Am I reading this right?
(5) A signed application for a permit to purchase firearms shall constitute a waiver of confidentiality and written request that courts, the health care authority, mental health institutions, and other health care facilities release information relevant to the applicant's eligibility for a permit to purchase firearms to an inquiring court or the Washington state patrol firearms background check program.
This is on page 5 of the Substituted House Bill 1163 (https://lawfilesext.leg.wa.gov/biennium/2025-26/Pdf/Bills/House%20Bills/1163-S.pdf?q=20250204013100).
This bill would give permission for courts and the state patrol to access protected health information in order to determine if someone is eligible to purchase firearms?
What kinds of health information would they have the right to see? Involuntary institutionalization for self-harm or psychosis may make sense. But does this give them a right to see the medical conditions or mental health diagnoses you've had in the past?
It doesn't specify. At best, this is a violation of privacy and gives absolutely too much wiggle room for the state to determine what makes someone eligible to purchase firearms.
I'm planning on moving to Washington this summer and I'm also in the market for my first guns. It seems like moving a rifle into your state has gotten a bit complicated given that half the go to options these days are banned. So given that I'm wondering if anyone has a recommendation for anything that skirts the restrictions. Preferably not stupid expensive cause I'm trying to save for the move.
Can I legally sell my pre-ban AR to a Washington FFL? Or what are my options?
I could use some assistance, They posted this image as a response:
Reminder that the HB 1504 meeting is 8 am tomorrow. Please leave your “con” position here if you can get the page to load.
Last I counted there were about 24 pros and 8k+ cons.
The website has been down for hours - conveniently (for the bill sponsors) blocking any more cons … Is this just bad luck, a flood of cons overwhelming the servers or a conspiracy? 🕵️♂️
Anyone know where I go to get a CPL in Maple Valley? I called the local city office and they said that it's handled by the local King County Sheriff office, I walked into that office and they said I need to schedule an appointment online, but that online system has said there are no available appointments and it's been like that for a couple months, so I suspect the system is broken...that or everyone in Maple Valley is packing.
Hi all,
I’m moving to WA temporarily for seasonal work, and accordingly will be applying for my CPL as a nonresident. However, I’m concerned about my ability to actually receive the license- if they just mail it to the address on my passport, then it will be sent to my anti-gun family on the east coast, causing a ruckus and making the license inaccessible to me. Is there any option for mailing it to another address or for picking it up in person?
Hello new to this sub usually a frequent user of Ca guns and had a few questions as I am moving to Washington in June for roughly 6-8 months for work.
So once I apply for Washington license and update my address after 90 days am I available to purchase a handgun or Semi auto rifle. I have read a few different sources that say you can't buy handguns or semis until after establishing residency after 12 consecutive months.
Also doubt I'll need to change anything but I will be bringing to ARs with me a featureless and fixed mag with the juggernaut tactical hell fighter . Will I need to do anything to these or are these neutered enough for your state.
Where can I shoot outdoor near Vancouver ? non range
I got some at the place I bought my gun, but they weren't cheap and I was hoping to find either a brick & mortar shop near the CBD of Seattle or Tacoma, or a trustworthy website - thanks!
Got a pin and weld locally, looks like ass? Does this look reasonable?
I stopped by KP Gunworks yesterday to submit paperwork for a pistol, but they were closed. A notice on the door said they're closed Saturdays and Sundays after 3PM, so I went back today about 12:45, but they were closed again. Their voice mailbox is full, and the number doesn't respond to texts. I don't see anything on their FaceBook page about closure today, which is sort of concerning. Anyone know what's going on with them, and if everything's ok?
I have lived in eastern WA since September. I'm stationed here, active duty.
I would like to bring a pistol back from Alabama(flying) when I go home on leave. I've been looking for answers and can't seem to find any. Most I'm finding is for purchasing or applying for a CPL.
Can I expect some problems if I do this?
I have a bolt action. 308 with a ten round magazine. I've looked through the hunting regulations, but I don't see anything about any magazine restrictions for hunting in WA. Can anyone clear that up? I can get a 5 round restrictor if needed but would rather not.
