Shaedon Sharpe has had an underwhelming start to his season and isn’t emerging as a centerpiece to the rebuild, instead he has continued his trend of inconsistency and disappearing. He’s still bad on defense, his handle keeps him from being able to create off the bounce, and he’s settling for a lot of inefficient stepbacks.
Often with young prospects, there comes a point where the book starts to come out on who they are, and there is a turning point where they become viewed as less of a mystery box of a prospect- right now around the league most still talk about Sharpe regarding the idea of his bottomless potential, rather than the reality of the product we’re seeing night in and night out as fans watching every game.
All that is to say, if we trade Sharpe this year we could potentially get a much better return, as he still has this year and next on his rookie scale contract before RFA, and the third year is seen as crucial for determining who players become. Right now we’re on the precipice, and we’ve seen the highs (back to back 30 point games this season as an example of what peak Sharpe’s appeal is) as well as the lows (lazy defense, inefficient scorer unable to get to his spots, net negative on the court who passes up shots and opportunities as a passive bystander.)
What would it take to get you to consider trading away Sharpe? Part of the idea is that with Scoot busting so hard he has no trade value, and Sharpe not stepping up as a go-to guy, we’re farther away then we thought and need to really rebuild from the ground up, full tear down if these guys aren’t going to be “the guys” so to speak.
Would you trade Sharpe away if it helped land Cooper Flagg or Dylan Harper? What about trading Sharpe for Ace Bailey or Tre Johnson? Is there a line in the sand where you start to consider it?
All jokes aside it is nice to see him win this. Especially against OKC. Hopefully it’s a good sign for the Bucks in the playoffs so he can win a real one. I know some people here don’t love him anymore, but I never get tired of watching him play.
Damian Lillard, NBA Cup Champ. It's good to see him win something.
Anyone watching this? I don't watch much nba anymore, catching this game. Lillard not touching the ball and sitting in the corner on whole possessions? What is this
This just for fun, if this happens who would you want the Blazers to select
Is there a way to get around nba league pass’s 3 hour delay ? (National tv games aren’t eligible to watch for 3 hours after they end .)
Other than sailing the seas
Don't see how we trade Ayton so Grant and Ant deals it is...
If you don't like these - then come up with some better ones... not very easy with the new CBA
Let’s say we end up with a record somewhere in the 5-7th worst range as end up with a 1st round pick between 7-10. We’re not drafting a center, so that’s not a concern. Of the dudes commonly listed in that pick range on the big boards, who would you most disappointed to see the Blazers draft?
For me it’s either VJ or Knueppel. Neither one is the pure shooter or playmaker we need. They are both intriguing prospects, but not a great fit for us.
Hey all, Im flying to Portland tomorrow and saw Jokic is in town Thursday. 100% will be buying a ticket, however I have only been to 2 NBA games since my Sonics were robbed from us.
I do not know how the views are in your arena and wondering if any of you guys have any suggestions? Not rich enough for courtside seats but Im willing to go above my budget to enjoy some NBA basketball for once :)
Hey I’m a young new blazer fan and I’m wondering what happened to Jermaine O’neale I was going through basketball reference and it looks like we gave up on him so quickly. Dude was a stud. Can Any older fans educate me on what happened?
Fight me. Deandre Ayton and a 1st.

Jerami Grant, F
Portland Trail Blazers
Current deal: Grant is in the second year of a five-year, $160 million contract signed in 2023. He has a $29.7 million salary this season. The ink was not even dry on Grant's contract before he was subject to trade rumors. The reason: Damian Lillard asked to be moved one day after Grant agreed to re-sign in Portland.Entering Year 2 and with $122 million still owed, Portland once again is faced with a decision on whether it should part ways with the forward. On the surface, that answer is yes.Grant is 30 years old and does not fit Portland's post-Lillard timeline, but his ability to guard multiple positions is ideal for a playoff team. Unlike Ingram, who can become a free agent in the summer, the acquiring team would have Grant for the next three seasons.Portland is facing a shrinking window to deal Grant. Unlike fellow trade candidate Kyle Kuzma , whose contract declines in each season, Grant's salary increases, making it more difficult to trade. (He has a $36.4 million salary in the last year of his contract, when he will be 33 years old.) On the court, he is having his second-worst statistical season of his career, shooting less than 40% from the field.

Scoot, Shaedon, Camara, Deni, Clingan need to be our starters at some point this season.
It's tough to find out if Scoot has the goods to be a starting PG when he coming off the bench and the lineup is all over the place. Shaedon also isn't benefitting from Ant starting. The whole vibe of this team is off and won't get better until at least Ayton and Ant are gone (preferably Grant as well).
4+ years ago - before Deni was selected in draft I asked whether we can describe Deni's ability to run fast breaks is his elite skill...
https://www.reddit.com/r/NBA_Draft/comments/jhqijc/does_leading_fast_breaks_may_be_considered_deni/
"I would say that as a player which is extremely fast in open court, good defensive rebounder, good finisher and great passer in open court with excellent court vision and very good precision of passes sent at full speed Avdija has potential to became one of best in the league in this element..."
Some examples of Avdija's abilities in open court in Maccabi:

...
There're also bounce passes, lob passes, outlet passes and so on in the post :)
I feel like you could make the case he's our best player right now, so it seems weird to me that he isn't a starter. I understand why the move happened in the first place when Deni was bricking every 3, but he's well past that slump now. I also don't see the justification of him playing 8 less minutes than a Jerami Grant like he did tonight.
I personally think Deni deserves a bigger role, more minutes, and a spot in the starting lineup. What do you guys think?
