My son's Nokia recently died (can still play snake on my Nokia 5110 though ;) ).
Dug out my old 6P and fired it up, seems he can't connect to a network, sim is Catch Connect on Optus Wholesale.
I'm reading that on some carriers in the US the 6P supports VOLTE but not all maybe?
Could well be the Australian 6P never got the firmware to do it.
Any advice / sugestions?
Open to installing Linage or something, but don't want to invest the time without knowing i might have a resonable chance of success.
Just bought this phone off eBay for 80 bucks to add to my collection haven’t owned one in quite a long time so any custom mods or anything that you guys can suggest would really help
In this video the studio from MKBHD team reviewing all nexus phones and they said nexus 6P was the best phone ever made. As a previous owner of the phone, I didn’t love any other phone as much as this one.

What do you think?
Just realised I have an unused but still working Nexus 6P lying around. My G Photos space has nearly run out (mostly photos) and I am trying to re-upload some of these photos from my N6P instead. But they always show as using storage space. I could have sworn these phones had unlimited for life photo uploads (but only in High/Saver quality, not Original). Is my assumption correct, have I got something wrong somewhere?
I'm trying to flash lineageos 17.1, from PixelBoot, and when I try to flash it through newest twrp(with the bootfix), it says failed to mount /vendor no such device. I've repeated the process and nothing. I've flashed the stock vendor.img, nothing. Any ideas? Thanks 😊
Because of this problem, cant flash twrp or img files.
Warning: skip copying bootloader image avb footer (bootloader partition size: 0, bootloader image size: 3637248)
Now to root it
I've got my 6p running lineageos 18.1, and i cant figure out how to root. ive found no information on it at all. any info? thanks and sorry if this is redundant
It's been almost a decade I can't believe I get notified for new posts on this sub, apparently this phone is still not dead.
Last I checked mine still works but its useless since it doesn't connect to wifi.
I haven't touched the phone in about 2 weeks. While I can hear the buttons and lock sound, the screen remains entirely black. Attempted a restart, but it doesn't appear to solve the issue. Additionally, the front LED doesn't illuminate during charging. Any thoughts on what might have caused this??
i applied the 4 core fix using fastboot flash boot N2G48B_4Cores.img
and now its stuck on the google logo with the unlock icon at the bottom. it just doesnt boot. id appreciate any help!
So I read that there's common bootlooping issues, and I'll look into that more. Is the fix going to affect performance? And I plan on putting lineageos on it, but are there better roms for it? Thanks
Is this phone worth 50 pounds
I'm not getting 1440p option on youtube on nexus 6p.
I bought a second hand nexus 6p. It's working fine. Is there any way to avoid bootloop of death?
Back in 2019 my 6p started to bootloop. I did some reading and found a guide that explained that it was a problem with 2 of the cores. I disabled those cores and it was fine up until I stopped using it in 2020. I recently started using it again a few months ago and it was fine until yesterday when it began to bootloop.
It gets to the screen that asks you to enter your pattern then once you enter it the google animation plays forever. Is there any fix for this that someone can point me to? I thought that disabling the 2 high performance cores was supposed to fix this for good. Any help is appreciated.
I have nexus 6p, unlocked bootloader, installed lineage os and twrp. As finishing touch i wanted to change splash screen, how can i do it?
Hello
I picked up a Nexus 6p I found sitting in a window sill after a bike ride. No ID was on it for me to try to return it to anyone.
I noticed it has boot loop AND the boot loader is NOT unlocked.
Can you send me instructions how to:
Fix boot loop
Install TWRP
Unlock the boot loader
Install custom ROM
I'm not sure which order I need to do this in.
I have already tried various methods I found online to get into the phone and enable USB debugging but I cannot get into the phone because it asks me to enter previous owner's email which I DO NOT have. I even tried the blow dryer thing.
Basically what I want to do is make this phone fully functional with TWRP and custom ROM with full functionality!
Can someone please help me here with the above? Thanks
Like many others my Nexus 6P decided to not turn on anymore out of nowhere. This happened around 4 years ago. If I press and hold the power button or a different combination of power button and volume up or down, nothing happens except for the red led blinking.
A couple of days ago I was again playing around with it pressing different buttons hoping something happens. Then I connected it to a cable which was connected to my PC and left in. A couple of minutes later the screen turned on and the battery charging sign came up. There was no percentage, only a battery with a thunderbolt sign in it indicating that there isn't any charge in there.
Ideally at this point I should have left it as it is and let it charge. Unfortunately I got a bit too excited and tried to turn in on ( pressing the power button) and the screen went blank. Since then I have been trying to reproduce what happened but no luck. When I connect it to my laptop I do here sound suggesting a USB decide is detected but nothing more.
Does anyone know what happened and have suggestions on what more can I try?
So long story short, I still have a 6p I purchased new that I barely used. I would turn it on occasionally to make sure the battery was fine and charge it to 40-60% and then turn it off again.
The phone is basically brand new with a screen protector/case and according to accubattery the battery health is still 91%. It seems like it isn’t worth much online so I am trying to think of what to do with it. My new phones are all eSIM so swapping to it from my iPhone 14 or S22 is not realistic but I hate to see it go to waste.
Any ideas what to do with this thing or is it just best kept as a backup phone for an emergency?
I dont care about making the phone work, it's very old and I've moved on, but it has data I want off of it. it goes to the Google screen and restarts continually. I can get to the bootloader screen and it says:
Ive tried freezing it and the blow-dryer method but neither get me past the Google screen.
I can get into recovery mode and see these options:
I wiped cache partition but it didnt help anything, and wiping data would defeat the purpose.
Hi, so I got bored of the stock android 8 and I want to make my Nexus feel a little bit newer by using a more modern OS, I tried the PE 10 but that messed up the battery and performance, and the stock Os feels outdated, so what is a great Lineage OS version that looks great/ modern and performs great?
Hi, so I am looking for a light weight software for the 6P, I have tried the normal version and the pixel experience one but my battery life and speed had to suffer, is there a Rom that is fast for the phone?
The weirdest thing is, I started to miss the 6p as soon as I swapped out the sim card. The Pixel 6a is noticeably smaller (narrower), despite its 6.1 diameter screen. The 5.7 cm screen on the 6p is bigger when you factor in the unused black area around the screen . The 6a finger scanner is also quite finnicky, often taking three or four attempts before allowing access. The Pixel 6a is a great phone, I'm not trying to find fault with it, but I genuinely thought I was getting a phone that was similar in size to the 6p. I'll pay more attention to ALL the online dimension specs in future. Big hands need big phones :)
Oh, the RMA in the Google store allows you to select 'phone to small' as a reason for returning. :)
Edit: typo.
The only two places i thought about are AliExpress and eBay, but both are a place for scammer and such. So it's hard to determine if the battery am getting is good or not
