Coding help?

Is there a place like MakerSpace but for comp sci/coding?

I’m working on a personal project. I’m not a technical person and am running into an issue I need help with.

Curious if there is a place I can take my computer to and say, “help…”

Home/Apartment carpet steam cleaner recommendation in Saskatoon

I live in an apartment on the east side and am in the process of closing the deal to buy a house. The house has carpet which is dirty and the owners won't have it cleaned before they sell it. I live in an apartment and the apartment management told us to have the carpets steam-cleaned and vacuumed before handing over the keys.

So I need to have the apartment as well as the house cleaned. I'll get the possession of the house on December 20th and need to empty the apartment by December 31st. Who do you recommend for carpet steam cleaned, someone who's willing to do the job during these days? just in case turn of events only allow me to have 'em cleaned after Christmas and before new years, is there anyone who works between those days or will most of them be on holidays?

Well water filtration

I’ll be in Saskatoon in the Spring, and one of my tasks will be to help mum-in-law improve the quality of her well water at lake cabin. Can anyone point me to a store or individual who can bend the learning curve on this topic and help me pick a system/technology to install?

Saw My First Cybertruck Today.

It was in front of Co Op Gas in University Heights. Definitely a big boy. I was there to buy gas to I only saw it back up.

Good luck to whoever owns it given the reports about quality control problems and rust. Price on the base model is apparently 138 grand Canadian before sales taxes.

Has anyone had eye surgery at city hospital?

I’m getting a small surgery on one of my eyes in a couple weeks on the 4th floor centre at City and I’m just curious as to what to expect. I haven’t been to that hospital before so I’m not familiar with how it functions and just wanna prep myself best I can.

Just because the roads are icy in Saskatoon, doesn't mean you get to run red lights. Slow down!

Seen numerous vehicles blowing red lights turning left or accelerating through intersections.

Thoughts on a 6 week free trial - I love Kickboxing

Hey! I am curious if anyone has recent updates on the I Love Kickboxing gym. There's a free 6 week trial I saw on social media and I'd like to join, but I read reviews from years ago. They were heavy on sales. Any recent updates or reviews on the experience?

Selling unused/new semi parts

Hi everyone! I have a bit of an unusual request and was hoping Reddit might have some advice. A family member who owns a trucking company has a lot of new/unused parts they’ve asked me to sell. Unfortunately, we’re past the return policy, so we can’t take them back to the store. Does anyone know of a good place to list semi-truck parts besides Marketplace? Thanks so much in advance!

Has anyone ever had to get an indoor air quality test for mold or asbestos in their home or workplace? How did the process go?

I recently noticed a weird musty smell in my house and decided to get it checked out. I am thinking to get the air quality test. In Saskatoon, I search about it and get Built Environments, they are indoor environmental consultant. If anyone had any previous experience with them and how it works then please share.

Looking for solid MMA gyms

Hello all, I’m looking to make the move out to Saskatchewan, I’m an 18m and my current passion is MMA, my dream is the ufc and so I’m just curious as to what the gym situation looks like out in Saskatchewan. I looked through the subreddit and none of the previously asked questions answered mine. I’m looking for the top gyms that will provide good training and also give me a shot at propelling my career in the sport.

Bought my first car. Thank you kind Redditors!

I am sure this post will be deleted sooner or later by the moderators but a few months ago, I posted here asking about good car dealerships and what to look for when buying a car (even through private sale) as I was a complete newbie. I got many helpful suggestions that I revisited over time while being on my quest for a car.

I just wanted to thank the kind people who took the time to provide advice and suggestions since it helped me buy my first ever car yesterday, a 2008 Honda Fit with 145k, through FB.

Thank you!! 😊

Are there any pro-inclusivity organizations in Saskatoon?

Not just asking to clown on the hateful guy who’s post got removed, what are some good and welcoming orgs in the city that newcomers may want to reach out to?

Accounting business

Hi everyone,

I’ve been working as an accountant for over five years alongside my colleague, who is also a Tax Guru. I’m now considering starting my own business offering services like bookkeeping, payroll, year-end financials for businesses, and personal tax preparation. I’m excited to assist business owners in Saskatchewan and other provinces as well.

I’d love some advice on how to attract and build a client base.

Any suggestions?

Collision

Dec 1 5pm ish

At the intersection of preston avenue and 8th street. I tried to turn left onto 8th street and there were cars going straight to Preston and we couldn't see each other. The car going straight tried to avoid me and hit the snow right at the light pole. I was so confised and scared and didn't know what to do and there was a car behind me honking telling me to go straight. I tried to u turn right after that to go back to check but the car was gone. Flashing back, I know i should have turned on my hazard lights and got out of the car to talk. I think this intersection has cameras for stop lights. and it looked like a few other cars had both sides license plates. i didn't mean to be hit and run. as a new immigrant i didn't know what to do. I know it was totally my fault so ì you can advice me what i need to do it would be greatly appreciate. Do i need to call police to report or sgi? Or both?

Another Taxed Service Reduced Again

Looks like a change of collection schedules again for Saskatoon, another reduction of services, with no tax reduction to the end user. Surprise, Surprise.

The city has been picking up the green bin bi-weekly since the service started. This was accompanied by a reduction of black bin pickup throughout the year. They also added extra charges to the bills to cover the green bin fees. I was already upset with this change as I found winter to already struggle with the shortage of space in the black bin. I was able to work around this by diverting green waste into the green bin. I was and still am filling my green bin two times a month, and place the cart out as such.

Now, im not sure what to do. I know how my neighbours get by it, when I look inside my their blue bin half the time its full of bo recyclable materials, greasy pizza boxes, bloody ground meat trays, packing peanuts and plastic wraps.

Its no wonder people start to dispose of their waste in alleys. Guess you just need to remember to make sure materials like receipts and bills don't make it into those bags.

Hand/toe warmers

Hi everyone, I was wondering where in the city anyone has seen/bought packs of hand and toe warmers. I saw some toe warmers at Mark's, but 10 for $30 seems like a lot compared to previous years... Could be inflation I guess. But I thought I'd ask if anyone had seen them anywhere else. I'm open to reusable hand warmers, but I'm not sure how that would work with the limited space inside of a shoe/boot and without making it harder to walk. I hope that makes sense. Thanks in advance!
