The kakapo (Māori: kākāpō or "night parrot"), is a species of large, flightless, nocturnal, ground-dwelling parrot endemic to New Zealand.
As of 2016, there are only 154 living Kākāpō in the world, all of which have names, and all living on three closely monitored, predator free islands around New Zealand.

Hi, I have two female kakarikis (Lottie and Per). They had a male friend who suddenly passed away 3 months ago (Artie). Artie and Per were always close but they left Lottie out. Despite this Lottie still loved them both and would try to join in. Since Artie's passing, neither bird has been the same. They have always been free in our pet room and have never been locked in the cage. Lottie now hides in a box at all times and only comes out for food, she screams at us if we try to get her out or move her. Per always looks sad and doesn't play anymore like she used to. We are not against getting more males but if they don't get along we don't know what we will do as we have no space for extra cages or to put them in a separate room. Any advice would be much appreciated.
So I have a 2½ year old alexandrine parrot. I've had him ever since he was a baby. When he was about 2 months old he got paralysed due to the lack of nutrients in his diet provided by the guy we adopted him from. For one entire month he was paralysed, couldn't move his body, but he would use his beak to drag himself to move around. After providing him with good diet, he finally recovered and could walk easily, but his right leg was slightly affected. To this day when he walks he limps a little from his right side. Cut to the chase, he never learned to fly, and probably this might be the reason behind this. He never really flies on his own, prefers walking over flying any day, only when he has no other way out or gets spooked, he flies. I've never really clipped his wings. He just finished molting and grew a new set of feathers and humoungous wings. What happened today was, he got spooked (he gets spooked of the most random things and sounds) from the sound of my mom dragging a chair and flew took two rounds around the house and clashed into the wall and fell down. I was extremely scared tbh. I've tried teaching him how to fly but he, for some reason just doesn't want to. I don't want him breaking his bones, should I just trim his wings a little so that he would atleast not clash himself to the walls?
I'm home sick in bed with a cold watching Leave the world behind on Netflix when I noticed one of my birds having an air bath and I had to record it. He is named Pikachu. His wife Chica is above him. I made their perch out of an old artificial tree decoration I had if you're wondering. I just added a couple branches on to it and they love it. I also painted on the mirror part of the toys so that they don't see their reflections.
I have two female Kakariki birds who have unfortunately just lost their male friend. They are around a year and a half old and we got them due to our males female friend passing away. The male (Artie) preferred (Per) one of the females and they would both often leave the other female (Lottie) out. The birds do have a cage but have always been left free in our pet room. Since Artie's passing Lottie hides away from Per and screams at us if we go near her. Obviously this is a very unhealthy situation. I suggested to my mom that we should get another male but after further research this doesn't look like a good idea either. Does anyone have any suggestions of anything we can do to resolve this? We really don't want to rehome either bird. Thank you in advance.

She is super calm on him for the first time ever ! It could also be decreased hormones. I’m right beside him and she isn’t territorial at all! She also goes on me too no issues around him ! It’s so relieving 😭 she’s such a good bird 🐦
