Welcome to the sub-reddit for the international First Robotics Competition (FRC). From FIRST’s website “We call FIRST Robotics Competition the ultimate Sport for the Mind. High-school student participants call it “the hardest fun you’ll ever have.” Under strict rules, limited resources, and an intense six-week time limit, teams of 20 or more students are challenged to raise funds, design a team "brand," hone teamwork skills, and build and program industrial-size robots to play a difficult field game against like-minded competitors. It’s as close to real-world engineering as a student can get. Volunteer professional mentors lend their time and talents to guide each team. Each season ends with an exciting FIRST Championship.”

Students or mentors Who has nominated a student/Won for dean list what are qualities of one???
Alliance selection is just Home Depot music
This may sound stupid to those with more experience, but this is my rookie year in FRC and my first event will be an off-season, my question is, are blue banners awarded at these types of events?
I wish upon you much candy and fruit snacks.
Hey everyone, my team made an amazing robot reveal for one of our offseason robots: Baguette. Weighing in at just 29.4 lbs on inspection, this robot's chassis made it the talk of Lasalle during the Southwest International offseason tournament.
Chassis: 6.25" long by 53.25" wide
Drive: West Coast 5:1 MAXplanetary with CIM (2 total)
Wheels: 4" x 1.5" Colson tires sanded to 10cm (3.9")
Battery life: 4+ matches per swap

This hammer is perfect for hard-to-reach areas of your bumpers, allowing for the installation of curved nails into your bumpers for securement of both fabric and pool noodles! You will certainly not regret using curved nails. (yes this is a joke, this hammer was bent during a meeting today)
This is what I get for trying to remove a wood screw with a claw hammer. Let me know if anyone has recommendations for hammers that don't do this under extreme torque, or screw extractors I should invest in lol
Okay, so basically this is my first year in FRC and I had an idea to do dual arms or just have some wag to have one arm and off a block to the arm behind but no team in my entire state has ever tried to use two arms and so there’s no one I know to ask. If there’s any suggestions on servos, parts, designs anything would be appreciated.
Hi all! I am a mentor on team 1511 Rolling Thunder and we are fairly well known (at least in our region) for our bright red camo pants that are a part of our uniform. I was talking with some other team members and we are trying to figure out how many colors of the camo rainbow are represented by different teams. I know that there are 1296 Full metal jackets with orange camo and 1806 S.W.A.T. with gray camo. I also remember seeing purple at some point, but I don't recall what team that was.
For full transparency, we were discussing reaching out to the manufacturer to see if we could get a sponsorship from them, so we may use this info in our pitch if we can find a place to fit it in.
This morning, I received an email from FIRST saying that our team was dropped. I was very confused by this sudden action from First without any prior notice. So I called First today and they said that the person who dropped our team was the regional director in our area. I sent an email to that director and am waiting for a reply. Has anyone had a similar experience and how did your team respond?
For context I put it at 30%compared to 25% and I broke it after he said "so we're gonna break it now" Also that shiny thing on the vortex we made ourselves in abt 5 min compared to the day and a half to get it from rev. If it go's full speed it can go full extendo in .7 secs
Every team I know has their own uniqe and maybe stupid tradition or game, I would like to hear some from the community
We recently installed an Orange Pi into our photon vision pipeline. We can use it to do various vision tasks like homing onto an object. However, ONLY when plugged in, our robot will randomly have VERY large brownouts where it doesn't get communications from the remote; this leads our robot to not respond to controls and keep going. It does respond to e-stop, though. When we disconnect our orange pi the robot continues the normal desired behaviour. We often get warning/error messages saying that the periodic of a bunch of things are taking too long or that the watchdog isn't being fed in x seconds.
Those who has come close or has one the spirt award/ think why other maybe have won the award
how do you win the Team spirt award??
Hayo I’m a first robotics student who’s a pit director of my team. How can I make my pit look cool/ what ideas, things I can add to it an issue there is is that our vans don’t have enough space for us to have anything extravagant but I still I want it to look nice
I made and cadded it btw
I know it's pretty much impossible, but I saw some robots that hung using 1 claw or climber and just laid against the side of the stage to stay upright. Maybe it could be possible if there were at least 2 robots that used that climbing scheme?
