat and salad. Would have preferred pitta, but this type of bread roll is pretty standard for much of Germany.
To me, Capital are quite pricey but it truly is great quality homemade lamb doner.
