In the Crystal, the VR-rock lenses I can always feel my eyelashes touching them. Usually ignore it, though it does create some smudges occasionally that I can wipe.
Was curious about trimming, but because I'm a guy it might look weird AF if I end up cutting too short! Also I'm not sure of the logistics of it, like how hard it is to get right such a small operation.
Anyone done it, is it hard to get right and what's the technique/tool to use?
Did it look weird afterwards?
I'm interested in eventually buying the Big FOV lenses, I would love to get closer to the ultra wide FOVs that Pimax is famous for but I have to ask a couple things.
For those who have tried it, I know chromatic aberration would be a difficult thing to objectively measure without special tools but how does the chromatic aberration of the big fov lenses compare to the 35 ppd/stock lenses? Significantly better? About the same? Worse?
I haven't seen anyone talk about the chromatic aberration of the big fov lenses so I would really like people's opinions cause it's the one thing that REALLY bothers me about the stock Pimax Crystal.
Also, does anyone have measurements they could share regarding stereo overlap, BIG FOV vs 35PPD? I've read some people claim that it's barely a difference while other people have claimed it's a huge step down relative to stock. I'd like to see the numbers if anyone is willing to share.
One more thing, are the Big FOV lenses available now for regular order?
I got the Crystal earlier this year and since I mostly play Flight Sim (DCS/MSFS), I didn’t find it too heavy but heard a lot about the Studioform Headstrap so I ordered it. I got it and put it in and found it to be good! The only issue I did have was that since it’s secured with Velcro it’s fixed into place. If I had to adjust it I would have to take the headset off and try to adjust it and hope I got it right.
I decided to go with the first party solution and the Topstrap is great on so many points. It sits in top of your head but since it has that concave shape to fit my noggin it fits so well! The weight is not a factor and now I can keep the headset on and adjust it and see if the feel and the vision is the best. To make all these small adjustments is spectacular. Not only can you tighten it but it can swivel towards the forehead or to the crown, whatever feels better for you.
A third note that I have to give Pimax credit for. When I got the Headstrap I saw the grooves where the screws would go in but thought where would it go on the headset and when I moved the foam pad I saw the predrilled holes! That told me that a lot of planning and designing goes into these products. It wasn’t just an afterthought! Kudos Pimax!
Even though I have the original Crystal, I am eager to see the value benefit that the Crystal light is gonna bring!

Hi,
I would like to know what the Crystal resolution is if I set render quality to:
Balanced
Maximum
Customize: 1
Thank you
Hi there, i own a set of normal vive trackers and lighthouses, and i know that i need to buy the lighthouse faceplate to use the index knuckles and other controllers, but does this also apply for full bady tracking? i wanted to get a crystal light since both quest 2 and 3s airlink, steam link and virtual desktop work for me, but displayport does. Thank you in advance for all answers
I would consider that fraud because I bought the Crystal only because I was sure I could get the trade-in and if I knew otherwise I could have tried to sell 8KX long ago. Why are there no news about 12K that was promised long ago? The fair thing to do by Pimax would be to apply the promised Trade-in for Crystal Super! Right?
just asking as I have done searches and found pimax rep mentioning its in the plains like 9 months ago but yet still don't really see a option out yet. I have opened a ticket but thought maybe some of you may know and suppy a answer sooner lol
thanks

