i was searching the videos of Buffalohideskull's iceberg and just now discovered Humdinger wich appears to be a 15 pound eggbeater bot from 17 years ago, you can watch the fights on the youtube channel Partytimes08 i am going trough them and watching humdinger's fights, it's like watching a time traveling lynx, most fights are really one sided even against competitive opponents this bot is the most ahead of it's time bot i have ever seen, the win record of humdinger must be insane probably something like 72 fights 60 something wins and less than 10 losses, the bot doesn't even have it's own wiki probably the most underrated bot of all time, there is also humdinger 2 wich is the upgraded version wich also kicks tons of ass. humdinger in my opinion belongs in the goat talk alongside bots like original sin, bite force, lynx, hazard. (english is not my main language it probably shows)

Early on, I built a bot with O ring wheels on printed hubs. Worked well enough, but upon arriving at the event some weeks later I discovered all the preassembled wheels had cracked orings while those still in the bag were fine.

More recently I was using small rubber bands to provide tension to my forks, and again found that while the bands in the bag were fine, those that were under tension in the bot were degraded and snapped when the forks were quickly moved.

Both were of dubious quality - orings were from an assortment pack on ebay, while the bands were probably from Walmart and sitting in my drawer for several years.

What do I need to get some longevity? Will McMaster orings be superior? Or do I need to find another material? Silicone or?

Our school used to do a task based robotics program (BEST) which used microcontrollers on a robot. They were programmed using C++. It was glorious because you could easily program it so that if you hit a button, your whole driving system, for instance, would drastically change. Now that we're doing combat robotics, everyone uses overly simple airplane setups that have very limited adaptability.

I realize that the microcontrollers that BEST uses are too bulky and not reliable enough to use in a bot that's going to get chucked into a ceiling now and again, but there has to be some reliable option. Remotes advertise themselves as programmable, but the couple we tried can't have real code sent to them.

Can anyone give options? The best would be a normal receiver with a fully programmable remote, since that would keep it light and can't be broken (unless the driver drops it, haha), but other options would also be very welcome.

Where in the rules does it say that you're multi bot has to be around half the total weight, what is stopping you from collecting 250 antweights and calling it a multi bot? And can you make a multibot where one is significantly heavier than the other, it says that minibots can't have weapons, but it says nothing about really small multibots.

What are some bots you want to see return, and I mean that actually might happen, not asking for a reboot of Biohazard, more like a return of Nightmare, or Son of Whyachi.

Hey all, I’m participating in a local science fair where one of the competitions is sumobot fighting.

The objective is to push the other teams box off of the ring whilst protecting yours. Robots can be a max weight of 2k and w/h of 30cm.

Has anyone got any tips for this specific type of fight??

I compete with my High School in a 15lbs weight class and we are looking for a alternative to our armor we current use 0.07 titantium but it gets chewed up rather easily We were thinking about coating it in sorobthane to reduce impact but if anyone has any possible alternatives it would be greatly appreciated.

I started building a combat robot for my local antweight championship, but ran into a problem with the weapon motor being too weak. The tutorial I'm followinguses a plastic weapon (they have a 150g bot, I have a pound to work with), and I'm using a 75g metal bar instead. Now, I'm searching for a stronger motor that can handle the weight while still using as many parts I've already bought as possible (I have a 20a ESC for the weapon if that helps)
