Loveland, Colorado
Hello and welcome to /r/loveland
The City of Loveland was founded in 1877 along the newly-constructed line of the Colorado Central Railroad, near its crossing of the Big Thompson River. The City is south of /r/FortCollins , its larger neighbor and the county seat. The two cities have been steadily growing towards each other over the last several decades and are considered to be a single metropolitan area by the U.S. government.

7 year old 80 pound goldendoodle needs ACL surgery. Our vet quoted us $4,500. Just wondering if anyone has any vet recommendations that we could get a 2nd quote from
Does anybody on here who's lived here since the 90's remember that old Walgreens we used to have downtown Loveland on like 6th and 287where the new huge apartments are? Why did they ever close that down???
Just tried Infinity Slopes for the first time and OMG! It was so much fun! I went with a coworker who knows how to ski, she hadn't been skiing for awhile, so they corrected some of her body mechanics and she looked like a pro up there! For me, I have not been skiing before. They were so patient and kind teaching me the basics! It was only 1/2 hour, but my legs are like jello and I'm going to be so sore tomorrow. Bringing the kids for their first lesson on Saturday.
If you don't know what Infinity Slopes is, it is an indoor ski venue. Apparently, they are really popular in Europe and Asia, but we only have 6 here in the US. It uses a HUGE treadmill with a special carpet, but according to my friend it was just like skiing on the mountain.
Before I drop mega bucks for a ski trip here in Colorado, I'm going to have my kids learn here first. A LOT less expensive. I had never heard of this place until I talked with them at their tent at an event, and now I feel that I need to get the word out about them because they are really nice people with a very unique offering, and it is right here in Loveland. http://www.infinityslopes.com/
It’s not a band name but the yard we inherited about .33 acre. Any options/wisdom would be appreciated.
2023 - total complete overgrowth even dogs are sketched out; tried weed, fertilizer, aeration, overseed program by lawn company. Sprinklered via hose but no system 2024 - Few new grass strands. Mulched half of yard. Bindweed bonanza hand pulled March - September. Looked into xeriscaping. Garden in a box advises not for dead lawns; lawn company says no pt to aerate, use pre-emergent/overseed without irrigation system. Would need hours of water to bring back; look into synthetic ops. Definitely don’t sod w/out irrigation.
Issues: no irrigation system; brick hard soil; no shade & all trees were eliminated pre-us; dust aggravates allergies
Opinion on next step with the least likely chance of throwing away $
Thank you, That ugly ass neighbor’s yard (you know the one)
If anyone is interested in keeping apprised of the much needed street scape improvements planned in Downtown Loveland, here is the link.

Any suggestions?
Hey folks,
Following up here about a post of mine from about a month ago:
My wife (f32) and I (m34) are new to Loveland and would love to have some local friends to meet up with for a casual weekend hike / bicycle ride once a month or so (Sunday afternoons are when we tend to be most available).
I started a Meetup group and scheduled the first event for 10/6 - a Sunday afternoon. I decided to start with one that's probably familiar to many - hiking at Devil's Backbone - but would love suggestions for future events from those that are interested in coming out.
Here's a link to the meetup group: https://www.meetup.com/hikes-bikes-30s-ish/

Would be great to meet some of you there!
Hello! Looking for any hidden gems to do my Daughter’s Senior Photos. We were thinking of heading up to Estes, but I know there has to be some spots in town that would be great too! Anyone know of any good backdrops that wouldn’t be too crowded on a weekend (I know that’s a lot to ask for). Thank you!
I may finally pull the trigger on this but first I need to know where the hot spots for pedicures are in Loveland. Bonus points if it’s downtown so I can walk over.
I'm posting here because I live in Loveland but I don't mind going out of Loveland, 30 minutes drive or so.
I'm looking for cheap animal parts like chicken backs and beef feet for making broths/stocks and adding to soups. I can't even find turkey necks in the local shops which are sold year round in regular grocery stores where I'm from.
When I look for butchers on Google they mostly seem to be meat processors where you bring your own carcasses for butchering. I don't have a whole pig, I just want to buy some raw trotters. I'm assuming the butchers' counters at shops like Kroger and Sprouts don't have these things, figuring they just get whole choice parts and cut them down.
Is there anywhere in the area I can just get some cheap cuts, meat scraps, and bones?
PS I know I can squirrel away chicken backs and such each time I cook chicken until I've got enough to make stock. I'm specifically looking to BUY butcher scraps though :) thanks.
Prizes for the top 3 teams.
I’ve recently seen a bunch of posts about “vote yes on 2E to save our services” in regards to all the services that got cut by the 3% tax vote! Tried to look it up and see what it’s about and haven’t had much luck except for what “Loveland save our services” is putting out.
Anyone who works for the city or something have the time to talk about it?
It is potentially coincidental timing, but I have had random outlets in my house stop working after Loveland replaced the Electric Meter on my house. Has anybody else experienced this?
Either way, can anybody recommend an electrician to come help solve the problem? TIA!
I am just west of downtown and the smell of skunk is wild, I passed three carcasses on 34 and Glade yesterday. Is this like skunk rut season? What is happening? 🤪
Go fishing as often as I can but usually end up going alone. It's getting old and want some company fishing.
Where the hell are these things coming from because I need some words with some people. Look at this bullshit. Blocking the sidewalk AND the wheelchair/disabled ramp to the building (ramp is just behind the bonus Shiba). I need to know where to complain about this.
Why someone thinks these are a good idea is beyond me, especially when rude entitled people with no situational awareness do shit like this.
A few weeks ago, I applied for food stamps (SNAP). The wait has been keeping me on the edge of my seat. Soon, our food supply started to run low and we were having trouble with bills. We go to the food pantry, but they seem to be having perishable items recently and goes out quick! At that point, I was very ashamed to do this, but I went on the Lovelanders FB group and asked if anyone can spare a can of food or soap.
Before I knew it, we were flooded with comments of support! Half giving ideas on different food pantries, the other offering to give goods to us. At first, I felt embarrassed among other complex emotions. My Medicaid therapist had to talk me through accepting help: “everyone deserves variety of foods, no need to be frustrated on what to make for dinner” .
I accepted five (my favorite number) helpers. They either came to my door or left the goods on their doorstep to pickup. Less than 24 hours after posting that simple need, we recieved more than we expected. Boatloads of an unimaginable amount of things to keep me full. Someone even handed over a few kitchen tools and freezer items.
I was nearly crying with joy at the end of the day. Was even comfortable to say we have enough to eat for the next month or so. I posted a thank you message to the same community and told everyone else to either save it for the next person in need or donate it to the food bank I frequented!
This city is beautiful! I would’ve never expected such kindness from strangers. They all told me it will get better soon, that I was not alone. It really made me smile knowing I could do things like food prep and bring a genuine lunch to work.
Keep up the amazing hearts!
Your dancing and all around joy demonstrated on your ride today reminded me I need to quit being such a grumpy asshole all the time, and that I need to fix my bike so I can ride again.
I have a smallrig grip that I don’t need… Looking to give it to someone who can use it.
HMU if you are interested.
Looking for best tattoo shop in the Loveland/Fort Collins/longmont area! For a black and grey tattoo
Come out and listen to some 2000s hits, pop punk and rap. There’ll be prizes for the top 3 teams. Cheers!
Anyone know of a reputable business for a garage door repair? It appears my spring has sprung.
Thanks
I'm looking for a new place to walk or hike for a forest bath. My favorite places are typically either dense forest or have big, green trees. City park and Grandview cemetery in Fort Collins are usually good places for this but I don't mind going out further.
Where are your favorite walks/hikes through forest?
