Neighborhood pool?

Hello! We are looking into moving into the area, and am curious if there are any local/community pools or club pools in the area? Looking for a regular summer hang out spot with lots of kids/swim classes or potentially swim team. Thank you!

Louisville middle schools

BVSD- middle schools

We are moving to Boulder county in July 2025 and have an upcoming 6th and 4th grader. Does anyone have feedback regarding Monarch k-8 vs Eldorado k-8 and Louisville middle? We are moving from out of town, and will be attending the OE nights in Dec. But from afar we can’t get a good sense of the feel of each school community. Can anyone shed some light on the vibe or feel of the school community for these three?

Hello spirit buddy

No Tuesday morning agenda here. Just thought you’d like to see one of our local spirit buddies roaming the block. Or at least like it more than my dog who woke up the whole family barking.

I’m not entirely sure but think it might mean you’re going to have a real nice day.

Best Doughnut in town?

Me and my family are doughnut fiends and have grown tired of grocery store donuts. Does anybody have any recommendations for their favorite place to get a doughnut in town?

Bonus if it has decent coffee for my wife...

Via Appia Striping

Please respond City Ppl.. ( 99% of neighbors agree, so far)

Via Appia Striping. The striping on Via Appia from South Boulder Road to McCaslin is ridiculous and the project is a failure. They put the driver side wheel path for cars and trucks directly on top of the asphalt cold joint and right where the white skip lines used to be. #1 rule is to never put the wheel path on top of a joint (especially asphalt).

I’m pro bike and pro pedestrian safety but I only see pedestrians crossing Via Appia. Since the project was completed I’ve only seen one cyclist and they were using the sidewalk on the wrong side of the road. I use Via Appia 7-days a week and close to zero bikers use the new bike lane.

The road is going to fall apart if the wheel path isn’t moved. This was a $150,000 project and the cost to re-pave the wheel path WHEN it falls apart will probably be at least!!! $250,000 (I did math). That’s 3.4 miles of paving. We are already paying for pothole repairs.

There are three routes here: #1-put it back the way you found it (don’t fix it if it isn’t broken), no demand for this project, period.

#2-if you’re going to do it do it right! Make the bike lane bigger and have cars straddle the cold joint.

#3 neglect the problem until the road falls apart and you’re forced to re-pave (most likely). Via Appia will disintegrate within the year especially with freeze thaw this winter and we’ll have to pay for it.

This money would have been better spent on some underpasses or improving the scattered trail system in Louisville. Waste of money.

#Edit - I forgot to mention that Via Appia will be overlayed with new asphalt in about 3-years according to council records. So this $150,000 + project is literally a F Around and Find Out venture (FAFO). I would. It be posting this information if the new configuration aligned with the future asphalt cold joints. They are literally going to remove the striping in 2027-2028, until then we will be spending to repair potholes. Literally throwing away money.

P.S. Dear City council,

Please respond to my email ;). I’m looking for answers including the plan to fix this mess. If you’re reading this all but one of the responses (on Nextdoor) agrees this was a bad idea.

Love, Scott

I've been having fun with a T-Rex suit for Halloween and would like to continue the fun, and march in the Louisville Parade of Lights on December 6. Do you have a suit? Want to join me?

Louisville passes wild fire hardening building code

City council approved a code amendment for wildfire resistant construction on all new builds and major remodels in the city. Kudos to the council for finally getting this done!

However it is really disappointing that they waited until 3 years post Marshall Fire, when 90% of the rebuilds are in process or complete. If they had done this 2.5 years ago it would have made a major difference in the areas that have a history of fire. Such a missed opportunity.

Where are all the 30-50 yr olds?

Greetings fellow Louisvillites (“Louisvillians” sounded worse)! Newish to Reddit so please bear with me; this isn’t intended to be rant but an honest question…where are the 30-50 year olds around here?

Don’t get me wrong, I love all of you older and younger folks; I’m just searching for others near my place in life. I used to live here around 2013-2016, but moved a bit south, closer to Denver, for a while. During my time here, I felt like it was easy to encounter numerous others around my age at the store/gym/work/restaurants/etc. I always figured they were here for the same reasons I was…cost of living, generally safe, low key but still fun.

