People in need with resources to meet their basic needs and change their situation
People who want to help with the most effective ideas to support those struggling nearby
Those who want to offer support with those who need, in a positive and safe way
Based on the idea that there are more people who want to support than there are people who need it, but most people don't know what they can do that will actually help, or how to reach those nearby who most need it
If you are homeless:
You can post your general location (town, city, etc) and other users will search for free resources nearby which can help meet your basic needs and help get back on your feet.
If you would like to support people who are homeless:
When someone who is homeless posts their general location support them by searching for free resources nearby and sharing them in comments under their post.
Please also post them on The Brighter Tomorrow Map as its a far easier medium to search and browse. Posts and comments in this sub will mostly get lost over time. Food, medical care, support groups, showers, toilets, places to charge devices, warm public spaces to shelter in.
Everyone:
Post your ideas here for non-monetary things which people can do, or offer to help people who are living on the streets nearby to meet their basic needs and find a path to a better future.
Safeguarding:
Please don't post ideas which involve someone who is homeless going into someone else's home, or another space alone as we don't want to encourage situations which can be taken advantage of by bad actors on either side.
Please don't post your exact location.
Please be constructive in your replies to posts, and help other users to shape their ideas. We're all exploring this together.
Where to find more resources:
This subreddit is connected to The Brighter Tomorrow Map, an effort to change homelessness around the World through greater connection. There you'll find a map of free resources available nearby, and things kind people nearby are offering to do to support you.
Please note:
This sub is not for raising money for charities (despite all the great work many of them do). Its for people coming together and making change happen themselves. Thank you for being a part of that!

Hello, I work with an organization that is trying to secure hygiene kits for homeless and vulnerable youths in the Seattle area. Would anyone here know of great ways to secure hygiene kits either for free or at low cost? Thank you!
Hi, I‘m a student at Kingston University. I'm working on my master final project which focuses on the volunteers for the homeless. The following survey is used to get an insight. All the workers and volunteers who have supported the homeless are very welcomed to participate in this survey. If you know people related, could you send this form to them? I really appreciate your help!
If you’re interested to be part of this growing team and help lessen the number of homeless people around the globe, just tell something about yourself below!
Its only a test post.
Denver, CO area (we can access anywhere the light rail goes)
I have a circle of acquaintances I’m cautiously thinking of as friends in the Denver area that are worse off than me. (I sleep in my car. Which can carry a comfortable number of blankets.) We had some initial success finding and utilizing food resources, but as this crisis has worsened and more and more sites have reduced (or eliminated) their hours of operation, we keep running into low-supply issues. Eating cold-can stuff isn’t bad compared to that.
So, I’m requesting anyone that knows better than me how to get hold of these places offering food to find out if and when they can still help us to tell me how best to poke at them. Or just add it to the map? They don’t seem to have enough volunteers to answer their phones. Or emails, so far.
We used to be able to microwave our Ramen / oatmeal / canned whatever at gas stations but now they’re adamant about not letting in “outside food.” Even if it’s in the original packaging. (Stupid virus...) And of course convenience store food is expensive, might as well get a McChicken if it’s gonna be like that... ugh. Thinking we’re going to have to invest in a hobo grill and tea-lights no matter what. Would be hard to screw up mashed potatoes at least.
