Welcome to r/Tacoma, The Subreddit of Destiny. Much like the city, this forum is a dusty old jewel of Puget Sound.
Some spend all day talking about how gritty it is, others simply think this is where trucks were invented, but Tacoma is a beautiful city filled with art, food, beer, music, nature and people. This subreddit is intended to be a reflection of such.
Welcome! You'll Like Tacoma.
Please make sure your post follows the subreddit rules.

Hello, I have two paid tickets I am willing to give to someone who is a comic/scifi/fantasy fan. Schedules got a little screwy and while I can't go, I'd love for someone else to go. Please IM me with your favorite comic book run or favorite fantasy book series and why with your email. I swear I will enail the tickets to the first person who replies with a valid response.
I think my kid might be ready for an adult-sized bike helmet but I'm not sure. Is there someone I can take him to get help with fitting?
Hey all!
I took a look through the subreddit and didn't see any recent threads, apologies if I missed something. Hoping to get an idea of cost people have gotten for EV charger install and who you've used/recommend.
I'm thinking my most cost effective option is going to be having a 240v outlet installed for plug in charging. I'd love to know what costs looked like for either just outlet install or hardwire charger install.
Thanks in advance!
Currently have an 8x8 shed in our backyard and looking to upgrade to a 10x16. We’ve shopped around a bit at both Lowe’s and Home Depot for those shed companies they have displayed in their parking lots but weren’t too impressed. Anyone have a good experience with any local (within 1hr of Tacoma) shed companies they would suggest?
My curling team is playing in a national qualifier (yes, it’s that serious). Looking for an artist that can make the most unreadable metal band logo for our team.
We’re called the “Button Nibblers”
Above is an example. I would love to hire someone locally. Obviously will pay.
New to the area and on weekends I like to grab breakfast and coffee and find a spot with a nice view to enjoy my morning. In Seattle I often went to Carkeek Beach overlooking the Sound. Any good spots in Tacoma I can do this?
My workplace has recently discussed reducing the amount of meetings we have due to the plethora of research suggesting meetings actually curb productivity, stifle creativity, and limit time spent actually accomplishing work.
I feel like amendment 2 increasing the number of annual meetings from 46 to a MINIMUM of 70 is ludicrous. More meetings definitely don't mean better in my mind. I welcome feedback to better inform my vote. Thanks!
Hello, community. My grandmother just passed. We are in the process of cleaning out her place. There is a large amount of adult diapers that we want to donate to a local group. Any suggestions of good local organizations we can donate these to?
I am looking at open enrollment through SEBB as a state employee. I currently have DeltaCare (NOT delta dental) as my plan. I don’t like it, or the dentists I can pick from as my only provider I can use since it’s a managed care plan.
I am considering switching to Willammete, which I know is also a managed care plan, but seems like you can go to any of their dentists instead of only being able to see one like with DeltaCare? Thoughts and experiences on Wilammete managed care plan?!

Anyone know where I can find a good Neapolitan Pizza in Tacoma? When I was living in Seattle I had my favorite restaurant that did a very good approximation but here can’t find one.
I know of Apizza restaurant downtown, but I tried and wasn’t that good for me.
I just a place that does a good margarita, but if they do prosciutto e rucola would be amazing.
DM me the details about the model and I’ll give you your phone back
Edit: it was the Scott Pierson trail
I have very, very recently and painfully learned I am not good at this. I know from previous experience I can take them to a groomer but if I can avoid driving then around I'd prefer not to.
Lemme know if you see this goodboi! Please do not chase, but he may respond to squeaky toy noises or treats.
To preempt, yes, I’ve been in touch with the Humane Society. For as much as I’ve bothered them I think they will call me for any cattle dog that comes in over the next year 😅
Looking for tips! So far it’s been a game of whack-a-mole chasing Facebook tips, even with several dedicated searchers.
I live in one of the new apartments that have gone up in the city recently. Overall, it’s really nice. Great events, safe, modern. But the noise is unbearable. It’s built like a hotel and every single fire door slams so much that it wakes me up. My neighbors just refuse to close their doors quietly or don’t care. There seems to be no insulation between me and my upstairs neighbor. I’m wondering if that’s been your experience too, or if I just need to move to a different, better building?
Friendly local shroomed and curious about the aerospace shenanigans
Genuinely just wondering if anybody knows what’s flying about up there. A bit ago there was a loud plane that (I think) vanished. Or something. I wasn’t actively paying any attention at all (busy fighting with a duvet and the cover, it was 2v1, very unfair. I was victorious though) but I do think the sound of the superfast jet thing stopped suddenly.
I’m eating ice cream on my vanquished foe and this is plaguing me.
I’m in south Tacoma, if that helps. Not sure why it would, I think people in Portland could probably hear that thing.
Just wondering about specs/type of plane. Also why it’s flying around up there-being flown around? I dislike the idea that the plane itself may be sentient, even just by implication.
Testing? Do they have test flights for high power jets like we do for our cars after we kinda-fixed-it-maybe-fucked-it-up-more in an O’Reillys parking lot? Hope not, sounds stressful. Are the pilots on Reddit? I have questions. Like, specifically for them.
Also in general. So many questions.
Help and thank you.
Evening y’all!
10/27 my truck got broken into in the N 40th/Orchard area and a bunch of prehospital medicine training supplies were stolen. Shouldn’t have gotten left in there, definitely a bad call.
I doubt there’s any value to the average individual but please reach out if anyone runs across:
Laerdal Airway Training Manikin (looks like a fancy CPR manikin) McGrath laryngoscope Shoulder bag full of 3D printed tracheas
Been a long time since I ran with folks who made bad decisions like this, also open to any thoughts of where they could be pawned/sold?
Anybody planning on going? I’d love to make friends before going. I’m a bit neurospicy and not the type to just walk up to people and say hey (hello rejection sensitive dysphoria!) Anyways. Would love to find emo night friends, and maybe even eventually see some shows. It’s on Nov 9th if anyone’s going 🫶
It's that time of year down at the Food Connection yet again. Hurkey the Turkey is getting a head start this year, he knows how expensive everything is getting and wants to be prepared. His cupboards are bare and he has a flock to feed, so we need your help.
We are currently serving on average over 300 families daily, five days a week, and it's beginning to take a toll on our reserves. This time of year especially people rely on our services, and we are stretched incredibly thin right now. Even the smallest donation would help, be it food or time as a volunteer. As I've said before, we're all in this together.
Don't make Hurkey be a sad turkey all season, no one likes fowl in a foul mood.
If you have any interest in helping us keep our community fed please contact me at carolinec@foodconnection.org or shoot me a message here. In all seriousness, this community has always shown up for us over the years and we really do appreciate the support.
Anyone know what happened and or have an estimate for the power returning?
Hi ya’ll!
It’s my partners birthday this weekend and his request was to go hit up a burger joint.
Who has the best burgers in Tacoma?
update
Thank you everyone for commenting! This was very helpful for the occasion and for future burger adventures. We ended up going to Radnor’s and it was fantastic.
I went with my spouse to the fright night st the station tonight. Getting rained on sucked (wear a coat, bring an umbrella) but they were so good. I can check getting yelled at by clowns to tie my shoes off my life experiences now. But no really, it was set up almost like something out of the back rooms. If you like that scary shit, then do this event. It was big scary science doctor sends you into patient's dreams kind of energy. 10/10 good Halloween fun. Gonwith a group of 4-6 to ensure you're not paired with so.eone who tries to be abnoxious and ruin it for others though.
Luckily, no injuries to report.
Been a slow night, just a group of giggling teenagers. I’m sure glad I got candy that I like.