I’ve been back for a little over a year now and feel like an outsider; seemingly rare that I come across folks around my age, couples or singles, anywhere or anytime. I’ve hit the gym early/late, stores and restaurants (and bars/breweries) at any time, and just don’t see this age range out and about. I know Louisville and Lafayette have been “starter family sanctuaries” for a while, and I still see that to a limited degree, but nothing like in the past.

So, where are they? Did they all get priced out? Am I somehow missing them? Just looking for folks that may still be at an early/midpoint in their career and life to find friendships.

Thanks for sharing your perspective and any insight!

Lost Dog 10/6

I was out on a walk early (3am ish) this morning when an obviously scared Australian shepherd came running towards me. I called to him but he was pretty spooked and ended up running away. He had a collar on (it may have been red but it was dark so I’m not 100% sure). He ran towards Owl Ct. going east through the neighborhood near the Lutheran church. I called the cops who also went on the search for him but I don’t know if they had any luck.

Tl;dr: if you’re missing a dog call the Louisville PD!

Rules for holding back kids in BVSD?

Posting here and in r/Boulder. What are the rules about holding back your kids in BVSD schools if they are late birthdays or just delayed? We’re moving into the district 3 yr old will be one of the youngest in his grade if we don’t hold him back (and he is already speech delayed / somewhat shy). Am I allowed to have him repeat PK3 or PK4 in BVSD before starting K? Or am I better off keeping him in private / non-BVSD preschool until K so we can hold him back?

Volunteer opportunities at community gardens or farms in area

Hello everyone, I am looking to make myself useful and get my hands back in the dirt! I was fortunate enough to get a plot at a community garden space in the county a couple years ago and I had a wonderful time getting to know my neighbors and spending time in that space. Unfortunately life happens and I've had to center other priorities since but I now am in a place where I can put some good time into helping with green spaces :)

Does anybody know of spots in the area looking for volunteers/assistants? I am far far far from being a good gardener but I am very much eager to learn and grow given the chance!

Thoughts on neighborhood near Harper Lake?

Moving to the area from Chicago and looking at new build (re-build) homes in the area just east of Harper Lake in Louisville (Coal Creek Elementary). What is this neighborhood like? Are there many young kids? How do people like the elementary school? Anything I should be aware of?

Cornerstone neighborhood in Louisville

Looking at homes in the Cornerstone neighborhood of Louisville (from out of state). I know it is rebuilding from fire but is it a good neighborhood for kids to play in streets with other neighborhood kids? Seems like easy access to bike path. Any information would be so helpful. Thanks!

Moving

Hey all! My husband and I are colorado born and raised, BUT we have alwayssssss lived and worked on the eastern plains. My husband just took a new job in Boulder, and we are debating which town/subdivision might be best for us! I definitely don't think we'll be able to afford to live in the town of Boulder itself, so we've been looking at the little towns surrounding it. Here is what are our big considerations. We have 3 young children, so we want to be in an area where they can attend a genuinely amazing school since we will be coming from a small town with a lot of 1 on 1 time with teachers, so it will be a huge change for them. So we're looking for some of the highest rated schools in the surrounding areas. Safety and crime rates. Again, since we have young girls, we want to be somewhere relatively safe (i know in our world that's funny Imao) Since my husband will be working in Boulder, we also want to stay within a 30 minute drive give or take. My step daughter also lives with her mom during the week in Lakewood (which is a little too far from Boulder for us to probably live there) so we're hopefully wanting something in that direction ish so we can be between his job and his daughter if possible. Some of the options we were looking into were Louisville, superior, broomfield, Westminster, and Arvada. MAYBE northglenn or Thornton if there's nothing closer or the benefits of being there are just that much better. Also open to any other areas you'd suggest! What would you guys suggest! Where are the best schools? Safest areas? Best communities? Nearby Boulder but still somewhat close to Lakewood? Affordable? Still fun things to do?

Shamrock foods

The green color of their signs and the building are hideous! It blinds me driving on South Boulder rd. That’s all I wanted to say.
