Before I purchase the pimax crystal light I want to know if the high field of view lenses will work with it. Anybody have any experience with this? I am wondering specifically about the Crystal Light. Not the normal Crystal and not the crystal super but the crystal light. I can't find any documentation about this anywhere nor can I find any information about this anywhere. I can't stand the low field of view on most headsets now. After experiencing the high field of view with the pimax 8kx I just can't go back.
If I want to get the maximum optical quality out of e.g. Automobilista 2 with the Pimax Crystal and the fps don't matter for now and I want to use the OpenXR toolkit, is it enough to deactivate Foveated Rendering and Pimax Play in the toolkit and not overwrite the resolution in the OpenXR toolkit?
What should i do if my pimax portal is stuck on "phone is starting" screen? Has anyone experienced this? Grateful for any type of help!🤗
Gonna talk about this for the Dream Air. The only differences color wise that I have noticed between the Quest 3 LCD and BigScreen Beyond Micro OLED is that the Quest 3’s display was a bit brighter and The beyond has deep blacks with no noticeable Backlighting.
Other than deep blacks the BigScreen beyonds colors or contrast levels, I just don’t find are anything new to write home about, everything else is about the same as a regular LCD panel. The colors in the micro oled panel weren’t anything new to me coming from an LCD panel.
The colors in the Beyond are not bad but I’m not impressed with it for such expensive displays.
My Crystal Light I’ve gotten insanely saturated and vibrant colors with decent black values thanks to the contrast and brightness setting in Pimax Play. My guess is with mini led panels the pixels can change their brightness independently from one another therefore vibrant colors and black values can be changed and adjusted separately from each other with mini led displays.
I have no idea if this is possible with Micro OLED panels. I have literally no knowledge or education on OLED displays. It’s very uncertain whether or not the color saturation of micro oled panels can be adjusted with the help of software. Especially because micro oled panels probably don’t have a backlight at all.
If it is hopefully Pimax eventually provides settings in their software for the Dream air later to adjust the color vibrancy and saturation so everything looks much brighter and more vivid on black contrasting scenes like with my Pimax crystal Light.
I am reaching out to Pimax Reddit in the hope that they can resolve and issue with my Pimax subscription . All of the details including screenshots are on ticket 92631. Jenniffer, Julie and Echo Peng have been involved but the issue remains . I have 2 days left on the trial and I need this headset to continue to work after the trial ends. I have prepaid for a subscription.

Hello all,
My rig has a 4080 Super, and I run various Windows installs for the environment I need for iRacing. Sometimes, I would like to run with Triples (one environment), and other times, I want to go VR.
My issue is that my triples take up all my DP ports on the back of my GPU. I tried this DP switch, but my PCL does not like it (it will not detect that it is plugged into a DP port when active).
Have any of you successfully gotten a DP switch to work with a PCL so that you can push a button and use your PCL? If so, please link me to the device that works for you.
Thanks!
Hello my shipping number is PM5154517
After I contacted support they told me that I had not put number in my address and I updated that immediately
They assured me that the stock is ready to ship at 24 of January
I am still waiting
I bought it with "EUshipping" code the day I got the prom email stating that with this discount I get free shipping and 20 euros refund if it's not delivered in 2 weeks time
I understand that it got delayed by my mistake but it's been way more than 2 weeks and I had to correct it myself they did not even notice me and I wonder what would happen if I didn't ask for it
My question is would I apply for 20 euros refund or they would tell me that it's my mistake even though its almost 2 weeks from they day they told me it ready to ship and I updated it?

I have a friend with Index and Crysis 1 vr mod works great for him. But for me... the arms are stuck to my head. Tracking is working, just the arms aren't tied to the controller they're stuck to my head.
Now i was messing around with some stuff reinstall and a bunch of things and I did manage to get Arms attacked to my controller. But 2 days later i fire it up, no changes have been made to my PC and my arms are stuck to my head again.
Anyone figure this out?
I usually play games in 4K. My main focus is MSFS VR and competitive games (Marvel Rivals, PUBG, Dota 2). My top priority is improving VR performance. In competitive games, I’m already getting sufficient performance at 4K resolution.
I’m planning to get a Pimax Super 57 PPD for VR. Right now, I have a Quest 3.
