Purpose of this subreddit

We showcase anti-feminist activity and bannings in /r/Feminism and /r/AskFeminists.

Subreddit directory and external links

Some alternative feminist and women-oriented subreddits:

/r/FemmeThoughtsFeminism

/r/AskFemmeThoughts

/r/FemmeThoughts

Browse eleven feminist subreddits at once with this link! WARNING: r/radicalfeminism links to a transphobic book in its sidebar and r/feminisms allows transphobic discussion. We keep them in the link because 1) Fuck if I'm gonna let TERFs claim my radical feminism; and 2) r/feminisms is big.

/r/MetaFeminism lists 17 feminist subreddits, helpfully organized with blurbs, subscriber information, and gender community.

Finally Feminism 101 offers a guide for basic concepts of feminist theory.

Derailing for Dummies highlights tactics people commonly use to dismiss or derail others in arguments and discussions.

Archived discussion 2: "What do you want /r/Feminism to be like? Round 2"

What are the rules here? What content do we like to see?

  1. Content comes primarily from /r/Feminism and /r/AskFeminists. If you are new and read something troubling in either of those subreddits, post it. Sexist, misogynistic, and anti-feminist posts deserve to be highlighted here, as well as any post that derails discussion ("Can we talk about a problem that affects men instead?" is common) or seems like it should be moderated.

  2. Preferred format is a screenshot of the post(s) with usernames blurred. Why? Posts with usernames visible or posts with straight links to the originating thread tend to get moderated after appearing here. We like to keep the /r/feminism subreddits in their pristine state, so we make it a bit more work to track down the original post (OP). However, you may post a link to the post or thread or an unblurred screenshot if you desire.

  3. MRAs and anti-feminists are not welcome to post here and will be banned.

  4. We do not debate feminist topics or the validity of feminism here. Discussion, however, is welcome. The tone of WATF is funny and snarky.

  5. We DO NOT downvote content in /r/Feminism or /r/AskFeminists.

  6. Do not use this space to bemoan being banned from feminist spaces for your anti-feminist views or baiting feminist subs.

WATF is not affiliated with any subreddits.

I'm glad I found this sub and others like it. Banned by u/Demmian for asking a question.

I got the same as everyone else. "Informativity rule", no further explanation, and a 28 day mute.

This is the only comment in the last 24 hours that comes even close to the ban reason given

And then I find out this dude is an MRA? Really?

This is scummy behavior.

Banned by Demmian

I was banned from r/feminism two weeks ago for an innocuous comment supporting sex workers on an anti prostitution meme. I have never been banned from any group on Reddit or otherwise. When I tried to clear up what I assumed was a misunderstanding, I received a curt message saying I had been banned for … some technical phrase that meant I didn’t know what I was talking about. And told no further communication was wanted and banned from contacting the mod.

It is absolutely unacceptable for women to be silenced by a man on what is supposedly their own platform for expression. It is absolutely unacceptable for feminists to get divided into smaller and smaller subreddits while a man continues to hold post in the main Reddit groups for feminists. And it’s no wonder that Reddit is known as a hothouse for misogyny and antifeminist activity when we are not even able to speak for ourselves in a place we will be heard. I want this fixed. I know I’m not the only one.

If we are to achieve true equality, wouldn't dropping all political identity be very helpful?

Relative newbie here who feels a need to make an important point regarding gender politics.

I know this is a feminist subreddit and many, if not all of you here are very likely to identify as a feminist. I would feel I am this way too.

What I notice however is how much politics breeds division and conflict.

Imagine for example the republicans and democrats merging to form one political party.

The answer to that is a big no.

They are simply too different to each other in their political views and ideology to ever come together.

The same holds true for the two main gender political "parties", the feminist movement and the men's rights movement. The core political views of each movement are naturally opposed to each other and sticking to the core political ideals will always mean both sides stay apart and in conflict with each other.

I feel that the best way we can achieve true equality that feminism stands for would be if not only we feminists dropped our political label or identity but the men's rights activists also do exactly the same then we could talk without the politics getting in the way and keeping the ever constant division going.

What say you all? I'd love to hear everyone's opinions on this matter.

Feminism influencing Menstrual Attitudes

**Feminists, we need your help**

Researchers at Federation University invite you to participate in research investigating factors that influence attitudes towards menstruation and menstrual products.

We are interested in studying how identity and self-perceptions influence attitudes towards menstruation and the types of products people use to manage their menstrual periods.

To be eligible to participant, you must be over the age of 18 years, live in Australia and currently experience a menstrual cycle.

This research has been approved by the Federation Universities Ethics Committee.

The study takes about 20 minutes to complete. If you’d like to participate, please click the link below.

https://federation.syd1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_cUPiZ3x7l0JfPcW

Please share this invitation and online study link with anyone you think might be interested in participating.

Report a moderator.

