Is anyone else having issues with the Dexcom g7 constantly losing connection with the controller? Mine will connect when starting a new one and then while it’s on it’ll connect for an hour or so and then lose connection. It never loses connection to my phone or watch, only the controller. I’ve tried restarting the controller and it doesn’t seem to make a difference. I keep the controller in my pocket or within 3 feet of me 95% of the time. It’s just really frustrating because it always loses connection overnight too😭 I never had this issue with the g6 so I don’t know if it’s just a g7 problem or I’ve just gotten bad sensors lol
I have had a Dexcom for about two years now. I’ve always switched from one side of my abdomen to the other, because that’s where I have the most fat. I once tried it on my arm early on and there was lots of pain, so I never went back.
I have had my Omnipod for about two weeks now, and I am consistently putting it on the same side of my abdomen every time. I try to pick a different insertion point, but I’d like to give my stomach a break.
What do slimmer build people do for insertion points? I’m considering my arms next, but wanted to get some advice for those who have experience.
Advice from all body types welcome though! I appreciate you all 🙏
This only seems to happen during the night causing me to wake up high. Has anyone ran into any issues like this with the new app? This never happened to me before with the PDM
I bought a new phone specifically for the Omnipod compatibility. It's listed but not compatiable!
ever since putting on my new Dexcom transmitter, it will not connect to my omnipod app, but it is perfectly fine with my Dexcom app?? I have to stay in manual mode to try and connect the transmitter every 20 minutes and I just called support and they said they were putting me on a high priority case since this is “weird”. Is anyone else having this issue? I have deleted my transmitter number about 50 times now and put it back in with no success. So frustrating.
I noticed the extended bolus feature can only be used in manual mode. When do you switch back to automated?
I want to meet with a dietician to get more specific, but any general advice? Like how to calculate for fats and proteins? I'm excited to use this feature and hopefully be able to eat pasta and pizza with a bit less of the nasty spike I get eating these foods.
Hello hello!
I’m from the UK, and just today finished my training to use the Omnipod 5 PDM with the Libre 2 Plus cgm. It’s been working great for the first couple of hours, until I had a hypo and realised the hypo alarm was sooooo quiet.
I’ve gotten a lot of comfort the past five years using Libres knowing that if I hypo in my sleep I’ll be woken up with a loud alarm, so I’m freaking out slightly at how quiet and not noticeable the Omnipod alarms are in comparison. I have the volume turned up to maximum, and I’ve got all the settings on for alarms. It’s just so quiet I don’t think I’d notice it in an emergency.
Has anyone else noticed this issue too? Is there anything that can be done? It feels like a pretty big issue for Omnipod to have not thought of. I’ve had to put a fresh Libre on and activate it with my phone while putting my Omnipod on manual mode until I can sort this.
I am on manual mode and had .15 units of active insulin. Then I set a temporary basil for zero units per hour and five minutes later it said I had 2.5 units active. That’s more than my rate for this time of day is. Does anyone know why that might be? Did it give me that amount of insulin?
I need more overpatches and I know cvs, walgreens, and walmart dont carry the patches. however does anyone else know somewhere that does carry them in store. NC/US.
Currently on my second OP5 G6/G7 pod and both had connection issues during startup. Insulin added, two beeps and multiple "Try Again" to start priming process. First time, I moved the pod around my phone and after three attempts, it primed and no further issues. Second time, I tried 6-7 times to connect. I was close to hitting the "Discard Pod" button... goodbye 125u. So I killed and restarted the app. When I did, I was able to sync with the pod and moved to priming without issues.
I'm not saying it works for every connection issue, but it could help save some pods, units and some frustration.
I’ve been using Omnipod with Dexcom G6 for a while. My blood sugars overnight have always been rock solid (every morning I wake up in the 120s with very little jumps or variation while asleep). Recently, I’ve switched to using G7 and updated everything on Omnipod to get it working. I’ve noticed my blood sugars taking off overnight. Has anyone experienced changes to their readings after switching over to the G7?
I have been using the omnipod 5 for a few weeks now. I can read the basal amount of insulin in the app. Where can I see in the app when and how much the pod delivers extra insulin if I am too high. I think I can only see what is delivered basally.
Thx Henk
Was curious if anyone has heard any updates regarding G7 comparability on the iPhone? I know this was intended as a launch after the G6, but haven’t really heard anything for some time now. Have there been any updates regarding when this can be expected to be released?
I live in MA, and need to sign up for Medicare. Omnipods are considered a prescription (not DME) but aren’t listed in the Medicare.gov drug screener. This makes it impossible to choose a plan because its price is unknown. When I reached out to OMNIPOD all they could do was give me a list of insurance companies that “may” cover it. I’ve called the insurance companies but they can only tell me the Tier and co-insurance percentage. That doesn’t do any good if they can’t tell me the contracted price that I’m supposed to be paying a percentage of. Is there anyone else dealing with this complete smoke and mirrors show concerning OMNIPOD 5 on Medicare? And yes, I did see a SHINE counselor, and she couldn’t figure it out either. I’m so demoralized…and don’t want to be forced back into my old Tandem T-Slim.
So I mistakenly through an omnipod into my sharps bin and locked the bin (it cannot be unlocked anymore). How long does the buzzing last for? I don't want to return the sharps bin to the pharmacy with it beeping like it is now.
Don't have the phone I used to activate it as it's in the repair shop. So deactivating is not something I can do.
