Links and discussion about music, bands, news and all things Mathcore (music genre)
A hard to define musical sub-genre of metal/rock/hardcore punk.
Takes influence from hardcore punk/metalcore and shares elements with progressive metal. Its name is derived from 'Math Rock' and shares some characteristics with that genre as well.
Unusual time signatures, technically complex instrumentation, punctuated staccato playing, dissonant chords/progressions, and screamed (rather than growled) vocals are typical of bands in the genre. (ie Dillinger Escape Plan, Converge, The Number Twelve.)
The term has been also used as a blanket term for bands that are more technical, experimental, and/or advant garde than their hardcore, metal, and punk peers.

Southeast DIY mathcore legends Dying Whale just shared footage from their final show, last month in Panama City. First saw the band play a church show my college friend booked in early 2011, and it's been a wild ride watching how the band and music shaped over the years.
Such a solid set of dudes with an incredible catalog of music!
As the subject line says, I’m looking for a show poster from the Boston show from Botch’s tour from last year. Wanted to get it as a Christmas gift for friend as it was the first concert we went to together.
Very rare gem
This is killing me, I’m hoping you guys can help me out.
I’m trying to remember a band, more hardcore than math—closer to Breach than DEP—who released a track with “sock” in the title (“tube sock”, even?)
Part of the ‘silly nonsense song names’ wave of bands. The album cover might have been yellow?
I’m tryna find more mathcore (i know a decent amount but want even more) and i figured it’d be fun to hear what you guys like, so feel free to send a few albums in the comments and i’ll give them a listen and rank them
My band is breaking up, but we just released these 2 singles before we head out!
We had a sick ass team behind us on this release: Christian Degn on album art, Sam Hammond recording/mix, and Will Putney on the master. Hella proud of these songs. Search suplexca on IG for our linktree to check out more shit, last show is at Taqueria Mila in Santa Rosa CA supported by a bunch of sick screamos bands.
FFO: Better Lovers, Converge, Riffin'
We have our first ep (like, ever, not just with this group) coming out on december 5th! It was totally not a fun process and I never want to do it again. Anywho, we are super pumped and hope this music brings joy to everyone who stumbles across it!
The band’s name is ndamukong
