Hi all! I don't know how to name this but my soon to be husband has been playing WoW since forever. We were physically separated for 3 months due to unforseen circumstances but finally he is comingback home! I want to surprise him! I'm learning how to play the game but I wanted a bit extra. His favorite character is Varian Wrynn and I found The World of Warcraft: Comic Collection, Vol. 1 in a bookstore here. Can someone tell me if Wrynn is in this book please? Or if there is something better if not? If he would be happy for the book in your opinion? All help is appreciated! First, let me restate the obvious: I am not a raider, and it's not my intention to ever do raids on a regular basis. I barely know my class rotation (Arms Warrior) and it's painfully clear that my current DPS is woefully below what it should be if I knew how to play properly. But I have to do it for the meta achievment so LFR it is.

With that said, I dipped into raiding for the first time this past weekend and it was a shitshow, obviously. ;)

My first "real" experience was the timewalking Black Temple raid. I'd done this before solo, but that was years ago and I barely remembered it. Still, for some reason I thought it'd be OK to just do it. And it was, for the most part! My biggest mistake was near the end when I saw some loot sparkling on the ground near some trash, went back to click on it real quick (why?!?) and watched in horror as the doors for the Illidari Council fight closed *right on my face*, locking me out for being a second too slow because I chased some trash loot. AWKWARD! Side note: one player had mentioned seconds before to wait before pulling until everyone was in, but obvs. that didn't happen.

My actual first real experience was doing LFR Vault of Incarnates yesterday. I watched some of Hazelnutty's guides and tried to read up on the mechanics so I wouldn't be completely awful. This is helpful but I feel like it's a lot to absorb and remember all the mechanics for the bosses so it wasn't exactly smooth. My problems were things not covered because they're probably obvious to most people who have raided before.

My first super-awkward mistake was in Eranog. The fight went fine, my DPS was low but as I struggled to click through what felt like 100 need/greed choices, everyone was moving on. So I wrapped it up as fast as I could and started moving out of his arena, but I noticed he was still sparkling with loot!

Did I forget to click something? I ran back real quick and of course all the loot was the stuff still being rolled for (TIL!). Phew. In my rush to catch back up, I forgot (or didn't realize) that his arena was surrounded by a lava pool and the only way out was the narrow strip of stairs. So while trying to take a shortcut I immediately ran into the lava pool and missed the stairs. AWKWARD.

It took me a solid minute or two of flailing to find just the right angled area in the back to climb back up - I couldn't easily heroic leap my way out of this. Meanwhile everyone else is moving on to the next boss.

Things went mostly OK but I found myself dead in some trash before Dathea - something about stacks of poison? Clearly I was standing in too much bad. I stayed dead for what felt like forever - wasn't sure if I should have released or not. The group did a ready check for Dathea but I had to decline because I was still dead and eventually I was resurrected. AWKWARD.

In a second LFR attempt, I did OK with Terros but you know what? He has a gap you can fall into right around his body. I got too close to him and fell into it and died. AWKWARD.

I'd read about the Sennarth fight and webs and being pulled off, so I mostly managed that OK, except for one towards the end where I was yanked off - luckily onto an outcropping that allowed me to heroic leap back on to the main area. Jesus Christ. I spent most of this fight avoiding mechanics rather than actually doing DPS but checking the meters at the end, I discovered that I wasn't the worst - just middle of the pack - which was alright considering I spent so much time focused on not dying vs. doing damage.

No one actually ranted at me - most of the grumbling was directed towards a second tank and some interpersonal drama about when and how to taunt, so thanks to him for soaking all the mental raid damage.

Hi all, I was wondering how effective trinket such as whispering incarnate icon, chromatic essence... Can be in raid. Are they bis for many specs? Im playing rshamm btw. I was afraid that if i am alone using them would be a waste.

I haven't played since 2020 and was pleasantly surprised I could now fly in BofA. How can I fly in shadowlands?

When I got he quest, it said I would get three rewards, Cradle, Crests and Chest. Now when I went to hand it in, Cradle and Crests are there but no chest.

Did they remove it or is it a bug?

Played wow for years up to cata, just getting back into it. Looking for opinions on best race for pvp rogue. Normally, i go Human but with all these new classes wasnt sure.