I’m currently in a support process because the battery does not charge while it is in the headset. I’ve tried just about every tip and advice the internet can provide, but not able to fix it. While trying to solve this I tried stand alone mode for the first time and discovered a few problems and this is what I want to get some feedback on here.
Sound: I can hear some kind of electrical buzzing, sometimes chirping in the headset (like electric static) while in AIO mode. This does not happen in pcvr mode.
Screens: I get differently coloured, but mostly horizontal lines on the screens in AIO mode. This does not happen in pcvr mode either.
I have a video of this and would be grateful for any comment or advice given on what the problem might be or a solution. I don’t use AIO mode, but think the problems there can give an indication of an error within the headset that might explain the charging issues I’ve been having since I got the headset.
recently got my crystal but after a few races in iracing I'm feeling the resolution alone isn't enough to wanto keep it. getting used to the 1m focal is anoying for 1. thing hurts my nose even with the Apache strap and is just unofertable (its not the weight either as my q3 has a bobovr s3 with vr ears attacjed and weighs 1.2kg but far more conferrable) , chromatic aberration sucks.
I run a 7800x3d with a rtx 4090 and would say for me anyway the clarity is not that diffrent especially at q3 full res and 900mb bitrate over link to warrant the discomfort of the headset and getting used to the 1m focal distance.
I wanted to love this thing but it's not happening atm I'm going to try give it another week and see how things go
oh and the fact I can't use my bass shakers as it vibrates the image around is also a deal breaker even with the openxr toolkit that's is supposed to minimise it doesnt work
I don't know why I'm posting this probably just venting 🤣
In the past week or so my crystal has suddenly decided to lock itself to half frame rate even when the option is unchecked. I get 60hz in 120 mode and 45 hz in 90 mode. The only way I have found to get full rate in AMS2 is to start the game and then check 'lock to half frame rate' and apply and then uncheck and apply again which gives me the full 120hz. Anyone else getting this?
Title
Good morning all.
I've looked around and found a lot of great questions asked regarding configuration and software settings, but I'm looking for a much more basic hardware/newbie question:
I'm new to PC gaming (it's been 25 years since I played games on a PC) and am getting back into it. I want to play DCS & Half-Life: Alyx. For DCS I already have a HOTAS and rudder pedals. What other accessories do I need for the Crystal to play DCS & Half-Life: Alyx?
The light face plate? Different controllers then the ones that come with the Crystal? Base units?
Thank you all for your patience,
Matt
Hey guys new crystal owner here, just curious if everything seems to run fine without the powered usb hub is it OK to not use it?
also do you normally always try to ise DFF or just when you need too?
and is there a way to see the desktop without taking the headset on and off all the time ?
I set the screen off time to never and covered the proximity sensor with adhesive tape. Nevertheless, the Crystal is dark when I start Pimax Play and takes a moment to switch on. Sometimes you have to press the power button first.
Is there a way to switch on the Crystal when I start Pimax Play and switch it off again when I close it?
Hey Crystal Owners
Just letting you know our new New PU Leather Foam Kits are available for the Crystal. Website link in the comments
The kit includes a pack of our face foam spacers which allow you to fully customize the shape and eye/lens distance the facial interface to suit your exact face shape. The PU leather pads are made from super soft 10mm memory foam, perfect for users who love to achieve a larger FOV by having your eyes as close to the lens as possible. For people with larger noses, you can slowly build out the lens distance by adding spacer gaskets
By customizing the facial interface you reduce the need to overtighten the head strap which helps over long game sessions

Hello everyone, a have question, and excuse my ignorance, does local dimming consume PC resources? Or is it merely managed by the headset, that is, does it affect the fps performance?
Another question, I've read that local dimming causes the blues to overlap, is that still the case?
Thank you very much already
Hey all. I recently got a hold of a used Pimax 8k P2 headset (black casing). It's not in the best condition, has a HTC vive deluxe strap which is a big too big for my head and causes quite a bit of pain on the bridge of my nose.
After messing with ipd and getting it to sit right, the immersion it pretty good, miles better then the og vive I had years ago.
Decided to consider other options and have been searching online for specs. Struggling to find anything useful, was hoping for some help here. What is the difference between this headset and the 8K X?
Should I consider replacing, or just make this one fit better? The resolution is OK, I wear glasses and will be looking to get lenses for whichever headset becomes my main. Thanks in advance.
...will it be dynamic or fixed? I wasn't able to read this anywhere, may be that pimax had opportunity to test this too or already knows a bit of their implementation...? guess we'll have to wait to just see, I'm just hefty curious atm 🤓😇😁
or may it be in future that when only fixed pimax can do something on their service runtime level for enabling dynamic, or is it needed (and only possible) to be done on EA side anyway? from my understandings until now implementing / enabling dynamic (or even simple fixed only) is always in software / game developers hand too, means the'll need to enable it in their pipeline or something.
Currently I’m buying the BigScreen beyond however I do plan on upgrading to a mega high end headset and upgrading my pc next year after moving.
Probably will need a graphics card higher than 4080 to run that thing. For now all we have is 4090 but next year there might be more powerful graphics cards.
Maybe the pimax super will be even better than the beyond because many headsets have other features that the beyond doesn’t. Perhaps Crystal Super will have an even higher resolution and clarity, eye tracking, and maybe also an inside out tracking feature. Plus the BigScreen Beyond required some sacrifices to be made for the headset size to be as small as a pair of glasses.
I’m aware inside out tracking is not great but it’s something that’s nice to have when you don’t wanna be using your base stations all the time. Those things could make a ton of noise while you’re sleeping.
Nothing changed, turned the headset on, and suddenly I only have audio coming out of the right speaker, I turned everything off and on, reseated all the cables, disconnected and reattached the left DMAS speaker and still no sound... any ideas?
hello, new pimax crystal owner.
I noticed that mid-game sessions my eye tracking stops working. This happens consistently after about 20-30 minutes of play.
when logging out of the game I noticed that this error pops up in pimax: "Mismatched Lenses detected. Please turn off the device and reinstall the lenses."
I don't think there is anything wrong with my lenses... since they work just fine for the beginning of the game, also restarting the pimax fixes it.
Does anyone know how to bypass or remove this error?

Hello,
So, I got a Crystal with the lighthouse faceplate and the 6m optic cable. Everything works great except that I have to swap the battery after like 4 hours when using the Pimax hub. 2 hours if plugged directly into the computer.
I've read many people who apparently never ever have to swap batteries, and honestly that's what I'd like too.
I was thinking about maybe buying a better powered hub, but I'm not sure if it would change something, or which specs I should aim for (voltage and such).
Any help would be greatly appreciated !