I did this course from them when it first started years ago but now I need to do it again. It only gives me an error message now when clicking "Get Started" with course.
Their support form also gives an error. Anybody done this course from them recently? Last step is to call them up but thought I'd ask here first.
Alternatively, is there another site as convenient as them? I only found Legal Heat which seems not as great..
Does anyone have advice for FFL Dealer in Portland, OR? Thinking Small Arms Specialties for purchasing a Bolt Action or AR Lower. Appreciate the info. FYI I live in WA.
Hey gang, I live in South King county and am looking to get a G19 cut for a rds. Anybody have shops/people they've worked with that I could look into?
Been looking for a good semi auto for hunting, stumbled onto this A300 while browsing Sportsman's warehouse and I've taken a liking to it; The reviews seem pretty good on the site, but I wanted to see if any of y'all have one and if you experienced any hiccups with it.
Looking on the steps to take on acquiring my CPL in king county. Just through looking online it seems I need to fill out the application through the sheriffs office. What office is the quickest or that you have personally went to? Is fingerprinting done through the sheriffs office or is that 3rd party? Can this also be done through the king county courthouse? Are they now accepting credit/ debit cards?
I appreciate all of your help!
Edit: thanks for the feedback everyone! Got an appointment scheduled and look forward to returning back with good news.
There is significant interest in firearms and Second Amendment rights in Washington State. I have visited multiple gun stores and vendors across the state, and without fail, there are signs encouraging individuals to join various groups advocating against perceived infringements on these rights. However, there appears to be a lack of a well-organized, collective effort to oppose legislative measures introduced in Olympia, largely due to insufficient coordination and advocacy.
These rights impact Democrats no less than Republicans, as lawful firearm ownership is prevalent across the state. To achieve balanced and reasonable legislation, it is essential to build strong bipartisan support and foster a unified movement. However, many individuals either lack access to or are unaware of how to engage with their state representatives, further limiting their ability to influence policy and protect their rights.
To those in this community, if you are aware of any active organizations—whether on social media or through other channels—dedicated to this cause in Washington State, please share relevant links or information. Strengthening grassroots efforts and increasing public engagement are critical steps toward ensuring that these concerns are effectively represented in legislative discussions.
I have sent a formal request to the NRA as to how they are trying to help our rights in this state. Although the NRA continues to be a completely useless entity, they may be able to help with national recognition. I encourage you to do so as well. Today the Washington House Committee on Civil Rights & Judiciary (CRJ) voted to advance the following bills out of committee:
Enhancing public safety by establishing secure storage requirements for firearms in vehicles and residences.
The above bills are not yet law. Each above proposed bill would have to pass the WA House of Representatives by March 12 @ 5:00 p.m., and then have to survive multiple committee hearings and votes in the WA Senate before an April 16 deadline. Recently moved to the area, pretty hassle free experience.
1/11/25 - Filled out the application online
1/20/25 - Submitted fingerprints online
1/31/25 - CPL approved
He said the p229 is the only good one that's on cheap and expects it to last 1-4 weeks before it goes back to normal pricing. P220, P226 40th anniversary also are a tiny bit cheaper but nowhere as cheap as the sig p229 for noe.
And the rock island gi 45 is 290.
ChatGPT is aware of the current house bills and you don't have to give it very much for it it write a succinct message.
Then go here to find your legislators https://app.leg.wa.gov/districtfinder/

While I'm not the biggest fan of TheYankeeMarshall I admit I'm lazy and don't feel like regurgitating what articulately lays out in his latest video.
This is ultimately about running FFLs out of business and performing search and seizures of your private property with no legal mechanism for your belongings to be returned to you.
No knock warrants in the middle of the night: incoming
It's not about constitutionality in their eyes, it's about running out the clock.
I know. Don't say shit. I get it. But I have a quick question.
Let's say I went into Oregon to hunt and took a semi auto rifle that is banned under the AWB in WA state. Is it technically importing if I took that same rifle back into Washington meaning I am a resident of Washington? This is a 100 percent hypothetical question, of course.