Current Setup: • Ryzen 7 5800X3D • Radeon RX 7900 XTX • 32GB RAM
I’m considering two upgrade options and want to know which one would provide the best performance:
Option 1: • Ryzen 7 5800X3D & RTX 5090
Option 2: • Ryzen 7 9800X3D & RTX 5080
Which one would give me the best performance for vr sim?
The crystal light on amazon is listed at $700. Is that the true FINAL price to own and use the thing? Or is it $700 plus the $200 description fee?
Haven't seen much recently about the release date of the 12k. Do you guys think that it will come out sometime this year or should I give up waiting and just buy the Crystal Super?
There have been a couple reports from the official Pimax Discord of the Pimax Crystal (Light), and one possible report of an 8KX but could've been cable issues, not working with the RTX 5000 series, enough to say it's probably a general issue with their HMDs. Know one person posted about some troubles earlier on a 5080 but there's been a couple cases and I can confirm it also effects the 5090 as I got it myself earlier and the Crystal will not provide any display output, even when using a high end powered DP Repeater which fixed a similar issue on the 3090 TI, with two other people echoing similar sentiments of no display output despite the Crystal registering in the software and not spitting out any error code.
Pimax has started getting log files from those with a 5000 series and are effected so we'll see how long a fix takes, esepcially since it's still a national holiday in China, but if anyone's considering the 5000 series primarily for a VR upgrade and use a Crystal as your main HMD, you probably wanna wait. If anyone does have an RTX 5080 or 5090 though and has some other brand's HMDs to test with it, do share results since seems like it may be a Pimax issue as the PSVR2(Tested myself), Bigscreen Beyond, and Index appear to work, but not every HMD was effected by the 3090 TI issue so always good to get a bigger sample size and determine if it might also be general Nvidia issues with VR.
EDIT: Hearing from somebody the Aero doesn't work on the 5000 series too. So this seems like it may be a wider issue of super high res HMDs.
From my experience in this Sub Reddit, one of the reasons everyone is mad at Pimax is for announcing new vr headsets too early and frequently. Even though the Crystal super isn’t finished they announced the dream air and that most likely won’t come out when they say it will.
Maybe if Pimax slowed down a little on trying to release new headsets they would have less Quality Control issues.
I’ve been impressed with Pimax lately, but it just seems they’re a little too hasty on making new vr headsets and should take more time to consider the development process of their newer products.
If they want to make money then they need to improve so they can get more satisfied customers like me who will keep on buying from them.
Would anyone here agree with me?
Im basically saying that I’m proud of Pimax but at the same time I’ve heard of stuff they need to work on and I agree.
Beyond frustrated now. How do I get this stupid thing to actually work?
Before the winter holidays, I received a set of replacement lenses because the original ones that came with the headset had visible distortions. Even then, it was difficult for me to judge, as the Pimax Crystal Light is my first VR headset. I had never tried one before—not from friends, in a store, or anywhere else. So, I really have no baseline for what to expect in terms of the exceptional clarity this headset is supposed to offer.
Below are some through-the-lens pictures taken with the new pair of lenses, but I honestly can't tell if they are an improvement over the first set.
The sweet spot seems to be very small, and after reading other posts in this sub, I've noticed that people who get good lenses often praise the edge-to-edge clarity.
Even if I'm slightly off-center in the sweet spot, I experience extreme chromatic distortions.
At least this pair of lenses doesn't have the physical distortions that the first set did. However, after installing the new lenses, I noticed a small black mark. I’m not sure if it’s a dust particle or a scratch, but it's on the inside of the lens. When I installed them, I followed the official guide, which stated that the inside of the lenses was already clean and didn’t need wiping. I was also very careful during installation, so I doubt I caused any dust to get inside.
Please let me know if this is how it's supposed to look, as I have absolutely no baseline for comparison.
Also please let me know if checking the lenses with the steam VR ROV test is an appropriate methode!
100% sweetspot still chromatic distortions
slightly further away from the lense
dust particle or scratch inside the lense
Was working yesterday with the occasional issue of the broken tracking (where it's no longer tracking the floor when loading a new room/scene).
Today it won't launch. I get a gray or white popup text listing errors about either not finding Index.html or Auth.html.
