A friend of mine is considering Denver in March 2024 as the destination for the bachelor party because we want something under 5 hr flights ( East Coast ) & he likes snowboarding & smoking bud lol.
Figured we can find somewhere within a 60 minute drive for Ski Resorts / Snowboarding as well as a possible Snowmobile Tour for a couple hours. He likes outdoorsy stuff so I feel Denver is a cool destination.
Trying to find the best option for a group of guys ( probably 10 ) to either find a resort or Airbnb to accomodate all of us and have cool amenities ( Pool / Hottub / Nearby Restaurants )
Airbnb would need at least 7 bedrooms.
Or if you think Denver is a wash, and we should go somewhere else. Let me know. All input appreciated.
Looking for recommendations for the best resorts/lodges that have “warmer” more comfortable areas to hang out (maybe a fireplace/nicer bar?) for the non-skiers who come out while others ride?
Specifically, looking at staying in Breckenridge, so Breck, Keystone, Copper, etc vicinity.. thanks!
I can get plane tickets to Colorado for $200 is it worth going anywhere on the epic pass these days or will everything be pretty closed
Got a buddy with an Indy that’s skiing 2 days. Would be down to split pak 50/50. Lmk if this is allowed mods because Loveland does allow 4 pack sharing.
Update: bought a 4 pack I’ll post when they arrive and see if people wanna buy 2 off me then.
This came into my head while at Copper today. Couldn’t find anything online.
Thinking of taking my gf for her first time on skis this Saturday. Does Copper or any alterra mountain for that matter have good learning areas open right now?
I am looking to get some laps in on my day off. Almost every Denver resort has about the same number of runs open. I'm trying to see my best option for Thursday, 11/14. I have both Ikon and Epic, so I am open to ideas.
I got an opening day for both Keystone and Eldora. I wondered if it would be worth the 2-hour drive from Denver to hit Copper.
Which 3 lifts are open at Copper right now? Found a ski in/ ski out place at Super Bee lift area, but I’m not sure if it will even be worth it right now. It would be for this weekend.
Regretted not sharpening the edges on the board I bought off fb marketplace before heading to keystone yesterday, idiot move. Couldn’t hold an edge in the icey sections, conditions were significantly worse than last week.
Obviously depends on snowfall and temp levels this early in the season, but any general guidelines on when things tend to soften out?
Still had a great time but gonna get a pro tune considering the board’s pretty old…
Trying to decide between Eldora or going on I70 for Keystone or copper, any recommendations?
Don’t want to pay the single price so looking for 4 people to go in on the group price. Update: All Spots Filled
I grew up going to HCSC on Mt Hood, went to college in Tahoe, and visited CO many times growing up. This was from 2000-2015 or so. All of the above always had amazing terrain parks that were almost completely new and unique each and every year. Places like Northstar, Breck, and Big Bear would even throw parks on random runs in given years if there were contests and would keep them up most of the year for everyone to hit.
After college I moved down to San Diego and rode Big Bear, which again, had an amazing park that took up almost the whole mountain. I was finally able to move back to the mountains 3 years ago but this time to Colorado.
Don’t get me wrong, I love the extra pow days here in CO, and everything here is huge compared to my east coast roots and even most of Tahoe…
Which leaves me to my question…. What happened to the Terrain Parks here in Colorado? WP, Copper, and Breck have done the same exact park setups each and every year. Even the early season stuff and some are hike only and not even on the side of a run. No creativity, no Mid-season change up, and certainly no surprise parks on different runs.
Maybe I need to spend some time at keystone or another resort (open to recs for next season)? Or maybe I was just spoiled at seemingly all the resorts in Tahoe and Big Bear and took it for granted? My concerning thought is that Vail and Alterra own all the resorts and get a better ROI on the overpriced restaurants and shops, so they’ve minimized park crews and budgets. It kills me that we pay over 300% more in 10 years time (far in excess of inflation or even s&p returns) while the mountains haven’t magically grown and terrain parks have seemingly only lost their progression and creativity.
I’m probably just a winey old park rat who wants to relive the glory days from time to time, but wondering if others have noticed this too, or if CO was always a bit stale in the park scene comparatively…
Anyone have a report on slope conditions for the few open runs as of today? Thinking about hitting breck or keystone tomorrow if it’s decent!
Edit: my group is full. thanks!
Looking to flex the old park muscles a bit, who is good rn for some light jumps, boxes, rail hits? Winter park looks good under endeavor just figured I’d post to see if anywhere else (copper, Eldora, keystone) is solid rn. I know its early
Look out
i have never been to colorado but i am visiting denver in the middle of december (around the 18th) and wondering how to go about snowboarding? We will be renting a car and we will be there midweek, is it reasonable to stay in denver and drive out to snowboard/sled? thinking about doing either a day or two worth of snow activities. does it snow in denver by mid december and are there any christmas activities to do? I want to do snow activities as well as christmas activities like see the lights or a play, etc
thx in advance!
Copper decided to drop some rope the last hour! Probably the best run of the day. Definitely icy and the top of exelerator has a ton of sharks..
Good coverage, Schoolmarm was clean, side hits were pretty deep. Had blowers running on most of the side trails, and it was snowing pretty good until I left at 2.
My partner and I are traveling to Las Vegas next April. After that, we have 10 days left in our vacation and would love to experience snowfall since we don’t get snow in our country. Where in Colorado can we find snowfall in late April to early May, especially for non-skiers?
I have this idea of taking my family (2 toddlers, 2 adults) from Denver to WP and back via train, Sunday to Tuesday at the end of this year. The snow train is running, but we can't do Saturday or earlier. Is it possible to take the snow train Sunday, and then hop the Frasier-Denver train on Tuesday? The issue is about boards and skis, and gear in general.
I can buy tickets on those dates, but will they let us bring snow boards and skis on in Frasier? There is also, strangely enough, an option to book from WP, to Fraser, on to Denver, via some weird use of a bus or something. Will that allow us to check out boards and skis?
Does anybody have experience with this sort of thing?
