Hi all! I'm living in Georgia. I've been living in a hotel for a while but got behind due to work being slow (I'm a server) but now facing homelessness due to it. I got my work permit and started living here in Canada, and just opened a Canadian bank account. 4 days ago I wire transferred my entire US savings to this new Canadian one because my card won’t work anywhere here. I thought it would go through in time for rent. I know that was dumb, please don’t comment on it I just need advice.

My rent is due this evening and I need $100 CAD to cover the rest of it. My bank advisor told me my wire transfer will go through likely on Tuesday or Wednesday next week.

I can’t apply for loans here because I have no credit established in Canada, neither a Canadian history of employment. I got approved for a newcomer credit card yesterday but it won’t be available to me for at least a week.

Over the last 2 months I’ve had my share of financial hardships, and while i’m trying my best to get into a better spot, there are still some necessities that i cannot get.

I had to move out on my own for the first time, very suddenly and unexpectedly. I spent all of my savings on a security deposit, first months rent, moving supplies, and a doctors appointment + medication.

I paid my rent this morning and while I was able to cover all of it, I cannot afford to buy anything else until my next check (2/14/25). I have the exact amount that my bus fares will cost until then and that’s it.

My primary/more urgent need is new shirts for work. The other items would be greatly greatly appreciated but I can wait and most likely purchase them for myself later.

Hello there friends! Trying to stay positive through a string of bad luck and even the simplest food items have become so expensive that it's difficult not to go hungry most days. I was unexpectedly laid off from my job without severance recently and finally got unemployment benefits after having to appeal their first decision because my previous employer did everything they could including blatantly lying to prevent it. I had been working mainly for tips at that job so my unemployment benefits don't even cover all of my rent, so I've been selling off all my belongings just to make ends meet. My mum has been painting again in the past few years as a way to help her ease her anxiety. She paints pretty much all day every day, and still doesn't see how good she is!!

She has severe agoraphobia and PTSD, so she doesn't leave the house. Like. At all. Ever. :(

However she's been an absolute gem and got me through some of my darkest times, whilst also struggling herself.

She still believes that she sucks and she deserves to not feel that way anymore. I want to make her feel even a fraction of the happiness that she had.provided for me in the darkest of my times.

I’m 24F, working as a physiotherapy assistant. I graduated with kinesiology 2 years ago and it took me a while to find a job in my field but I finally did— and I love it!

I wanna go back and get my masters in the next 5 years. In what, I’m not completely decided yet. But what I have decided is that I will be moving to Japan in March for about a year as an English teacher! I’ve already bought tickets and everything so I’m pretty set on it.

This isn’t by any means a career or money move. I mean, im open to where my career will take me as I don’t have any solid plans yet, but I know for a fact I won’t be making much money. I just wanted the life experience and the memories before I eventually go back to school and start working into my late adult years.

I had a conversation with my family and like always, they got in my head. Am I making a stupid move? My brother says that it’s best to stick with my current job for at least a year so that it appeals to other companies and offers apt translation before other positions. I don’t know if I want to stay for a year, but will I regret this?

I don’t even want to stay in physio for my whole life but I’m thinking maybe he’s right, and future companies will label me a “job hopper”.

Also, without a side hustle in Japan, I’m just going to be perpetually broke for the foreseeable future. I know this, I just don’t know if I’m making a mistake or not.

Hi, this feels pretty silly but I’ve had an extremely rough year or so, and I’ve hugely neglected my own needs in order to support others.
