Cole chose to insult Kendrick rather than compete

Creeper here, found this subreddit after I listened to “We still don’t trust you” and wondering how the Cole fan base felt about his feature.

But - I’m posting after reading people’s thoughts on his apology. I find there’s an argument that Cole doesn’t want the negativity or drama - and it felt disingenuous to him.

I respect that view.

My response is thus, Kendrick simply issued a challenge to Cole. “I don’t think anyone else is near me, I’m number one, 2 and 3””

Cole could have responded however he liked

He chose to respond by insulting Kendrick’s discography and saying he fell off.

He said a bunch of shit he didn’t mean.

There are many ways to win a war. Why not take his beat, lay your own verses over it like Wayne back in the day? YouTube.

No one told you to insult the man. If you number 1 just demonstrate your skill.

My point being, J.Cole feels scared to truly compete. He said shit he didn’t mean and apologized, good on him.

But he had a set-up for a career defining moment, and could have set whatever narrative he wanted and he fumbled that.

Cole chose to insult Kendrick rather than compete

Hi guys: Rant ik, but I don’t get to talk to anyone else passionate enough about this. I like Cole, I’ll listen to his next album, I hope he’s happy. Credit to him to saying sorry. But no more number 1 talk

Also, If you’re not about competing, at least don’t get used as a pawn should have removed the feature.

Here's how I still have 7MD

I have a Motorola g power 2022 and when I heard the rumors about him taking it off I went to YT mp3 CC and downloaded it from YouTube on Google Chrome and when you do that on my phone it goes straight to youtube music library device files. So I have Mac Miller Pure + JCole 7 minute drill. I can play them whenever I want. They're mine now lol

To finally prove J Cole right

I saw many people that were surprised that people agreed with J. Cole saying TPAB put people to sleep. I for one, hate that album.

I have been vindicated by how every song from 4YEO is certified whereas only 4 from TPAB are certified . This is despite the fact that the online consensus is that 4YEO is the boring one out of the two so the general public have voted with their ears. I know the beef is dead, I just wanted to say my final comment.

We need some fucking context with this whole shit

TL;DR Cole has been with the beef and smoke in the past and apologized because he felt like this beef connected to Kendrick, Drake, and everyone else involved could turn into some shit that ain't just on some rap shit and wanted no parts of it for his own sanity

https://preview.redd.it/584em5msc4uc1.jpg?width=875&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1376c785550b486dfbd9d1b709bfb7daa5ee9ed2

I don't see anyone talking about the whole context of J Cole's Apology, and I feel like it's really steering this shitty narrative. People assume J Cole apologized because he's ducking the smoke from Kendrick. That doesn't make sense to me though. When the Control verse dropped, Cole responded on wax (Justin Timberlake-TKO Remix). When Lil Pump shot his shots, J Cole responded on wax (1985). When Noname shot her shots, he responded (Snow on tha bluff). I know these people are not as lyrically talented as Kendrick, Cole has responded on wax and has never ducked the smoke. He's even thrown shots before. He threw shots at the lil rappers on Everybody dies. He threw shots at Kanye and Wale on False Prophets. For the past few years, everyone has agreed he's been on a fucking run and has gone at niggas (like Benny saying he was probably going at Drake and/or Kendrick on Johnny P's Caddy). So he has initiated shots and beef before, unprovoked. Even on some real shit, when Diddy approached Kendrick about the King of New York bar, he was the one that scrapped with him. Not Kendrick. We've heard the stories of Diddy punching Drake. He was the one that stood ten toes. So it doesn't make sense that the same dude that has responded to shots on wax before, has thrown shots unprovoked, has been on a hell of a run with not a wack verse, and has been willing to throw hands when needed would be the same dude to duck smoke on some rap shit.

It seems like J Cole wanted all of this to stay purely rap and it seems like this could go somewhere left real quick. We haven't heard Cole in the media for nothing crazy. Nothing involving women or doing niggas dirty. Even the few situations, he seems like he's handled things maturely. After he responded to the Control verse, he called Kendrick up and they talked it through like men. When Pump threw shots, he responded and then sat down and talked with him like a real big homie. When Noname came at him, he responded and didn't call her out her name, responded respectfully, and acknowledge her pov and commended her. Even with the YB situation, he waited for him and didn't disrespect him when he didn't show up. Even his response was still respectful. I haven't even really heard any one say anything bad about Cole's personality; I've only heard positive shit. It sounds like he's a real genuine, solid dude. But we've seen all of these people have issues with Drake over women, egos, and other bullshit. We haven't heard a lot about Kendrick and his character, but it's clear that he has real issues with Drake. From the rumors from people like Joe Budden, Drake and Kendrick have recorded diss tracks and it sounds like they may go beyond just straight rap. This all sounds like shit that Cole doesn't want no parts of.