I have one left as I switch to the g7. Does anyone need it? Just send me a message and shipping label and I'll mail it to you wrapped in a padded envelope. Edit: forgot to mention, I'm in the US
Does anyone here have any Eros pods they don’t want anymore? I haven’t made the switch to the 5 yet and I’m down to a few pods so I would love to purchase some or at least pay for shipping if any of you have some you don’t want. Thank you!
EDIT: I have a ton of Dexcom G6 sensors that I’d be willing to trade for the Eros pods if anyone wants to trade :)
so I had my 2:00 Am basal rate at 1.9 units. Sugar shot up around 230 every night. Went to 2.3 on my basal rate and nothing has changed. The only way I bring it down in manual 4 units and as high as a temp basal as possible. I don’t get it! I do keep my pdm on automated mode btw. Am on omnipod 5 with dexcom g7.
Anyone else’s phones constant dying since switching from pdm to iPhone app? I have a 14 pro, and it died somewhat fast before but now I can’t make it through a day without mid day charge.
I want to start using the iPhone app instead of the controller and I am hoping I can “start over” with more aggressive basal rates. Currently, I can eat the most perfect low carb meal and sail through 2-3 hours with great BGs. But then I start to rise. Doesn’t seem to matter what I ate. It just feels like my basal rates are too low and need to be increased.
Has anyone experimented with resetting their controller (or the app) to try to get Auto mode to restart its algorithm from newly programmed higher basal rates?
My endo told me to figure my basal settings when I start the app by calculating from the basal amounts in my Total Daily Dose history. If I do this, my basal settings will be even lower than the original ones I used when I started using the Omnipod.
I suspect from watching this space and others on YouTube that the “answer” offered will likely just be to correct often and perhaps more aggressively (and to adjust I/C ratio, Correction Factor, Target Glucose and Correct Above). But I am really hoping I can get a fresh start (even if just from the first 2 days of that first pod after starting on the app) with higher basal rates and that it might help.
A correlating question b/c maybe I’m not thinking about this accurately is this. When I give myself a bolus for a high BG but I’m not taking in any carbs, does that count as bolus or basal insulin in my daily total?
Thanks for any advice! I get a lot of help from this community and I really appreciate everyone here that shares their experiences. And of course I understand any advice shared to be anecdotal and not medical.
Hi fellow podders! I would like to hear your likes and dislikes of using OmniPod 5 and Libre 2 Plus together as an automated system. I have been on O5 for as long as it’s been available and am considering switching from Dexcom G7 and wonder what I might be up against. How is the accuracy of Libre? And the iOS app? And the 15 day wear time? Any info is greatly appreciated…Thanks in advance!
I have 2 daughters on the omnipod. One has been on the Omnipod for about 11 years, the other for about 3 years. Never had coverage issues. Sent in a prior authorization for a 2 day wear, so 45 for 90 days and was denied, appealed, denied, told it was not eligible for external review. Last denial stated the pods are not covered at all.
My daughter that has been on Omnipod is getting them at 45/90 and my other daughter has medical evidence from the Endo that went with the PA that showed she needed 45/90.
Anyone ever have coverage denied from CVS/Caremark after you have been getting them for years?
How can 1 daughter be covered and one completely denied? Caremark is frustrating… and not consistent.
Hi all! I need some information here.
Hi all, I'm in B.C. (Vancouver) and I was told by the Omnipod representative that my insurance, Canada Life, do not cover the pods. The provincial program here in B.C. - fair pharmacare - covers the PDM without any deductible, but only cover the pods after I reach my deductibles.
This will probably lead me to pay $300 per month for 9 months in the year.
Do you guys know if here in B.C. are there any programs to help pay for the costs of the pods? I've heard of programs in Ontario and Alberta.
I've been a type 1 for 16 years now and have never used a pump before. I'm on injections and Dexcom. Thx!!
Over the last few days since I've been on the Omnipod 5 system, its kicked me out of automatic mode several times and i have to sit here and wait for it to start going back down when I push. If I wait the normal amount of time to swap it back but my blood sugar still wont start dropping it just kicks me out again. Ive noticed that it does this if my blood sugar is high for too long? but that seems like it defeats the point of the pod because its supposed to bring me down if it sees im high, no? I keep seeing that it says that itll happen when "im at max insulin for too long" but my chart never has red lines, or if it does its very sparce. Its either blank or has the normal yellow lines when insulin got pushed. How do I fix this??
I've been thinking of getting a tattoo on my arm that goes from my wrist to my neck, and I was wondering if after the tattoo heals, would I still be able to use an omnipod on my arm? Normally I put the Omnipod on the back of my upper arms because that's my favorite spot (and helps other people know I'm diabetic without having to say it since I wear short sleeved shirts a lot) I think it's fine for like one needle, but I'm not sure about a 3 day Omnipod. Any info would help, thanks!
I just love it when I slip applying my pod.
I use the Omnipod 5 and Libre 2 plus. I’ve had 2 hazard alarms (continuous beep) on 2 different pumps in 2 days (yesterday and today). Both times there hasn’t been any error code on the PDM so I’ve had to just discard the pod and then use a pin silence the beep.
Spoke to Insulet and they weren’t much help - just read from a script.
Has anyone experienced hazard alarms with no error codes? Do I just have a bad box of pumps?
Any help is appreciated greatly!
I started my very first Omnipod yesterday after being on MDI for 23 years. (Diagnosed at 2, now 25) For those who have used the Omnipod for a while, i would love to hear any tips and tricks you picked up along the way! Thank you! (I am on Omnipod 5)
