Embarking on a 12-day biking adventure in 2024 and need a custom ROM that's optimized for battery life? I'm looking for recommendations on a ROM that can give my phone a new lease on life. It needs to be efficient since I'll be away from power sources, relying solely on a battery pack, and without cell coverage. Previously, I used a custom ROM as a camera for my analog electrical meter. For this trip, audio is key—I'll be using the audio jack for Podcast Addict and Spotify, no Bluetooth. I've heard that kernels like ElementalX, Franco, and blu_spark are good for battery life due to their advanced customization options, including CPU underclocking. Any suggestions?
I need a back up of the rom.
basically I found this phone stashed away in the cupboard and when I tried to turn it on it basically went to the animation after showing google and it was stuck on the animation forever (till the battery died ofc). I also noticed that the power button is sort of squished it but it works properly, like the phone only turns on when i press it, idk if that has anything to do with this issue. Any help would be appreciated
Would this be a good option for this particular use case. We like our youtube music accounts and want to have them available for our daughter. Don't really need a phone but this seems like a good option for that?
My nexus 5 wifi card is not working is there any way to fix this ?
I have t mobile and I can't get cellular data on it. Is there a network where it will work?
I own these bluetooth 'Liquid Ears' earbuds that work perfectly on any other phone/device, but my Nexus 5 seems to break the audio, making it come out delayed, resonating and breaking into regular segments.
Any ideas?
I removed the battery from my Nexus 5 a while ago because the battery was becoming a hazard to keep. How would I find a battery that I can put in that will let me reuse the phone since it does not boot without a battery?
Title says it all, I recently moved home and have been unpacking, found my Nexus 5. Probably my favourite phone of all time (and probably why I still have it). I'm just wondering if LineageOS can give it a jolt in the arm? and if so what's the most modern version I can run?
So the fix is if you don't have the bootloader unlocked you can try this simple hack ( I am not responsible for any damage to your device but it worked for me ) I removed the power button and the actual button underneath and the boot loop is because of the button being broken and keeps pressing so removing it is the solution . But if you don't want to do it by your own try going to a repair shop to replace the button
I've like to use my old Nexus 5 as a GPS for my motorcycle to prevent vibrations from damaging my current phone. I decided to do a factory reset to remove anything private from the phone, but after the factory reset, and after completing 2 factory authentication, I'm stuck on the "Keep your account updated with this phone's number" screen, as neither the "Skip" or "Yes, I'm in" buttons work.
I've attempted to sideload the google play services APK for Android 6.0.1, but when I try to install the APK it just says "Can't Open File". I've turned on the setting to allow opening APK files from untrusted sources, but I'm still stuck.
Any pointers on how I can get the play store working? Really just wanted to use Google Maps, but this has become a real nightmare. Thank you!!
My Nexus 5 has a problem where the screen turns off when trying to make a call, I can’t receive or make calls, but I can still receive SMS and use 4G. I can’t use the GPS for navigation, it often reports that it’s searching for GPS in Google Maps. How can I fix this?
That are broken in some capacity. All three have cracked screens, all three have batteries, one newish. 2 have reset factory systems and one has no motherboard.
Any clue what I can do with this? I feel bad throwing it out, open to all suggestions.
WAs digging through my closet yesterday and came upon my old nexus 5. This thing went through hell back in the day, namely getting a replaced logic board and button sets after being dropped in a bathtub. I plugged her in yesterday and she fired right up. My 1 year old daughter has been playing with it all day today. I was able to update most apps and it is honestly shocking how fast this 10 year old phone is.
Battery life is about as poor as I recall.
Hey everyone. I bought a nexus 5 simply for Kali nethunter. I unlocked the bootloader, rooted it with super su. Flashed twrp recovery. I flash the nethunter package for nexus 5 hammerhead. I got full root access, the nethunter applications installed. When I open the nethunter app to install chroot or the chroot manager it just does not install. When the download completes it doesn't install the file. Is there any way to install it? I left the installation go for an hour and it did not work, I tried the full and min. I tried using it without updating the nethunter app, I tried updating it. Nothing works for it, any help would be massively appreciated
I just bought a Nexus 5 that I want to downgrade to the lowest version possible for the nostalgic Android experience, and I found 4.4 to be the lowest. I'm trying to find a good guide on this sub but they're all posts about warranty and data loss from 2014. If anyone knows a guide on how to do it, please let me know and link one. Thanks
My Nexus 5 won't boot (kernel immediately dies - doesn't even write to and/or create /proc/last_kmsg
!) without a charger plugged in; however even then it shuts off (like, hard shutoff) after about ~30s.
Recovery (TWRP, stock, Ubuntu Touch) and fastboot (stock, Ubuntu Touch) work perfectly fine with no issues. Battery does hold a charge (at least, according to TWRP) so I'm wondering if it's a CPU issue? (Somehow?)
I've tried flashing full stock (boot
, bootloader
, system
, the works) but to no avail.
Is there a fix for this (extremely) esoteric issue, or is my N5 just pretty much dead?
I got this phone for my son so he can play PubG but he's complaining it not working. will this phone play PubG executable? the guy I buy phone from said this was best phone
What can you do with 4.4 in this day and age? I'm thinking about getting a Nexus 5 and flashing 4.4.2 on it.
I have two Nexus, a different one with a broken SIM reader slot that I didn't throw away and my current, 8+ year old friend. Its Wi-Fi recently stopped working by itself, no drops or anything, and no matter how many times I restart Lineage or turn it on and off, the Wi-Fi either doesn't see any network or, if it does, it fails to connect and/or disconnects immediately after.
So I thought of a couple of solutions: I could take the Wi-Fi module from the other one and replace my broken part, this would avoid having to transfer files, reinstall apps and all; if that isn't feasible, I could take the SIM slot from my current Nexus and replace the broken one in the other Nexus.
I suspect that if either of these were doable, I would still need the help of a professional, but regardless, could they be done?
Located in the US, anyone have a recommended battery to buy and a display? The 5 I have has a patch of pixels that are messed up and figured to replace the battery while I'm at it.
I've installed this rom once and was really happy with it no other rom has worked this well for me.
After breaking something and needing to reinstall it the first boot wouldn't boot up, and I know the long wait on first bootups but this time I left it for about 2-4 hours on charge with the boot screen but it would still not go further.
I have tried everything (ex. not wiping dalvik, not installing gapps etc.)and everything would result in the same log infinite booting screen after letting it set for several hours.
I have tried other roms that installed fine but none worked so well Like Orion, so help would be apreciated!
Does someone have a flashable rom of android KeyLimePie?
While setting up my Nexus 5, it would sit there on the "Checking connection" screen for literally hours. How can I fix this?
