Something that is open earlier in the morning so that I can make it to work after the hike. Preferably a 1.5-2 hour hike at the most.
I’d love some recommendations :)
Thanks!
Was walking on the LOBO trail in Gunbarrel yesterday around 5pm (prime time for bike commuters) and was doing my best to listen for bikes approaching from behind. I heard a few and stepped closer to the side. Only 1 of 3 said anything before passing even though the trail isn’t super wide and has low visibility in that section (near Gunbarrel commons just west of 63rd)
Then, I heard another coming up pretty fast so I stepped to the right side of the trail since that was literally a foot to my right. All of a sudden a 40 something year old woman was passing me on a large e-bike probably no more than 3 inches off my right elbow, as she apparently thought she would be able to pass me on the right. She ended up in the grass on a fairly steep section off to my right, and swerved back onto the trail in front of me and kept right on cruising along at 15+ mph.
She didn’t say a word and I have no idea how she expected to pass me without hitting me or calling out. E-Bike and rider combined would have probably been over 200-250lb right into my back at 15mph. This was also right before a “no e-bike zone” which she sped right on into and out of view.
This was my first dangerous encounter with bikes as a pedestrian so I was just sort of shocked at how this person was operating as if they couldn’t seriously injure someone. It put into perspective how badly someone could be injured by a fast and heavy bike. Be careful!
hello! i’m looking to see if anyone has had a positive experience receiving an autism diagnosis in the area, specifically with someone who has a good understanding of high masking, late diagnosis women. doesn’t necessarily have to be in boulder, im open to nearby towns :)
I am new to Colorado and would love a hike with an alpine lake or lookout where I can just sit and isn’t too busy. Any recommendations?
I recently found out that King Soopers donates to local charities if you link your card to a local organization. Their page doesn’t explicitly say how much but my local library stated its 4% which isn’t bad!
Kroger (King Sooper’s daddy) has +$30 billion annual gross profits, so do your part in keeping some of those dollars in the community and out of the board of director’s pockets (even though these donations are tax write-offs for them).
Taken last night. Originally went hiking for the sunset, found something better.
I need a dermatologist, but all the ones I've reached out to seem to be booking really far out. Does anyone know of anywhere that can get me in sooner?
Edit: thank you everyone for the great suggestions! I was able to reach out to a place that was suggested and got scheduled for a cancellation slot for tomorrow! I appreciate you all helping me out!
We are having a food truck the Sunday after our wedding for brunch for all our guests (about 100 people) but are really struggling on where we can host such an event. Would ideally be walkable to downtown but not sure if that’s possible. Any suggestions? Thanks!
Anyone know details or know what’s on the radio?
I was about to drive across the street when two cyclists with no lights or reflectors were coming down an unlit part of the road. I could barely see their shadowy figures and very easily could have hit them. They scared the shit out of me. 😅
For your safety and for the sake of drivers who do not wish to put someone in the hospital, please please use bike lights at night!
Is there an area in Table Mesa that has good trick-or-treating? I know there's a critical mass of kids in this neighborhood.
Title. Anyone know if I can just do that at king soopers or if there’s a smaller butcher shop that I could try?
The owner of Time Warp bought the location from Mile High Comics in 1984. Looks like he would like to retire but keep the store alive, if he can find a buyer. I'm not really into comics myself, but have read good things about the owner and the store and it's cool that Time Warp (and the nearby Book Worm) are still keeping print media alive in 2024.
We are looking at replacing our aging forced air natural gas furnace with a heat pump. We don't currently have AC (just a roof-mounted evaporative cooler) and we like the idea of adding cooling that is ducted into the rooms, unlike the evap cooler which just dumps cold air into one location.
But in my research I'm not finding a lot of descriptions of people's experiences with ducted central heat pumps; most folks seem to have minisplits. I understand they're more efficient in a lot of situations, but for our home we'd have to have like 8 or 9 minisplits (2800 square foot 1969 tri-level ranch, updated insulation but still not particularly tightly sealed) and the installers we talked to all said we should use our existing ductwork instead.
So - who out there has installed a central heat pump? What's your experience with it? Any advice? Thanks!
I was just told that there is a fatal crash on US 36 headed out of Boulder that just happened briefly ago. I am praying everyone is ok. I’m hoping to get some clarity as to what happened as I drive this road daily. Any information would be appreciated 🙏
Edit: Landed on waiting to get it at Savoury Spices tomorrow. Called Black Onyx cocoa powder.
My birthday is tomorrow and hoping to make a chocolate cake with these cocoas, but not sure where I can go on short notice to buy them. Didn’t see anything on Google. Thanks!
Hey Reddit,
My wife and I moved here just before the summer. We haven’t done any camping yet - mostly because it’s been so hot & dry, plus the wildfires. We were aware that campfires were a no-go so we just didn’t get out there much.
However, we definitely want to take advantage of the fall (best time to camp in my opinion). Anyone have any ideas on when they typically lift the campfire bans in the mountains of Boulder County? Maybe this year is an outlier and no one can really tell, but I figured I’d ask. Thanks!
Btw - Not sure if I need to be more specific, but we typically like to find dispersed camping off of 4WD roads. We haven’t explored a ton yet but I know there some good ones around Boulder Canyon and up the surrounding hills.
Does anyone know why it's closing at the end of the month? It is a favorite treàt of mine.
We've got an external lift elevator bolted to our house that is probably still functional and definitely still has scrap value. But taking it down safely and hauling it away is going to be pretty annoying and I don't want someone just unbolting it and yolo'ing through the fence. Does anyone know of any companies around here who handle this sort of thing?
I’m a student and am looking to meet others outside of school
Might be interpretable.
