Hi all! I've thought up a fun topic to discuss here IF Robot Wars does come back once again on television. (No thanks to the overuse of drama programs.) Let's say that there was this special event on Robot Wars where contenders from Battlebots travel overseas to the UK. Kinda like UK Vs The World, but better. However, it's up to us to pick which out of the many contenders over there will get entry. I know there are a lot of strong warriors who'd love to bish bash bosh, but like UK Vs The World, we'd only pick four.
In my opinion, here are the robots I'd pick for such an event. These choices are based around the entertainment value of teams and weapon diversity.:
Malice: One thing I mostly remember about Malice, is not that it's a contender full of surprises, but the team behind it. The team is known for its bunny ears, which makes them stand out from the crowd. Don't forget, robot combat is a fun sport, so we gotta have entertainment value behind it. I feel as though Malice is underrated since its growing stronger every season. I don't think I'm not the only one who feels the same way. Opponents better not underestimate it because it's a zombie, and it will malice them with a shoe horn. See what I did there?
Hydra: Ah, Hydra. The villain of Battlebots that we love to see. What can we say about it? The flips. We all know that Hydra is the best flipper in the US, but how well would it do againt the likes of British-styled flippers like Eruption and Apollo? That's something I'd wanna see. The two best flippers representing their country battling it out to see which one comes on top. The ratings for the show would skyrocket.
Shatter!: Axe robots deserve more recognition in the sport, and Shatter! I think it's the best choice for that to happen. Remember, Shatter reached the top 8 in Battlebots Season 5 and back then, omniwheels were innovative. It was a shame they had an unlucky run in the latest season, but it still has great potential to surprise anyone. Imagine if there's some sort of grudge when it faces off against Terrorhurtz, built by the same team who made Beta.
Hypershock: Will Bales and Hypershock are widely known for putting on such spectacular shows. They've been competing in the modern Battlebots series since Season 1 and boy, has it evolved. That fatal knockout on Gigabyte was one of the best hits I've ever seen. So, the All-Star champion HAS to make an appearance on another show sooner or later. However, the Robot Wars arena isn't as strong as the Battlebox, so a spinner speed limit should be in place for safety reasons. Despite that, Hypershock is my strongest pick out of the rest.
Those are my picks if the event does happen. Which contenders from Battlebots should you pick to try and take on the best of Robot Wars. Please feel free to discuss your thoughts.
I want to make a antweight combat robot but I am on a kinda tight budget of $150 ($200 tops)
any recommendations on parts or kits.
Why use rounded hammers like the one used by beta? Surely a cone shaped shaped spike with a curve following the path of the swing would be vastly superior.
Number 5: WCIII: The Tombstone fight is an all time classic, but other than that and the final against Bite Force, Minotaur's fights this year were dull and one sided. That's no criticism of the machine of course, it's just that nobody else put up any challenge or resistance to them. This would be all well and good if there were a lot of destruction, which frankly there wasn't. Technically Minotaur's best season, but for me, their least interesting one.
Number 4: WCIV: On paper, Minotaur starting off the season really struggling should be really interesting. In practice, neither of their first three losses were particularly interesting. The quality of fights increased after the Desperado, and they went out in an interesting fight. Shame the Hydra fight just kind of stopped before it even started.
Number 3: WCVI: Let's ignore the Witch Doctor fight and talk about everything else. Dragon Slayer and Deep Six weren't great, but they weren't terrible. All the others were cool too. The Sawblaze match was a classic, as was the End Game fight.
Number 2: WCVII: Loads of real highlights here. From the dominations of Tantrum and Free Shipping, to the real pressure put onto it by Cobalt, Sawblaze and Malice (when its weapon was working). Minotaur put even more incredible performances, and shown that it isn't just a big damage dealer, but a great damage taker as well. It's crazy to think it survived for that long against Cobalt and Sawblaze-really good fights.
Number 1: WCII: Every Minotaur fight was a banger. A near miss with Photon Storm's crusher followed by a massive hit that caused the crusher to bleed. The Blacksmith fight was a glorious three minutes of Blacksmith being slowly dismantled. Warhead litteraly got beheaded. Bronco losing all of its wheels gave me Razer vs Millie Anne Bug flashbacks...
(let's just take a moment of silence for Blackout)
...and even their loss to Bombshell was a great fight, and a massively underrated one in my eyes.
might be a silly question, sorry for it
Rise of the Robots concludes their coverage of the New Blood Championship as Alan & The Griz discuss the grand final as Thor, Storm 2, Mute and Cedric Slammer fight for a seeded place in the 7th UK Championships.