I think this was the first ever wow video I saw, probably back in like 2006ish. I'm almost positive it was called "another wow dance vid" and it was just a compilation of the different dances to (incorrect) music. One of the main ones I can remember is the orc male dance had "Take Me Out" by Franz Ferdinand. I've looked all over and can't find it. Does anyone know where to find this video? It would be a nostalgia bomb.

Throughout most of WOW I have always been a tank. Now, as of the last two times I have tried to play in recent xpacs; I have tried to DPS. I tried to come back to play with friends as a DPS in shadowlands. My friends had to remove me because I was too low dps.

Friends just had me come back to play for Dragonflight Season4 to get ready for War Within. I am the lowest DPS and getting kicked from groups again.

I have watched multiple videos. I have read multiple guides. I have the fucking addons. The god damn weak auras. the mother fucking rotation helper. EVERYTHING I CAN FUCKING DO POSSIBLE. YET. I . CANT. FUCKING. SEEM. TO . FUCKING. WIN.

I hate this fucking feeling. This is why I quit last time. .. I fucking suck and all I want to do is play with my friends. FUCK.

I’ve been putting off wow for some time now but I’m finally going to give it a try because of all my family and friends pestering me too and because I think it’s do time I join the world.

I’ve played other MMO’s before, mainly putting a lot of hours into FFXIV Online. My question is, As a new player what should I join, the Alliance or Horde. I’m a very indecisive person and usually need someone to persuade me to a side but my family keeps telling me to chose and I’m honestly just lost at which one I should.

I usually get into MMO’s for the community and RP so I was thinking about joining the Emerald Dream RP server and was wondering how each side is when it comes to the role playing aspect.

When it comes to races I know I should play what I think looks best but to me that’s the Blood Elves and I hear a lot of “trash” talk about them.

As for classes I was thinking of playing a Shadow Priest or Demonology Warlock because I’ve always liked that kind of “dark” magic but the caster gameplay kinda throws me off.

What are your thoughts and opinions on what I should play and I know I should play what I want but I really would appreciate some suggestions and input. Please and thanks.

So I ran the Black Temple timewalking tonight and when I turned in quest I saw I got a weapon for fury warrior and I was excited. Then I realized it was a 1h axe.

I looked and spec and realized if I gave up two points in fury tree I could spec into smf.

506 weapon is significantly higher that what I had previously (had a 447 crafted axes.)

I was able to get a 454 Ilvl sword for offhand. Curious if I should switch to smf and if it is viable for casual play. I probably will stay in normal raids, maybe touch heroics near end of season 4.

Is SMF worth going into just for the weapon?

Is the only Gear that can be obtained from the Raid slots in the Vault this week the one from the Vault of the Incarnate?

Hi all, I am seeing a lot of posts about how easy it is now to gear up toons with Awakened/WQ etc. but as someone that hit lvl 70 on my first toon not too long ago and not having played WoW in a few years, it is a bit overwhelming. I also keep running lfr but my toon is still at 462. I am wondering if there is some kind of guide out there in existence that shows you how to best gear up? Or maybe someone can better detail the process on here? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hello! I have been an on and off WoW player since BC came out. Pretty strictly a PVE player - not huge into PVP.

I have been a hardcore raider (like it was a part time job) way back when. For the past few years I just like to run stuff for transmog, collect mounts, do old content, alts, do achievements etc.

I have been in my same guild for years and it’s now essentially dead - has been for a while. I like it bc I have all my many alt’s parked there, but with the new alt systems coming up I feel better about splitting them up.

Now for the various questions:

1. How does this cross server stuff work? I am currently on Dark Iron, which is relatively small population. Sometimes major cities feel super alive with a million people running around and then sometimes I log and I’m the only person in stormwind or valdrakken and no one is talking to trade/general ever. Just the occasional personal selling a mount run for some crazy amount of gold or real life money. I don’t get it.

2. How do you actually find a guild? Just the built in guild finder? Back in the day I remember having to apply like it was a job - and you would look through the forums which don’t really exist in the way they did then. I would like to not have to fill out a job application - but I miss doing stuff with people. I appreciate that blizzard has implemented mechanics that allow more casual players to do raids and dungeons more easily - I just want to do more than looking for raid constantly.

3. Can a mom with two little babies who only can play when she puts them to bed and might have to jump up in the middle of a fight to soothe someone back to sleep or get someone a glass of water find a guild that will be okay with that happening in the middle of a raid?

