How to Get the Most out of Your Post
Include a photo of the problem. You can upload to imgur.com for free and it's easy to do. One photo should contain enough information for people to understand the immediate area around the problem (dense shade, extremely sloped, etc.). Other photos should include close-ups of the grass or weed in question: such as this, this, or this. The more photos or context to the situation will help us identify the problem and propose some solutions.

Hi all,
Looking towards the spring, I have a few questions regarding pre-emergent. I over seeded this past fall with pretty good success but still have a couple bare areas. I also plan to sod a part of my yard that was ripped up by construction. My yard has a weed problem and I'm trying to make sure I'm ahead of the game. I've read that you can apply tenacity at the same time you can apply seed (correct me if I'm wrong) but what about laying new sod? Also is there something better to apply when attempting to kill weeds but also grow grass? Thanks!
My old husqvarna 4 cycle trimmer recently stopped working, and I was hoping you guys would give me some recommendations on 4 cycle trimmers. This will be for commercial use -thanks
I highly recommend diamond edge line for line trimmers. I purchased a couple of coils after being recommended them here in New Zealand. I'm guessing these will be available in Australia too I was surprised how long they last. Oh and I soaked them overnight in water as that was recommended also
I have about 70 psi at my spigot I’m wanting to increase the distance future. What are my options if there is one ?
This area a few years back used to have grass all the way to the side walk and now it’s just dirt… and it’s annoying! How can I get my grass back?(People do park their cars here now so that is a big reason)
Hi all, longtime lurker here that consulted the search bar this fall for a remedied grub problem. Thanks for the help!
Anyway my family and I are building in northeast Ohio and recently got a quote for seeding after some landscape/hardscape work. I want to purchase an automower to do as much of the yard work as humanly possible. (Looking at the husqvarna 430xh.)
I wanted to consult you guys because I feel like his price was honestly a bit low probably due to using a low quality seed mix.
I planned on asking him to use a mix of TTTF and KBG for a spring application after ground is broken and concrete is done. Is this a good turf plan and would siteone be the best place to pick something like that up?
Are there any specific things i should ask for regarding the automower and making things as hands off as possible? I plan to push the toro around a few times a year, mostly during fall for leaf mulching.
What should I ask for to ensure a lush and healthy lawn asap as it relates to a new build in northeast Ohio. ANYTHING else you folks would recommend. Thanks in advance!
Sorry if this is not the right place, but I've done everything including traps.
In Washington State. Need advice on how to fix my lawn. I did a soil test and it came back saying my PH level was above 9.
Sorry if this gets answered a lot but does mowing under 45 degrees hurt the grass at all. I live in Virginia and right now the temps can swing greatly so the grass is still kinda growing. I also want to mulch up the leaves. Is there any risk to my overseed by cutting in the cold?
(6b or 7a? Southwest CT). Not satisfied with my small lawn renovation I did in October. I had dethached and seeded and there are maybe 10 patches in a 1,200 sq ft area that I didn't level out very well and didn't take the seed. I think I should have used more and better quality soil, I also might have under seeded in those spots. I'd like to tackle this in the spring so I can enjoy my yard all year, I cannot wait until fall 2025. When spring rolls around should I skip using pre-emergent in the entire 1,200 sq ft area and focus on growing? or can I carefully apply pre-emergent in most areas being careful to avoid my spots that need tending?
New home owner here. We had a brief snow, and I didn’t have time to clean it off the driveway until it turned into a layer of ice. Not wanting to keep that around, I salted it. After it melted I pushed all the softer broken ice onto the lawn, where I’ll have to push the snow all winter. Just occurred to me that salt probably is bad for the lawn. It’s the beginning of the winter, and there will be lots of snow to potentially wash out or dilute that salt before spring. Do you think that one time salting will screw up the grass next year?
Geelong, Victoria has been acting like Queensland for the first time in my 22 years on this planet - a few weeks of hot, rainy (20+ mls on multiple days) and humid temps.
I’m kikuyu is having some issues (I think), and it looks mouldy / fungus-ey? I have never had this weather before so never had any sort of fungal issues, have no idea how to diagnose or treat, any tips?
Gonna be more rain and high temps for the next few days, then for the week after should be steady hot temps (25+) without rain, will it self resolve?
Hi all,
I've been using an electric Ozito mower for a while now and it seriously struggles to move forward but works without issue when going backwards. The blades and case aren't hitting the ground and this happens in some areas even when set to 7". The blades sound like they're spinning at full speed, but the grass clearly starts to collect inside the cutting area and eventually it has to be manually emptied
Am I doing something wrong? What height should I cut at and if the grass is super long to start with, should I go over using different heights or can I go over a few times at the same lower height?
Thank you
When I mow grass I put in AirPods and cover them with Earmuffs, but the earmuffs I have are cheap and do not do a good job at blocking out noise. What are the best earmuffs to block out noise that are large enough to fit AirPods?
I was about 6 weeks later getting the seed down than i wanted after the full renovation (San Jose, zone9). Some things just take longer than planned.
The grass (blend of KB and TF) germinated fine and seems to be coming in, but has slowed down a bunch. The front yard got started 10 days earlier, and is more than 10 days ahead in apparent growth. I guess this is not surprising due to the cooler ground temps now, but i am getting a bit worried about the winter months. It lightly frosts every morning, but the air temp stays above freezing (34F to 40F). The ground varies a lot in the first two inches from 7am to 4pm. I give it dash of water at 7am to remove the frost, but unless it is going to be quite sunny for several day, no other water seems to be needed in the top inch and below (rainy season).
Should I be worried? Is there more i should be doing? Should i spray something to get rid of the happy weeds now?
The bag says to apply on 50+ degree weather, where I live at it’s been at 46-52 but at night it drops to the 30 degrees. Will it be pointless still applying some or can it ruin my grass if I apply it?