I don't know if this has been shared, but I don't see it at a quick read though and thought it could use more visability for my unfairly banned sisters from *you know where*
Probably a good idea if we can get it flowing more, and sharing it with others logging their unfair treatment.

We need another feminist sub, one that doesn’t dog pile others and outright ban and mute users for no reason

If any of the mods are still interested in trying to establish a new sub, I have some ideas, feel free to DM me.

Got banned from r/feminist for disagreeing with a post against prostitution and kinks shame

So I just get banned from r/feminism for not agreeing with a post against prostitution and what I identified as rough sex/bdsm (the post was just mentioning violence practice)

I leave a (respectful) comment explaining how I think banning prostitution affect in a bad way sex worker (with exemple) and how I found kink shaming hypocritical (and also giving number of how there is the almost same ratio of men and women liking being dom/sub) (I have screenshot of the comment I made if some would like to see it)

I was ban five minute after and when I asked why, the mod told me how I was for the abuse (the word they use was stronger than abuse) of women and other usual stuff about patriarchy and internalized misogyny, and that the feminism of choice isn’t deep enough for that subreddit. (I also got a shadow ban for answering to them after that). They also told me how a should be careful with what I think of hijab (for a previous’ comment that I made (I am not a Muslim so I don’t think much of it for I don’t know enough about it but I think as long as a women chose to wear it it’s fine)

I am angry about that ban for I am a huge feminist, and I think it is unjustified and quite abusive from the mod but also quite concerned, I am not sure i am the only get banned for that type of comment, the post say they were 17 comment but only two were visible before I posted mine, and I just feel it’s not right to impose one form of thought about feminism without room for debate.

Just got muted from /askafeminist because I refused to condemn all sex work, those mods are not feminists!

They grilled me and said I needed to edit my comment, saying I was pulling a bait and switch because I had a balanced opinion and when I tried to explain they said I was arguing in bad faith and deleted my comment.

I was really confused so I did a mod mail, explained what I assumed was a misunderstanding on the mods part. I even referenced their own resources and rules and showed how my comments were in line with their philosophy! I asked if a different mod could look it over. The blatantly same mod ignored everything and said If I continued to argue I'd be muted, and then muted me anyway!

Wtf! I am an inclusive feminist and I believe all women should have the right to make their own choices, equal opportunities to follow through with those choices and support from other women. Why the hell have they banned me for not seeing an issue in black and white, I'm so annoyed. I've just left a really violent and abusive relationship and it was nice having the option to interact with women on there. Arseholes.

WARNING - Any banned feminists. Whatever subreddit you choose to go to next. Avoid r/FeminismUncensored at all costs

Avoid r/FeminismUncensored whatever you do

When taking a look at this subreddit it's community description is very misleading indeed. Quoted it below:

"Feminism but without filters. We aim to facilitate the free exchange of ideas to the fullest extent humanely possible. Please keep an open mind, and remain courteous. Try to learn, not win or antagonize. Just about anyone who lacks a voice is welcome to articulate their issues. Trans women and men are welcome and gendered as they wish."

Looks very pleasing initially doesn't it but

DON'T BE FOOLED BY THIS DESCRIPTION

The place is bursting to full of MGTOW's, Men's Rights Activists, Incels and Left Wing Male Advocates

If you choose to go there as a feminist, prepare to be:

1. Downvoted to hell on all of your posts and comments

2. Get shouted down and verbally abused by all the MGTOWs, MRA's, Incels and LWMA's who hang out there

3. Eventually get so fed up of this that you choose to leave in frustration or anger anyway

As I said before:

AVOID r/FeminismUncensored AT ALL COSTS

Got the proof I needed when I went there and attempted to defend feminists and feminism on there. No surprise that the moderator there who chose to ban me was none other than the most MRA leaning one of them all. As I suspected they are censoring out all the feminists there who choose not to succumb to the MRA's on there and more or less agree with them.

That isn't feminism if all you can do as a feminist on that sub is submit entirely to the MRA's there is it?

I gave them 3 tests which were as follows

1 - They would delete my posts which would have proven me right about how they censor feminists over there

2 - They would ban me which would prove me right that the space is for MRA's and any feminists who submit to their MRA agenda

3 - They would leave my posts up to allow the MRA's to attack me proving me right also that they attack feminists in that sub

You might have guessed by my post here that number 3 happened initially and as I had to continue to defend feminism and let the MRA's know the truth about their movement that they couldn't take it any more and decided to get rid of me because I wasn't submitting to the MRA's on there

LOL, r/FeminismUncensored is such a joke of a subreddit. It's no feminism sub at all. Just a circlejerk where MRA's are allowed to say whatever they want to feminists but feminists have to be so careful what they say back.

No wonder so many feminists have left there and I recommend others do too if they are still there and any other banned feminists looking for a sub to go to should avoid that place at all costs.
