Links and discussion about music, bands, news and all things Mathcore (music genre)
A hard to define musical sub-genre of metal/rock/hardcore punk.
Takes influence from hardcore punk/metalcore and shares elements with progressive metal. Its name is derived from 'Math Rock' and shares some characteristics with that genre as well.
Unusual time signatures, technically complex instrumentation, punctuated staccato playing, dissonant chords/progressions, and screamed (rather than growled) vocals are typical of bands in the genre. (ie Dillinger Escape Plan, Converge, The Number Twelve.)
The term has been also used as a blanket term for bands that are more technical, experimental, and/or advant garde than their hardcore, metal, and punk peers.

My buddy Joel(former vocalist of ABRB) and I have a mathy-sorta grindy studio project called SundaySchoolMascot. We email each other our contributions and boom, we have an album. The problem is, we need a bassist. I've done it in the past, but I'm already playing all the other instruments. Kinda wanna collab with more people on this project. If anyone is a bassist with the means to record at their leisure, send me a message.
If anyone is curious, the best way I can describe the music so far would be If Premonitions Of War meets Dillinger Escape Plan.
Cheers!
You can look up our previous work on all streaming, but these 2 albums don't resemble what we sound like now.
I think my scream technique fits better with their later stuff with Greg, but i really love this song (as a whole Calculating Infinity too), so i try to covered it..
Im searching for songs similar to "Jesus and Tori" from The Number Twelve Looks Like You, other stuff from them doesnt feel as good as this song. Btw is thie song totally mathcore or is it partially other genre?

Hey there,
This is for anyone who is specifically looking for chaotic hardcore recs, please head on over and check out r/chaotichardcore
I started up this subreddit a short while back. I have a few recs for folks to sift through. There is also some slight overlap with dissonant hardcore, metallic hardcore and a little mathcore. You'll see this is on the more 'core' related spectrum and less of the 'tech' based stuff.
For anyone wanting to post or share music, podcasts, show updates, vids etc. Feel free to do so. Just check and use the 'relevant' post flairs before doing so and also see how they've been posted. I'm trying to include FFO (For Fans Of) on certain posts.
You can edit your posts in a somewhat similar fashion. I just think it looks neat when things follow some sort of format and things are easier to find using the appropriate flairs. You can find them all listed to the right of the subreddit.
Cool. Engage, spread the word to anyone who would be interested. :)
My band Jackal Twins got lucky and got on his twitch stream yesterday and it was all smiles.
Follow on Instagram, etc. for a lot more soon! LP OUT 3/7/25
