r/Sino is a subreddit for news, information, and discussion on anything China and Chinese related. Read the rules before posting. Some submissions may need manual approval.

Notices:

  • ISIS-K back in the news recently. A year ago Vice reported their (failing) targeting of China over Xinjiang. No Muslim countries believe, only literally ISIS backs US propaganda, upset China dismantled their movement in Xinjiang. Use your brain...or at least be upfront who your team is.

  • It's that time of year again! The New Year for the Chinese calendar. Again, whether your calendar is rooted in the Chinese calendar or not (wikipedia and/or AI can help), you don't get a say on what the Chinese calendar new year is called. Regardless what it's called, the traditions are Chinese as well (script calligraphy, lanterns, fireworks, firecrackers, zodiac animal, red envelope, etc.), so suggesting all lunar calendars (Chinese one is lunisolar btw) celebrate with them is even more absurd.

  • Trolling over DPP is pointless. The only changes from the last administration was countries dropping recognition. Last times Pelosi political hype only resulted in a blockade and subsequent defacto Chinese dominance in the air and sea minutes from Taipei. This DPP is even weaker than the last. Tibet, Xinjiang, HK, SCS...is this some sort of '5th times the charm' desperation? 😂

  • If you are new, go through the fakenews flair and these inconvenient truths first to be more informed.

  • CPC National Congress Reflection...of all the things anti China clowns hyped and then lost in the last few years

  • 'rEvoLuTiOn Of OuR tImE' 😂

  • Imagine "trolling" that the island of Taiwan is not Chinese with the literal Chinese flag in the early 1900s. Fun fact, nobody ever say the island was not Chinese when ROC sat in UN China seat. After PRC takes over that very seat magically it's different. 🤡

  • Imagine obsessing over China's population and forgetting over 90% are Han (over 97% in Taiwan), the largest ethnic group by far, writing with Chinese characters and (mostly) speak Mandarin...distant second is either a mish mash of Arab countries or (more accurately) Bengalis.

  • US continues to be forced to toss away their professed values trying to maintain hegemony. Free speech lost to user restrictions. Free media lost to news bans. Free economy lost to gov. led. Free trade lost to trade restrictions. Complete 180 on government in personal lives. No matter the excuse for it, the value being tossed isn't China's. That's what really gets under their skin. That their values failed and they had to abandon them.

  • Groups that bought into "U.S. values" rhetoric, worked for U.S. then got betrayed: Hmong (Vietnam), Syrian rebels, Kurds (ISIS), HK rioters, Guaido (Venezuela), Afghan servicemen/translators (Taliban, who are now mocking Iwo Jima photo while wearing US military gear 😂), Ukraine (Budapest Memorandum, NATO membership)

  • lockdown protests or pro democracy belly flop

  • With yet ANOTHER failure by the US at the UN on Xinjiang, sidebar no longer has enough room to document all their humiliation. Most recently Western initiative outnumbered 96 to 50 -> info moved over to our archive thread

  • "aMeRiCa StAnDs WiTh TaIwAn!" -> then right after saying that America watched, from afar, as Taiwan literally got surrounded, blockaded and violated. Then had to stand there and listen to countries all over the world react to all this by restating they adhere to the One China Policy. Not praising US or supporting Taiwan. Black Sea shipping slowed to a crawl without Russian deal. How many defacto blockades can Westerners pretend not to see? No land alternatives for Taiwan genius.

  • Border Disputes with India https://archive.ph/gEjok

  • Message the Moderators of r/Sino (bottom of sidebar) for info on discords and telegram. The spaces cater to any regular participant on the subreddit (post history required) and/or any ethnic Chinese (verification required).

  • If you are new, you'll need to build up your karma on Sino in this fashion: comments first -> then link submissions -> then text submissions. Just because a submission is removed by the automod does not mean it won't be approved. Only thing that guarantees it won't be is if you delete it.

Rules & Guidelines:

  1. Follow Reddit's general guidelines.
  2. Don't troll (in any form including concern trolling and tone policing), flame bait, engage in subreddit/meta drama
  3. Limit use of unnecessary offensive language. Excessively vulgar, violent, sexist or crude language. If you use a Chinese surname as an insult or any Chinese term in a similar disrespectful fashion, you'll be permanently banned.
  4. Don't submit reddit related content. Best case scenario is a 3 day warning ban with a permanent ban for repeat offenses. Nobody told us to do this, we just don't care about the topic. Crosslinks to other subs are fine if the submitter posts regularly in the sub they are linking.
  5. Stay true to the topic of discussion. Don't use tangents to divert into vaguely connected agendas. Make your own thread instead of hijacking others. Don't editorialize titles to get attention.
  6. If relevance to the sub is not explicit in link submissions, explain why it's relevant in a comment.
  7. Don't spam submissions. Limit submissions to 2 at a time. Wait a few hours before submitting again. We don't accept text submissions for links that can be its own link submission.

basic logic: "Overcapacity" is a stupid made-up concept that makes no sense in Global Trade, because any time any "export" happens, it's an "overcapacity" in the producing country that spills to another country.

For Example: Hollywood films, overcapacitied, and over subsidized: https://goodjobsfirst.org/hollywood-companies-using-massive-public-dollars/