To me, J cole didn't apologize out of fear of Kendrick and the beef. Especially not when he's already proven he will respond to smoke in the past. Especially not when he's already proven he'll shoot at niggas. Especially not when he's already proven he stand ten toes and throw hands when necessary. To me, J Cole apologized because he could see that this shit probably ain't go stay purely rap and could spill into some real shit that Cole doesn't want to perpetuate. Especially when he's remained a real genuine person throughout his entire career. Especially when these dudes have already brought in some much drama and bullshit into the game. Especially when these niggas have already recorded some crazy shit. This narrative of Cole apologizing because he ain't a real rapper has got to stop. Let's keep this shit in perspective. He apologize because all of these niggas are ready to take this shit somewhere away from rap that Cole ain't trying to go and say and do shit they don't mean and that could lead to outcomes we don't want to see. Oh yeah, and TPAB is a fucking masterpiece btw!

Why Does J Cole have to Diss

Seriously I’m getting pissed. Been a fan of this man before FHD. 3 Stacks never came at no one and he still got his stripes.

So what, he made a diss toward Kendrick then took it back. Who knows who woulda won that beef, Cole isn’t scared of Kendrick, and I would argue vice versa. Neither of them want to go after the other, even considering how competitive hip hop is. I see this whole situation differently.

Cole replying was a mistake, arguably Kendrick’s verse was too. This was intended (clearly based on recent developments) to be a moment to take Drake out of the Big 3 conversation. Every major rapper from the last decade is coming after Drake.

Drakes been disrespecting rappers left and right subliminally, like a “scared lil bitch, tiptoeing around ppls names” and people have had enough of it, it’s time to be ego checked. And for all of you Drake fans who stan J Cole, after the latest Pluto Metro release he’ll be subbing Cole too, if not releasing some below the belt Cudi type diss.

Pick a side. A week ago y’all picked the wrong 1.

Y'all agree the problem isn't the apology? The problem was dropping 7 min drill in the first place.

7 min drill was not Cole. You could hear it on the track, too. He didn't bring the same energy as the rest of the album cuz he knew he doesn't really believe Kendricks discography sucks.

I understand the apology, I didn't understand 7 min drill.

And I don't think Cole did either which is why he said he felt lame putting that out.

In true Cole fashion he should've just stuck with "This is why I'm the best" as a response instead of "This is why you suck"

Now we all holding Ls :(

Some things are bigger than Rap

Bas, Ib, and the whole Hamad family, has been dealing with a-lot as it pertains to the matriarch of their family. Please keep them in your prayers! Sometimes we focus too much on what would entertain us, and forget what’s important.

Sickening thought did he premeditate the Whole thing?

Some of you must have thought this already, and some will be vex I brought this up. But he named the tape "might delete later" then days later decided it wasn't right and said he will delete the disstrack. So what while planning too drop it , did he know all along he would retract it? Or the change of heart was a complete coincidence? HMMMM.

Who thinks Falloff is a retirement album? Cause that will smell even more fishy.

But Love too Jermaine

What’s Cole’s relationship with his brother?

He seems to be pretty unknown. I found his instagram and he isn’t following j Cole’s account or vise versa, so are they not as tight? Also here is an awkward photo of the family

Is this maybe the rollout for the Fall Ofd?

I keep thinking (actually more hoping). That this is all part of big roll out to the Fall Off. Like some more people are theorizing about. Think about out… Literally all the eyes of HipHop are on J.Cole falling off right now. Only for Cole turning this big disappointment into the classic album we have been waiting for so long now.

How pressure will affect J.cole ongoing catalog.

I really enjoyed might delete later I've listened to it multiples times now, at home at work and for me it's not a mid EP, if the last song diss wasn't included I think reactioners won't grade it mid.

When the apology came out it gave me a hard time to listen to the album, but I couldn't help it and listened to the album and I can say, that EP is incredible, my personal fave is the Trae the thruth in Ibiza and stickz n stonez.

I think this will affect J.cole's upcoming catalogue, the pressure he might redeem himself with bars and lyrics, this will give hime another ideas on how, what

I don't know men, I'm conflicted and drunk right now, I might be coping, I just idolize the man so much, he touches my soul, DAMN.