Pretty much the title, I’ve played WoW with my dad since I was a toddler and after a couple year break I started playing again - particularly retail and hardcore.

My boyfriend also got it for the first time ever, doesn’t like classic too much, and made some toons on retail. Mans has hardly touched a computer for gaming, he prefers console and FPS games.

He enjoyed his mage and hunter, and yesterday made a warrior. I usually try playing/doing the same content as him, especially dungeons, to give tips and the like. Today while I was taking a nap, he queued for a dungeon with that warrior.

He said he queued for DPS but in the instance people said he should tank instead. It literally being not even 24hrs since he first played of course he had no idea what he was doing. Last I knew he was specced as fury. They flamed him and then kicked him when he did respond that he was incredibly new. He’s unsure if he wants to even play the warrior in group content now.

I’ve never tanked more than some dappling in bear tanking so I couldn’t provide tips, mostly I’ve ran heals/dps. I don’t have a guild/group to play with after so long.. are there ways y’all recommend to help him? He was actually pretty excited before this to play but seems a bit hesitant now.

Returning player here. Usually when I come back I blast through the story I missed and then leave. But this time it’s got me hanging around for a while and I wanted to branch out some more. I used to RP a lot when I was very young, probably 14-15 and loved it. There would be people rp’ing in towns and cities and random spots in the woods. I hopped on both MG and WRA and found almost 0 RP horde side. I started on WRA and was very surprised as I had some of my most memorable experiences Horde there. Org was pretty sparse and SMoon was empty. Things weren’t much better in Stormwind. Is RPing just dead? Are less people interested in it now than before? Or did I just check at bad times?

There’s something that is just off after the patch for me. Was hoping it was gonna fix itself, but does not seem to do so, and i have no idea how to fix it.

First of all, i can’t ever look at the deathlog, it’s just grey for me, always. (Or whatever it’s called, on the phone atm, but the thing next to release spirit, it’s always grey, so i can’t see what killed me, or how much damage i took from à certain ability).

Second: My group frames sometimes just bug. Sometimes it shows that a group member have 30% hp. I throw a heal, and the bar still shows 30%. I need to manually target people at times just to make sure they got the heal. Not so fun when you are a healer.

Third: My light’s hammer and Final reckoning abilities (rain of fire/blizzard-esque abilities, with a circle), sometimes just self-cast.

Anyone have an idea how to fix this?

That just sucks. As a person being laid off at any longstanding job, that is terrible news to hear. As someone who was paramount to the growth of the franchise, no matter what some people's opinion of her writing was, that is absolutely mind boggling that she was even on the list of lay offs.

She wrote Lord of the Clans in 6 weeks, a book that defined the franchise.

She wrote Arthas: rise of the Lich King, which is many people's favorite book.

She wrote the Shattering, which was criticized mainly because of its "must read" status and really only that, where Chris Metzen himself stated that they had no plans for ANDUIN (main character now) before she came up with his story.

She wrote Before the Storm, which was an incredibly intelligent, almost "real world" look at the idea of what would happen if there was a kingdom of undead that could potentially interact with their living relatives. Some people hate the new Calia narrative (I'm not a fan either,) but apparently blizz wanted a new human female priest character and it was Christie who said "why not just use the one we have?!"

She wrote Sylvanas, which, if you haven't read it, makes her BFA-SL arc somewhat coherent.

When she was added to the team, you could immediately feel the dialogue improve. So much said in so little time.

"Why should I accept your challenge?" "You want to make me suffer."

In terms of criticism for the story she wrote, she had no control over things like Thrall being forced into the limelight in cata, everything to do with Sylvanas in BFA - SL, she was hired to write cinematics and dialogue.

She was a gem in so many ways, and I am heartbroken to see her be laid off in such a casual manner. I first read her Warcraft books when I was 14 and I still have hardcover copies of all of them in my library room. Creativity and art is nothing to a company that can afford billions to buy a another company.

Hey all, I haven’t played shadowlands since release and wanted to try grinding for mounts. I know, sounds like torture, but I’m willing to put myself to the task.

The amount of mounts in shadowlands is almost overwhelming, so I’m wondering if any of you all have any tips on how to go about it.

I know parts definitely won’t be fun, but again, I’m up for it!
