Employees… when it comes to portion, about how many pieces of chicken should be in the string bean chicken for 1 entree

Ty in advance… please don’t get me wrong. I count calories so I just want to make sure it’s not over or under portioned

Today was my last day and it feels so weird

I started at Panda a month after I turned 16 and now I’m almost 22 and starting a new job. I was sooo ready to be done with panda but now that it’s over I don’t really know what to think. I made some amazing friends and memories at work and it’s all I’ve known for almost 6 years. I’m excited for my new opportunity but I also kinda want to cry it just doesn’t feel real to not work there anymore

Shift lead potentially?

I’m a foh right now and my manager talked to me about shift lead position. Does the pay depend on location or experience? What are the details about this job position?

Can someone please, please give me the recipe for the honey walnut shrimp sauce?

I’ve tried so many copycat recipes from Pinterest, and only one got me even close. But even then, it wasn’t the same. I just want to make my favorite guilty pleasure meal at home! Thanks in advance.

What's a 404a plan? Is it like a 401k?

What's a 404a plan? Is it like a 401k?

One of the documents alongside the Associate Handbook etc is "404a Participant Fee Disclosure". I searched the subreddit and didn't find any mention of "404a".

Food waste

I work at Panda Express and my co shift lead and I always get shifts together and he does food waste while I do money. I’m wondering, because he’s supposed to go on vacation next week, if anyone could lay out the steps for submitting food waste into the system?

Scheduled Outside Approved Availability Despite Approval - Need Advice

Background:

On December 17, 2024, I submitted a permanent availability change via my workplace scheduling system (Legion). I requested to be available Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM, and unavailable on Tuesdays and Saturdays. This change was set to take effect January 26, 2025. My manager approved the request the next day (December 18).

The Issue:

When the schedule for January 26–February 1, 2025, was posted, I was assigned shifts outside my approved availability. On January 25, I reminded my manager:

“Hey [Manager], I just looked at next week’s schedule. I can’t work past 4:30 PM starting January 26, as I have classes right after. This was requested and approved weeks ago.”

Manager’s Response:

- “Sunday you can’t work at night?”

- “If you have so many restrictions, especially on weekends, I’m not sure about your hours. You already asked for Saturdays off every week.”

- “If you can’t work weekends at all, I can’t promise your hours every week.”

I replied, “I understand,” and they followed up, “So you can’t work at night at all?” to which I confirmed, “Correct.”

Conflict (January 27, 2025):

Despite this conversation, the manager texted me on January 27 2025 asking where I was for a 12:00 PM–5:00 PM shift—outside my approved availability. 3 days later, on January 30 2025., I clock in for my 11AM-2PM shift. My manger informed me I was being written up for a “no-show.” I reminded them: “You had six weeks’ notice about my schedule change. I also reached out when the schedule was posted to clarify I can’t work past 4:30 PM.”

My Frustration:

- The request was approved over a month in advance.

- I gave a polite reminder when the schedule error occurred.

- The manager dismissed my availability, then penalized me for their oversight.

Questions:

1. Is this write-up justified, given the approved availability change?

2. Who/How should I address this with HR or higher-ups?

3. Has anyone dealt with similar scheduling conflicts after approval?

TL;DR: Manager approved a permanent availability change, scheduled me outside of it, dismissed my reminders, then wrote me up for not working the invalid shift. Need advice on next steps.

Panda Express Fried Rice And Noodles

Is it me, or do you guys find the fried rice and noodles a little bland and sometimes dry? I love their dishes, but I always feel like these sides are low quality. I feel like if they upgraded their rice and or got a jasmine rice option, and they made their noodles tastier, this place could rival Chipotle in terms of popularity, especially since they just came out with a bunch of healthy options too. What do you all think?

Great interviews, then got a text being denied a job? What?

Had my follow up interview which went fantastic. Midday today I got a generic automated text that says they were going with other applicants. Why?!

I have 14 years of front facing customer experience, and recently I can't get a job working at Meijer, Walmart, gas stations; now I can't get a job at PA?!

I just feel so discouraged. 25 plus applications in the past few weeks and either interviews then being rejected, or no response at all.

How to be a team player

What are some of the panda ways to be viewed as a good team player and someone who works well with others?

New management took over the location i work at and recommended we improve those areas without being specific on what needs to change.

Am I being unfairly terminated?

So my store has a new manager and I can see that she doesn't particularly like me, and last Friday she called Mr over to her workstation and lectured me how I already should have been terminated in December due to being late 2 times 9 minutes late the first time, 11 minutes the 2nd time btw), (I called in and notified the AM/PIC that I was running late do due traffic both times btw) and being a no-show once, She also told me that if something out of my control happens which isn't my fault then it's fine, (AS LONG AS I HAVE PROOF).

I was scheduled on Sunday and while driving to the store my tire popped and I had to get my car to a mechanic, as soon as I noticed that my tire popped I texted photos of my popped tire and called her AND the AM which was there informing them of what happened and that I can still get to work if they want because my friend can drop me off, after 15 minutes the AM called me back and said that he found someone to cover me so I don't have to come in.

Yesterday I start getting texts from her about coming in today for a shift from 11-4, I agreed showed up ready and as soon as I changed clothes and clocked in she told me to sit down in the guest area, after 15 minutes of waiting she called me over to her station, showed me a record of me being late twice and said that after speaking with "other team members " she has come to the consensus that this is a regular problem for me and that I didn't take the chance she gave me on Friday, I tried telling her that on Sunday my tire literally popped while driving and started showing her photos of the tire, she didn't even look at the photos and said that regardless she is terminating me because "I am not up to panda standards"

Am I being unfairly terminated? Anything I can do? Any advice?

P;S other employees have been an hour late or a few minutes late sometimes and haven't been treated this way.

Do not ever say "double _____". Wait till they have finished scooping the first item, then say your 2nd item.

I did two visits to test this out, both with the same employee. I ordered the bigger plate both times.

The first time I ordered "double orange chicken, and Beijing beef" before they scooped anything.
What he did was did one scoop of orange chicken, then spread it around. Didn't do a 2nd scoop of orange chicken. Then he went to fill the 3rd item in a separate box.

The 2nd time I ordered a plate. I pretended to still decide what I wanted, but staggered my order. Orange chicken for my first item.. paused... then bejiing beef. As he's filling up the container, I say "oh I'd like to do a bigger plate instead, can I get orange chicken?"

I got way more meat this time compared to the first visit.

stagger our entree orders out. If you say everything early, they'll do light scoops.
