    Insulin intervention (can't find)

I swear there is an xkcd where they do an "intervention" for an "insulin addict" (aka diabetic) talking about "insulin withdrawal." But I googled xkcd insulin with addiction, withdrawal, intervention, and every combination I could think of and google doesn't want to show it (or I am delusional and it doesn't exist).

Can someone find it and reassure me that I'm not losing my mind? Or tell me I'm delusional, whichever. Maybe the second one is easier.

Edit it was SMBC and I was, in fact, delusional.

    Story of a wallpaper

I used to be really into xkcd back in the early 2010s.

At some point, I had an idea and made myself a background wallpaper for my computer by collaging a bunch of images from various xkcd comics strips, with a bunch of characters.

I was pretty pleased with the results, so I posted it on the fora. After a couple of months, I noticed I received a lot of comments on it. Out of curiosity, I googled "xkcd wallpaper," and my wallpaper was the first Google Images result.

I was super happy about that.

More than a decade later, I suddenly got reminded of the wallpaper and decided to do the same Google search. Obviously, it's no longer first. I started scrolling down through the images, and after 4–5 pages, I saw it. Still there. i don't know if the forum posted was deleted, or if it just got filtered out by google, but the result i found was one that was re-uploaded to some wallpaper website, in an album called "xkcd wallpapers." I downloaded the file so that I have a copy, for old time's sake.

    And...

The name of the file is:
My Friend Made This Cool Xkcd Wallpaper What Do You Think Pics.jpg

But the thing is, I never showed the poster to anyone I know. Between my forum post and the re-upload on the wallpaper website, someone downloaded it, reposted it somewhere, and lied that it was made by their friend. That was the version that got preserved.

Also, someone in the chain converted it into a JPG, which is super annoying. It was a PNG originally.

    anyways, here it is

Looking for sampling a pinecone comic

I cannot find this comic by any search engine. It exists as a vague collection of words. I see it in my minds eye in XKCD drawing style so I'm pretty sure that it comes from it.

The theme as I remember it is a critique on obscure music or underground music culture.

"... this guy is just sampling a pinecone... now he's flipping me off... have I done something to personally offend you?"

Be honest, how many of ya'll go to the explainxkcd for every comic even if you get the joke?

Idk there's something comforting about not having to worry that you're missing part of the joke or smth.

    AI subway station

Hello. I'm looking for a web comic strip. The one I'm seeking is a bunch of people in what seems a subway station. One of them says something like "hey look, AI is coming" , and the train just swooshes by them, leaving them behind. Anyone? I can't find it in the archives. I've looked everywhere. Thanks!

Should we try to find sources for all the "citation needed"?

I've had this idea for a while. Obviously, when you put a "citation needed" mark on explainxkcd you expect someone to try and find a source for the statement. So why don't we do that? We could try competing for the most non-sensical sources for statements like "real hurricanes are not dotted lines (453)" or "an average homeowner having very little use for two tons of creamed corn (1807)". We could even make it into a adversarial competition, where some people try to find statements to mark and other find sources.

    Any questions?

At a talk Randall is giving in Edinburgh and he's taking questions, anything anyone desperately wants to know? Can't think of anything myself.

    xkcd 2030: Voting Software

was reminded of https://xkcd.com/2030/ as i was going through this rabbit hole https://www.reddit.com/r/somethingiswrong2024/comments/1gqyhx0/comment/lx38id7/ i thought people here could have the idle brain to extend this the analysis in my linked comment further - apologies if this isn't allowed!

Shows that WI had some bias towards trump correlated with Dominion machines.

edited: to include a plot of Wisconsin which is what i could pull data for from: https://elections.wi.gov/wisconsin-county-election-websites

I pulled county level voter machine information at https://verifiedvoting.org/verifier/#mode/navigate/map/ppEquip/mapType/normal/year/2024

Some people were mad at me so I added things here less half-hazardly: https://www.reddit.com/user/HasGreatVocabulary/comments/1grwpbo/data_analyses_by_a_couple_of_others_around_vote/