Apologies if this has been asked many times before. Are we getting a new season or not?
My nephew has decided to join my team at a 1lb plant competition really soon. He wants his own bot with an active weapon and I don't have time to design a new one from scratch.
Do any of you know of a design I can pay for or print with attribution that will give him a great first experience?
I know that this was a highly requested fight during WCVI, and I do love ORBY Blade in its Chinese appearances, but I truly believe this fight would've been terrible.
We've seen enough of Blade in WCVI to say that they'd probably try and use its rear wedge to try and deflect Tombstone's blade. The problem is that the wedge isn't armoured well enough to take a hit from Bloodsport. Why should I believe it can deflect Tombstone.
Tombstone vs Blade would probably be a ten second fight leading to an anticlimactic Tombstone win. I know why fans wanted this to happen, but the evidence suggests that wouldn't have been the fight we got.
Hello all, I was testing my electronic harness today for my 3lb and all my motors worked fine (drive), but my weapon motor (the fingertech) is beeping and I'm not quite sure what the reason is. Thanks!
Imagine a more powerful icewave engine with an electric motor. Is this dumb
I’ve been out of the loop for a few weeks, but didn’t they say that Faceoffs would be on the YouTube around mid January, but we’re a bit past that point and I still haven’t heard anything. Does anyone know???
Heya all, I'm hoping someone who's worked with various size servos can help me out here. Recently bought a few of these servos from AliExpress. Having only used the 'standard' size servo before I just figured they'd fit my normal 25 spline horns I already had, but they are far too small. They appear to have 25 teeth (as well as I can count anyhow) but my calipers say they are 4.9mm across which is far too small to fit the standard size servo horn.
So how do I find out what size they are, and where can I find non-standard servo horns? I've tracked it far enough that I'm pretty sure they're the Hitec B1-mini size, but I'm having a hell of a time finding horns to fit, Amazon has one for $60, but at that price I'd probably be further ahead buying different servos (if it's even the right size).
They do come with some flimsy horns that fit, but I'm not confident they'll hold up in combat and they're a bit warped which is annoying at best.
Also, the screw that goes in the end of the output spline is almost an m2.5, a standard 2.5 screw fits and goes about 1 thread deep before it starts to jam but the screw that came with the servo threads in smoothly. It measures 2.15 mm and my 2.5mm screws are 2.35 in my calipers, so help figuring out the size of that would be great as well.
Ok so I live in Vermont and I was wondering what the closest competition Is in summer for antweight robots.
Was there not enough time to hire some to replace him before they started filming, did they not replace him out of respect or both?
It could just be the commentary dramatizing it but whatever happened sounds like it caused a lot of upset with fans
Hey guys I’m new here, new to this hobby. I have background and experience in printing as well as electrical( I work in the automotive field.) I’d really like to design and build my own bot I know kits are available and it’s easier blah blah blah but the project is what I’m interested in just as much as the sport. That being said my main question here is what are the main components of controlling the robots? I’d like to order the main components so I have them for measurement and design purposes but I’m not entirely sure where to begin
This is my first dip into combat robots. I purchased a finger tech viper to play around with along with a Radiolink T8S transmitter/receiver setup. I downloaded profiles/ drivers from fingertechs website and flipped the profile to Tank and off mixed. When i'm sending power to the motors, I can only get them to spin if I reduce the endpoint adjustment on the sticks and essentially drive the motors at 1/2 speed, indicated by blinking lights on the viper. when I slowly start to increase the endpoint of such that my blinking light goes to a constant red/green, the motors top out and I just hear a humming noise.
Has anyone run into this before?
Additionally, my back right motor seems to have trouble with the reverse position. It keeps locking up worse than the others.
Curious if anyone has run into this before.
The battlebots Facebook page released 30 second or so clips around the time the fights happened and it showed for like 1 second of Traves T really being mangled against Rusty. Looked like a KO for Rusty!
Hi guys I'm from India and I want to get into this hobby but I'm not sure if there are any antweight class competitions here. Does anyone know if any such competitions are even held in India?
Which modification that you made when your fairyweight/ antweight/bettleweight/hobbyweight or whatever have saved your robot when it was overweight? even if iot camed with a counter part, mine has been making like a los of holes in the up chassis part but it became more fragile
