Be vigilant if voting tmrw in NC

(Please be vigilant and help others as the below is unnerving. I sent this to some NC women I know and figured it's worth sharing.)

I'm hoping by now that most of you have taken an opportunity to vote early. But for those of you that plan to vote tomorrow, be careful and use common sense.

I share this because my brother who is canvassing in the Fayetteville area said law enforcement is letting folks know that a KKK group out of Lexington wants their followers to intimidate black women at the polls.

I don't think the KKK realizes this is 2024, and what might have been intimidating in the 1950s isn't going to cut it today, but that said, take care and do what you have to do.

And yeah, I can't believe I'm sending this in 2024, but here we are. 🤦🏾‍♀️

Buffer Zones at Poll Sites

It is my understanding that there is a 50 feet buffer zone around the entrance to the polls. In Hampstead, Pender County, NC, there is a large van parked at the entrance to the poll doors with a massive Trump banner covering the entire vehicle. It's been parked there all day yesterday and today. It's impossible to enter the building without walking past it. There are often men in red Trump hats outside the van, maybe 10 feet from the entrance to the building. I pass by the polling location several times during the day and it's always the same. Do buffer zones not apply to early elections? If they do apply, how can I report this obvious violation?

Post it Notes with QR code for voter registration information, policy information.

We’ve launched a website, stickyvotes.org, where you can easily print post-it notes designed for undecided voters. Simply leave these notes in places where potential voters are likely to see them.

Each note includes a QR code that, when scanned, directs users to our website. There, they can find voter registration details by state, policy information, and other essential resources.

This initiative started as a way to reach women voters who may feel pressured to vote in line with their family or spouse. Some of our notes are specifically designed to address voter security concerns and the importance of personal choice.

It’s easy to participate—just print, post, and help make an impact. Plus, you can track engagement on our live heatmap, which shows where the QR codes are being scann

What’s the plan for the 6th District? Is there a write-in campaign? Or are we just handing it over to the GOP?

Is there any organized plan? Why would we just willfully and flippantly hand over a congressional seat?

Raising Money for North Carolina Absentee Voter Outreach

Hi Democrats,

Building Bridges for America & Team Pete For Harris-Walz are raising money for an outreach campaign to reach absentee voters in and from North Carolina (military, overseas, etc) to make sure they vote. With mail ballots going out today, time is of the essence and we could use a lot of help fundraising. We’re matching every $500 bucks so any little bit helps get us there. Please consider helping us out. I really appreciate it!

Campaign Yard Signs

Does anyone know if it's possible to pick up campaign yard signs for Stein, Jackson, Riggs, etc. locally rather than ordering online and having them shipped? I've gotta believe they can be found without needing to waste money and resources mailing.

Fight the monster abortion ban, veto override happening Tues 5/16

The veto override votes have been scheduled in both house and Senate Tomorrow, Tuesday 5/16.

Calls to action for now until tomorrow :

Contact these four folks and beg them to not strip us of our basic right to bodily Autonomy.

Rep. John Bradford: 919-733-5828 Rep. Tricia Cotham: 919-733-5749 Rep. Ted Davis: 919-733-5786 Sen. Michael Lee: 919-715-2525

We're not sharing a script and encouraging folks to be kind, but honest, about their opposition. Tell your abortion story if it feels safe.

Call to action for Tuesday: If you can, arrive at NCGA by 3:20 to ensure you can get in, and grab a seat, before 4 PM.

Prepare to be there a while - Don't bring a poster unless your OK leaving it outside the gallery. Water bottles and food is not permitted inside either.

You will be in good company! Make sure the NCGA doesn't pass this thing quietly and without an audience of the very same people who will vote them out.

NC GOP LED Assembly Hates Smart people

What's going on in North Carolina's general assembly will make what Florida started child's play as it relates to higher education.

NCGOP are not only following DeSantis' play book, but they are one upping it. Breathtaking in its idiocy and broad in its expansive short-sightedness.

And let's face facts. You really want to save money? Stop eyeing faculty! How many faculty members are paid six figures, particularly at the NC Community College level? I work at a NC Community College and 18 admin make over 100k. As a group, these administrators are dysfunctional at best, but tbh, mostly incompetent AF.

And yet the average faculty annual salary? $50k.

One thing about being in higher education, we aren't stupid. We see through the BS.

What all these bills are about is to muzzle academic freedom of speech, curtail the instruction of our country's history/complicated racist past and policies, and to gut DEI initiatives vis-à-vis prof. development, all while curtailing recruitment of students and faculty.

Simply demoralizing!
