Curious what people’s top 5 features are for both K Dot and J Cole?
Kdot:
J Cole
These are not in any particular order.
Personally mine is LOYALTY.
I guess it’s over for metro and future next week
I think it’s been pretty damn evident and everybody already has acknowledged that with every album release Kendrick has a character to role it all out with.
GKMC - Kendrick Lamar (Young Black Man Trying to Make Something of Himself While Identifying that Stereotypes Make Him Exactly Who He Is)
TPAB - King Kunta (Social Justice, Loving thyself, and Analyzer of the Culture and His own lack of Wisdom).
DAMN - Kung Fu Kenny (Hottest Rapper Alive/ Lights, Camera, Action, Hollywood/ Struggle Life in America and its Religious Hypocrisy that Comes With It)
MMTBS - Mr. Morale (Self-Reflection of Life, Introspective, Rebuking the Ill’s of Generational Trauma)
Now with the style Kendrick has been donning on and off since 2022 and the way he has brought out the a preview to the country accent especially during Family Ties it’s safe to say the next alter ego will be Kowboy Ken (Compton Cowboy)
Not only that but it’s very possible it’ll be his most aggressive, confrontational, and controversial ego yet.
Between Family Ties and Like That I think Kendrick is gearing up to official go out to round up and hogtie the game all for himself, a true Outlaw (just like Tupac would’ve loved to see it), Rap Jesse James.
I have recently found myself listening to paradise after finishing MMTBS (the lines we hear on united in grief and count me out), makes the end feel much more gratifying if that makes sense.
I'm not a hard kendrick fan so idk But I know this hella fucked up

Is he in the running with Kendrick?
Total Grammy's
Kendrick - 17
Drake - 5
J. Cole - 2
I didn't even want to include Cole because this isn't even about the diss or beef
And don't bring up Nas only getting his first one in 2021 because Illmatic was released in a climate where it was still being debated whether Hip hop is art or trash
if you'd have to diss kendrick how would you do it?
I always wondered about this with TPAB and years down the line. It is one of the most dense and hard albums to listen subject matter wise. I personally loved it and still go back to it sometimes, especially ‘U’ which was hard hitting for me at the time…
But with the whole J Cole comment about TBAP, do you think the album is as well received in the hiphop community as a whole? How many other rappers came out and applauded it? Critically acclaimed yes and loved by his fans, but I always did wonder how it affected its replayability for the average listener. Alot of people felt it benefit from the social justice wave at the height of its time as well.
Even DAMN and its lead single ‘HUMBLE’ you can tell the different approach and “easier” listen they aimed for with the album.
But why is Ab-Soul on a Cole song right now, and one where he took shots at Kendrick? I thought they were cool. Did they fall off or something?
Just posted my reaction to good kid, m.A.A.d city. Spent the whole week working on this, would really appreciate some feedback and also some context to some aspects of the album!
I love how he provided another drum pattern to that smooth-going beat.
There's something about "My life is like twelve open mics.." all the way to "And fly before my vocals SCREAM!!!" that's weirdly head bopping.. and it's not suppose to happen cause again.. that beat is snoozy smooth ASF. This is one of those moments I'm listenin to a rapper and be like "how the fuck did he find this flow.. especially IN THIS TYPE OF BEAT???”
Plus he pulled a unique iamb tetrameter all the way from "Boldest lines of rhymes and things" to "And fly before my vocals scream!”
Not to mention that complex and dizzyingly hypnotic rhyme scheme.
This is in my opinion Kendrick's top 5 verse.. and a top verse in hip-hop. It has everything from lyricism to musicality.. just perfect.
I was just obsessively rapping along to the shii this morning.. shit's just too good
