I have an old Nexus 5 with no SIM card that I just use for navigation on my motorcycle because I don't trust having my current phone (Pixel 6a) on my handlebars in case something bad happens.
This has worked fine for a long time but I recently had some performance issues that prompted me to do a factory reset. That turns out to have been a mistake because now I can't get through setup and I think it's because there's no SIM.
I get to the point where it's asking me if I want to add this phone's number to my google account, and the "skip" button won't move on to the next page. It just doesn't do anything. The "Yes, I'm In" button doesn't do anything either, but that's understandable because without a SIM card the phone has no number to add to the google account. But with the "skip" button not working either I'm just stuck here. I can't even use maps like I used to because it wants to update through the play store and the play store won't load due to the setup issue.
So the phone isn't exactly bricked but just as good as. I thought I'd try popping a SIM in to get past the setup issue and then take it back out, but I don't have one the right size. The SIM in my Pixel 6a is too small and it's the only one I have and I don't have an adapter frame.
Any ideas? I think I'm boned.
Edit: Apparently it's not related to the lack of a SIM card. I got ahold of a nano->micro adapter so I could put my Pixel's SIM card into my Nexus and the Nexus is still stuck at the same point in the setup process: the "Add phone number?" screen is the end of the road. None of the 3 buttons on that screen do anything. When I tap on "More options", or "Skip", or "Yes I'm In", I get nowhere. The buttons each highlight to show they've received the focus, so the taps are registering, but no action gets executed. So I guess that's that. This phone is fully borked and I'll be shopping for a cheap reconditioned phone to use as my moto navigator. :(
Anybody want a Nexus 5 parts phone? Screen isn't even cracked.
My family of 5 applied on May of 2023. My 2 younger kids got their conditional offer on Febuary 14, 2024. we scheduled their interview on March 8 at the peace bridge. We had to sign in with the Canadian side then they told us to cross the bridge and go to the Nexus office on the US side. got approved and their card got mailed a week later.
Myself, my older daughter and my husband are still waiting for our interview.

Hoping someone can help identify it for me, tia :)
Recently, i finded my Nexus Q at home and wanted to setup it as media center. I installed Cyanogenmod 11 + kodi 17 and after connecting my usb remote control i can listen to music and watch films from my homeserver. Great device, so sad what google never released it publicly.
Just renewed my passport so I got a new passport number.
When I first got approved for the NEXUS card, the officer said I'd have to come back to the enrollment center in person to update it. But I've read some mixed reviews online that you might be able to do it, and I just checked that I am able to do it online at the ttp website.
Has anyone done this and had no issues when they travelled?
Nexus 7 (2013) not updating or connecting to computer, what to do?
I recently found my Nexus 7 32GB wifi+lte unused since 2019 in a drawer and was thinking as repurposing as a reading tablet or/and navigation tablet for boating.
When I connected it to my computer it immediately started charging and started up no problem. I decided to factory reset it to "start fresh" it reset no problem and it started with os 4.4.2.
When it tries to update to 4.4.4 after setup it starts the update but then i get the unspecified "error" before it restarts again without updating. I get a issue on startup when Google Play says "not connected" and cant update Google services, it just freezes after pressing update.
So i think i could connect it to the computer and manually install it. But my computer doesnt even detect it. Not even as a unknown device. Still charges fine.
TLDR: tablet won't update system, cant update Google Play Services and isnt detected by computer. What to do?
i have a nexus 5x and i can sometimes get it to boot but most of the time it goes to the Android logo and goes black on windows its showing as QUSB_BULK which i know is edl as my Google Pixel is bricked any help is a god send

I’m trying to download an older version of the Ring app on my nexus 7 to use it as a display for my cameras. Anyone have any experience with this? I found some older posts (2018) but the instructions might be obsolete now.
So I found a white Nexus 9 WiFi 16gb on the local marketplace on sale for $18 in an absolute mint condition, tablet only. Seller said that it occasionally hangs and needs a reboot every time it hangs. I knew the problem was related to the stock rom so I pulled the trigger. Now I was a nexus 9 owner and fan back in the day, had a black LTE 32gb version that I sold years ago. I got this for nostalgia and because it was insanely cheap. I said to myself, I'll have some fun rooting and trying some custom ROMs this weekend, of course with super low expectations in terms of performance. So I got TWRP installed, got lineage os 16 (android 9), decrypted and opted not to use gapps at all since I know it would slow down the performance. Now bare in mind they my main tablet is as Samsung Tab S8 and own a pixel 7 pro. I kid you not, I can't believe how well this tablet works without gapps. I got every app that I need via apk mirror including reddit, and this thing flies! I can multitask 2 to 3 apps Max, I even edited pixel 7 pro raw photos in snapseed and it is not sluggish at all, and I still cannot believe that a 9 year old tablet can work this good. I could go as fast as saying that the screen colours are on par with my Tab s8, brightness and viewing angle are DEFINITELY higher and better than Samsungs, and believe me I tested them side by side.
I am blown away how this oven of a chip (yes it gets hot, but not uncomfortable) and 2gb ram can run apps smoothly in 2023. Installed latest YouTube revanced and it just plays everything in 1080p with ease, even in a floating window. I wrote this post on it, an I really enjoy using it.
The first song that is played on this TV commercial: https://youtu.be/uZGDcthVyD0, I don't know where it is. But I'm also wondering if this is an actual song or this was just made for the ad.
I want to maximise performance on my nexus 10, it is running android 5.1.1 but I want to make it go further with a custom ROM, are there any good ones that will help with this? Apparently LineageOS 13 is good but I'm not sure?
I've tried using the WugFresh nexus toolkit but it kept saying that the file was name in an unconventional format, I tried changing the name to something less complex so I changed the file name to just "lineageos", same thing happened
I then tried using command prompt so I went into the default android recovery mode, and selected update from ADB and then flashed the zip file for lineageOS and it said " failed to verify wholse file signature", then proceeded to abort the update. I've also tried to get TWRP by running " flash recovery twrp-3.7.0_9-0-flo.img", but it just came up with " fastboot: error: ANDROID_PRODUCT_OUT not set"
Edit: got LineageOS to work, but cant get gapps without error code 70
Edit 2: I ended up using AOSP because I could install gapps pico without an error
I recently flashed android 5.0.2 onto my nexus 10 and it worked, then I left it charging overnight and it was on 0%, so I unplugged it and used a different charger and now when I try to power it on, it just shows the charging symbol and then turns off, I've tried holding it for longer (30+ seconds) and it does the same thing.
I got a nexus 10 tablet from my college for free because they were going to throw it away and I found out it had been rooted, so I tried to unroot it with the WugFresh toolkit and it just kinda froze on trying to open bootloader so I disconnected it and now the tablet won't go off the bootloader, I can't go into recovery mode because it sends me back to the main menu, if I try to restart it then it just sends me back to the bootloader
Hi guys, I have an old nexus 7 1st generation and I have not used it for a while and I have tried to get it to work but it just won't turn on. I bought a replacement display and I have also bought the micro USB and headphone jack board. I have checked on iFixit and I tried hold the center of the volume button and then plugging the charger in for 40 seconds and it still won't turn on and I don't know why it is not turning on. Please help
