My husband is a diesel mechanic and needs new boots. We bought him some Keens 4 days ago and the heels are already coming off. Willing to spend the money on good boots if they’re comfortable for a wide foot. Thanks for the advice!
I’d like a synthetic with a heritage aesthetic. Are there any brands making such boots?
I have had redwing 2412 supersole 2.0 boots for years. I am looking at switching to the Thorogood 1957 waterproof safety moc toe both 8" boots. Is there any reason not to give this a try? I have no issues with redwings just wanting to give something else a shot. Any really big differences/deal breakers other than the insulation and goretex? Am I about to make a poor decision? Thank you
Got a gig as a super warehouse inspector, and need some good safety toes. I am a rather large man, 6’4” and 320lbs. My true size is 11 wide.
I’m no stranger to being on my feet all day, and wear New Balance 608s 11.5/4E -or- Alden Indy’s with an aftermarket vibram non-slip in 11 B/D currently, but never needed safety toes until now. I run Fulton cork insoles as I have relatively high arches… So high, in fact, given my stature, I have a pair of Birkenstock sandals I wear specifically indoors so plantar fasciitis doesn’t flare (highly recommended, btw)
I’m considering Throrogood Mocs with safety toe (STYLE# 804-4200), but need a size recommendation. I’m also to open to other brands/models so long as they can be refurbished by the company cobblers, and have a immediate return policy as i'll be purchasing online... I don't have many places to fry in person.
I have an oldpair of Danner Stinger GTX 8" boots which I have worn for the last 9-10 years... Loved that boot... It's been patched and glued back together a few times now and it's finally time to replace them.
I'm looking at getting a new pair of Danner boots and in particular, I'm looking at the Danner Quarry USA 400G Composite Toe workboot.
Does any know whether Danner used a similar last making the two boots or are they significantly different?
How can I get rid of, or at least mitigate, the rancid smell from a pair of Muck boots? I’ve let them dry completely out, removed the insoles and let them bake in the Alabama sun over the summer. As soon as I wear them the smell comes back. I’ve done foot powder and baking soda with no luck. Suggestions? I’m to the point of pitching them and buying a new pair.
I recently started as automotive technician at Ford after working at Valvoline for a couple years. I need to get some new boots as my current ones arent waterproof and more importantly, they arent non slip. Im bouncing between Wolverine and Timberland for boots and a coat, i mention that because i like consistency and prefer to buy from the same brand.
I know Wolverine is a fair amount cheaper so thats one of the biggest attractions for me. Just curious on what you all think.
Thank you!
Need some rather specific help
So I have had a pair of work boots that lasted me almost 8 years now (smith & Wesson combat boots) but they’re on the way out and I’m trying to find some options. Obviously I could buy them again but I want something that looks a little nicer but will still last a good long while but it’s hard finding details on a lot of the ones I see. Looking for something kinda goth or punk that I can still pass off as work boots (work in the auto industry as an ASA and parts tech), would need either zip or straps since I have some damage in my hands that make tying consistently a problem, and they can’t have high arches since I’m also flat footed. Everything I see with 2 of those 3 points fails at the third criteria, is super cheaply made, or well out of my budget of under 200 bucks. Only other thing is I live on the midwest so they need to be weather resistant. I hope I’m not asking too much but please if anyone has some suggestions I could really use the help!
Any loggers with a wide toe box?
I can't find anywhere in the description of these boots that says if they are met guarded. Anyone have any idea how to tell?
I’m looking to get a pair of red backs, can anyone recommend good places in the north east United States that carry’s them so I can try them on
Finally went to the podiatrist and he said I have plantar fasciitis. I am getting insoles but wondering if there are any boots you know of that are best for this. He said a boot with a steel shank that doesn’t bend in the middle.
I've tried many different types of socks, and none seems to work... I think is the boots I have..
They are called monitor hybrid boot.. not sure what material is.. but seems plastic?
The boots always end up wet.. I have a boot dryer, but I think is not enough..
I was reading, and soneoe. Said, leather boots might be more breathable? Someone recommended thorogooda boots..
Found these ones:
Do you guys think it might help with my. Problem?
For context, I’m a civil engineer in an office 99% of the time so I won’t need the most robust and durable boot. For my latest project, I’m required to make site visits about once a month where I’ll be walking around dirt/gravel/overgrown brush for 5-6 hours. My company requires work boots with safety toes for site visits and offer a $100 stipend.
They are rubbing on my heels but I’ve had that with previous boots. What do you think? Should I try and wear them in or is it worth sending them back before i void the chance of returning them?
Thanks!
What can I do to reduce the pain in my feet due to standing for long hours in safety boots?
Hey everyone, I’m having a tough time getting a work boot that fits my feet. I usually wear a size 12D (US) in New Balance running shoes and the same for Hey Dudes. However, I’ve tried several boots at that size, and it has been very hit or miss. I purchased a pair of Ariat Work Hogs (12D), and they have been pretty good. The only problem is that I have some heel slip. I’ve tried adding heel pads, but they kept peeling off when I put my foot in the boot. I also have tried a different insole. However, it did not work. I have very flat feet and a somewhat narrow heel. It seems like buying shoes is becoming a hassle. Does anyone have recommendations to alleviate the heel slip?
Does anyone know if solvair steel toe boots meet ASTM safety requirements?
I was looking to buy some redwing boots, specifically the Truguard lites. the problem is I live in europe and can only seem to find the heritage collection and not the work collection.
Hey guys, I’m an amazon delivery driver in the Midwest so I’m looking for some waterproof winter boots. I am also a woman so they need to be women’s sizes or go down to men’s size 5. The boots I’ve worn all summer for work are oboz sawtooth x mid but I’ve had them about 3 months and almost worn through the sole. Lots of walking on cement of all textures and metal inside the van
I’ve been looking at getting a new pair and I love the way the Moc feels compared to a round toe. But can’t find any composite toe moc in stores. Any recommendations of a brand or style so I can just buy online? TIA