I tried to get my AI to troubleshoot it but after uninstalling it, deleting folders (from users/... too) it continued to not launch. Rebooted. Had my AI check the logs. I got nothing.
There was the Tobii service running but IDK why that is running. I don't have eye tracking.
What else to do? Did this just happen to anyone else?
Hey everyone,
Are you having the same problem that your GPU usage is very high when PimaxPlay is running in the background? When the software is running, my 4090 uses about 200-250W while the PC is idle.
In Star Wars Outlaws, the PC also needs 8GB more VRAM for the same settings when PimaxPlay is running and the VRAM Bar is flickering, even though the game is only displayed on the main screen.
I don't quite understand why the load is so high when the glasses are switched on but not actively used.
My 12v power supply sounds like a cricket. Do they all make a noise? Should I put a ticket in?
Hey,
Anyone else have this issue. I have most recent version of pimax play, and an 8Kx.
Found that after I installed the most recent Nvidia GeForce drivers for my 4090, my whole computer would lock up after I start pimax play and the HMD is connecting.
Was fixed my rolling back the Nvidia drivers.
I see people talking about PimaxXR and things like Quad Views, I know very little about these things. Are they settings within Pimax Play? Is there a way to get an FPS counter up inside the headset?
I am trying to run the new version of NMS on the Pimax Crystal Light, however while the game starts into the game screen fine, NONE of the buttons will work, so I can't start anything. I can't even quit out, I have to go out the window and shut it down. I've noticed that in the intro screen the game has an `exclamation mark` for buttons to use, meaning it has no idea what buttons do what. I've tried several things so far nothing's working.
It used to work fine before the update.
Any idea how to fix this?
Anyone got a good video of someone installing the studioform pads on a crystal light?
I’m having a hell of a time getting these to line up correctly.
I wish they had a more detailed video. They only one from them I could find does the movie magic where it’s already installed.
I heard they’d put a cpu in the headset for standalone mode but only for watching tv. In my opinion I don’t think the Dream Air needs any standalone capabilities. At that point you should just buy a Quest 3 instead or maybe the Play For Dream perhaps.
I think the Dream Air should just be a simple plug-in play pcvr headset with inside out tracking like the Pimax Crystal Light and Hp Reverb G2.
I know many people dislike wired vr headsets but this doesn’t bother me too much because I play sitting in a chair and find it very complicated and interrupting to keep stand-alone vr headsets powered on which is why for Pcvr I prefer a simple plugin play inside out tracked wired vr headset.
Especially when you consider the fact that WiFi routers are needed for wireless pcvr due to excessive latency and are very expensive compared to plugging in a simple cable into your standalone or pcvr headset.
Seems companies want people to be able to take these vr headsets everywhere but the problem with that is you can’t just take a vr headset outside because some of their components are very prone to sunlight. And with a screen attached to your face you’re not gonna see where you’re aiming your vr headset at and you’re basically waiting for accidental damage.
I highly don’t recommend using your vr headset outdoors. I don’t know why people do that on YouTube. I think it’s a very unwise choice and that they shouldn’t be doing anything like that at all. They risk damaging brand new products and wasting our environments limited resources.
I hope this is a temporary compatibility issue on Pimax end and will be patched later, but Crystal Light simply does not work with a 5080. I've made a support ticket but I thought I'd still share in case anyone else is awaiting their 5080/5090 and is eager to try out the VR performance.
After turning on Pimax Play it would normally take a few seconds for headset to be detected and get up and running. However, with a 5080 it seems to be stuck in a weird loop where it tries to connect (while causing very high GPU utilization) then stops for a moment and freezes the whole system for a brief second, then tries to connect again in a loop every 10 seconds or so. PimaxPlay says 'Screen off' while this is happening but it never turns on, even when putting on the headset. The loop seems to run for ever or until completely closing PimaxPlay.
I've tried reinstalling and updating both the Nvidia drivers and PimaxPlay. No other variables apart from the GPU changed overnight, it was working fine with a 3080 a day before. The 5080 runs monitor games without issues.
I'm going to be really angry if I fire up DCS in about half an hour and I only have 3dof.
Upgraded from a first gen vive, I love it! Everything is so clear and nice. My 2080ti is sweating a bit, but it works.
