Rural Democrats: Democratic-leaning discussion of news and politics for those living outside the big cities. A home for a perspective of the party that's not just for cosmopolitans. It's okay to be a little bit country and still vote blue!
Even in the most Republican districts in the nation, Democratic candidates still receive 18% or more of the vote. This subreddit aims to grow to be a place that provides a platform for the voices of Democrats on rural issues, and a community for Democrats in predominantly red country. We also hope to foster a celebration of country culture in its many forms within the Democratic party. It's a big tent party, let's act like it!

Content policy:
For now we're taking a very broad definition of rural - we want to provide a home for Democrats in remote areas and any Democrat who feels small in a sea of red. This subreddit welcomes news, politics and culture for Democrats in small towns, rural areas, and "red" country.

So happy there's a group for us, I certainly seem all alone in Rural MO. And honestly, unsafe. It's really that bad. And these are people I've known my whole life! What's happened?
Hey there, Rural Democrats! I’m John Snow, a candidate for the Washington State Senate in the 39th Legislative District, and I’m running to flip my district blue.
I know the challenges rural communities face because I’ve spent years talking to people in areas just like the ones we all live in. From the rising cost of living to the lack of reliable rural transportation and the monopolization of farming by big corporations, rural folks deserve better representation. My platform focuses on lowering property taxes, supporting small farmers against industrial farming giants, and ensuring that rural transportation systems get the funding they need to better connect our communities.
As a Navy veteran and union supporter, I’m dedicated to protecting workers’ rights and fighting for fair wages and safe working conditions. My opponent, Sen. Keith Wagoner, has consistently voted against common-sense measures that would benefit rural communities, including gun safety reforms and protecting local jobs. We need pragmatic leadership that’s in touch with our realities, not out-of-touch politicians serving corporate interests.
I’m asking for your support to bring real change to rural Washington. If you’re ready for leadership that puts our communities first, consider supporting my campaign! Donate here and let’s flip this district together. https://secure.actblue.com/donate/elect-john-snow-1
