Getting married/changing name on Oct. 19

I am getting married on October 19th and changing my name. Will I still able to Vote? Will the name change process happen quick enough to allow for this? I am in New Hampshire.

Ambiguous residency. How do I vote?

I’ve lived in Michigan for 3 years, but moved to Wisconsin in July. I still have my Michigan ID/license. I don’t have a personal address in Michigan but I have family in Michigan and might be able to use their address. I will also be taking a class in Michigan in November and I will likely need to figure something out like absentee. How do I vote this year?

I'm moving from Missouri to Oregon in October, a few days after the registration deadline for both. Should I simply vote in MO, even though by voting day, I will no longer live there?

Hi there. Oregon registration ends on October 15th. Missouri registration ends on October 9th. I'm moving a few days after the deadline for both, and I'm not currently registered to vote in either.

Is it ok to register for Missouri now (my current residency), and come voting time, mail-in a vote for Missouri, even though my current residency (at time of voting) will be Oregon?

Or should I do something else?

Thanks for reading.

Just registered to vote

I checked my registration to make sure I'm still registered, and guess what, I was purged from the voter rolls. I'm a former republican in deep red arkansas and I still got kicked. I am no longer voting red and i ve learned the true party that is republicans. I made the deadline by 4 days in arkansas. Please check your voter registration and please go vote. Check it at vote.org

Voting Absentee Abroad

Hypothetically, let’s say you request an absentee ballot from NY because you’re going to be out of the country from now until Election Day (let’s say in Mexico). You thought you had plenty of time to receive the absentee ballot before you leave the country, but alas it arrived the day after you leave. What would be your options to vote? Have someone mail your absentee ballot to you (is that allowed?)? Vote at an embassy?

Pessimism and complacency are both bad! So let’s discuss which swing states are most important without complacency!

So of course Pennsylvania is the most important, but due to having 16 electoral votes, is Georgia the second most important to win? Register to vote: https://vote.gov/ Volunteer: https://www.mobilize.us/ Donate: https://secure.actblue.com/

My ActBlue donation not appearing on FEC site?

Hello! I donated $20 in early August, but I can’t find myself on the FEC site at all. Does anyone have any idea why it might be missing? Thanks!

Calvarese for Colorado (CO-4)

Former independent senator Bernie Sanders’s intern, Trisha Calvarese, is a rising star in the Democratic Party and will fight her heart out as she runs for Congress (Colorado-04) to unseat Lauren Boebert.

Even prior to entering politics, Trisha stepped up in a big way on issues important to her and worked for agencies bettering America. Trisha’s a fighter, probably learning this from her grandparents who owned an actual boxing ring! She’s also an advocate, organizer, and writer (and she’s funny too, go check out her campaign videos). She has dedicated herself to efforts that educate others about the importance of environmental conservation and enriching scientific discovery.

2024 is about a lot of things, one of which is keeping our country strong. It’s also about looking forward and voting for candidates we believe in and who have the future in mind. Trisha has shown she cares about keeping health care benefits like Medicare and Social Security strong, making healthcare affordable, giving veterans the benefits they so rightly deserve, and championing women’s rights. In congress, she will vote for legislation similar to the Protecting Medicare and American Farmers from Sequester Cuts Act. She's also the pro-union candidate in this race and one of the most pro-union candidates running for office, actually having experience working with unions. She worked for the largest federation of unions in the country, (AFTE)/ AFL-CIO.

Trisha has long been fighting good fights, and it’s time we fight for her. Volunteer, contribute, and donate to my ActBlue contribution form: actblue.com/donate/colorado-calvarese .

Does phone banking still require using your personal phone number?

Looking for volunteering opportunities, I see there's a lot of phone banking listed on mobilize.us. Last time I did that, they had you use your personal phone, and between that and donating to democratic candidates (and stupidly giving my real number), there was a such an influx of spam messages I almost changed my number.

Are there VOIP set-ups for this now, or is it still you on your cellphone?

My confusing experience voting in Pennsylvania via absentee ballot this week

I am registered to vote in Pennsylvania but live abroad, so I vote via absentee ballot. I just want to share my experience so people know how confusing it can be.

Checking registration status

In July, I went to https://www.pavoterservices.pa.gov/pages/voterregistrationstatus.aspx to check my registration status. I got the message: "We are unable to match your information with our records. You may edit your information and try your search again or you may contact your county voter registration office to confirm your voter registration status."

After triple-checking I entered my information correctly, I tried to find the contact info of the country voter registration office, but couldn't find it. I then emailed the PA Bureau of Elections. They told me "You will need to contact your county regarding your registration as it appears to be "On Hold". They gave me this link https://www.pa.gov/en/agencies/vote/contact-us/contact-your-election-officials.html which helped me find the county contact info.

Thinking I might not be properly registered (even though I had received a primary ballot), I emailed the county. I received a reply stating: "You are all set up to receive your November 2024 ballot via email. You will receive that once we have ballots available to send."

Completing ballot

Last week, to my relief, I did indeed receive my absentee ballot via email. I will not go into the details of actually opening/printing the ballot, but it involves 2 emails and a password-protected document. The process went smoothly for me as a computer-savvy person, but I am fairly confident my parents would have struggled.

The part I want to highlight is that a form that goes along with the ballot asked for my county, city, ward, and district. County and city are obvious to me, but I don't know my ward and district. No other clarifying information is provided.

I did some online searching and eventually went to https://www.pavoterservices.pa.gov/pages/FindYourDistrict.aspx. After searching my address, it stated my:

  • United States Congress congressional district
  • State Senate senatorial district
  • State House legislative district

I thought maybe I would list the congress congressional district, since this is a federal election, but I wasn't sure, and also the ward was still not listed.

So, I emailed the county again. They responded: "Your precinct is [removed]. Your precinct does not have a ward."

I still don't know if a precinct is the same thing as a district (?) but I assume so. And I guess I will leave "ward" blank?

Concluding thoughts

I understand these are all minor inconveniences. I don't know if listing the wrong ward/district (or leaving them blank) would have impacted my ballot in any way. But still. Voting should not be so complicated!

Recently moved, should I update my voter registration?

I moved recently but haven’t updated my drivers license yet as my new address will only be temporary. If I change my voter registration so I can vote here instead of driving two hours back to my old county, will it be an issue that my drivers license doesn’t match my registered address? Should I just make the drive back and vote where I’m already registered?

My name on my voter registration doesn't have a space. Is this a problem?

Hello, I just confirmed my voter registration status and it seems like my name appears a little wonky.

My first name has 2 parts. Example: Green Apple

But when I check online, my first name appears as: GreenApple, without a space in between

In some voter registration checking sites, they are able to trace my registration if I search by "Green Apple," but in some, they only can check if I search by "GreenApple"

Does this matter? I've voted in the past and I think it was certified, but I don't remember if my name appeared like this back then.

Cheers

How to vote while traveling abroad?

California (LA County) resident here, I'm a touring musician and I'm trying to figure out how to vote when I'm going to be in Europe from September 30th to November 6th. Apparently, they can't send my mail in ballot before I leave, and I won't be back in time to physically submit it. Is there any way for me to either get my ballot extra early or have it sent to me while I'm on tour? I would really love to contribute my vote even if my state isn't in danger of going red.

Does anyone know of any good volunteer opportunities to fight republican attempts at election interference?

It seems republicans are doing everything they can to suppress voting and to prepare to contest election results. This republican interference has me more worried than the voting itself. Anyone know of volunteer opportunities to push back against interference attempts?
