If you don't know any Japanese there might be occasional posts of interest here, but they can be hard to find. You will likely find more content of interest at /r/JapaneseGameShows.
/r/JTV assumes that subscribers can read and understand Japanese, so subtitled content is rare.
If you like Japanese TV and know enough Japanese to follow along, you are likely to find content of interest here.
/r/JTV is not a place to introduce Japanese TV to people who don't understand Japanese.
※ Content can be for example variety shows, comedy shows, manzai, rakugo, news, information shows, documentaries, interviews, talk shows, music shows, quiz shows, game shows, promotion for a drama/movie, sporting events, reality shows, etc..
◯ Japanese should be the only language required to understand the content.
◯ Content should be produced with the intention of airing on Japanese TV.
◯ Web content produced for a Japanese audience (by more or less professional producers) is also allowed as long as it's interesting and similar enough to TV content.
◯ Look at what other people are sharing, use your judgement, and ask if you are unsure.
◯ Subtitled content is allowed, but a raw source is preferred when possible, especially if the subtitled content is translating and covering original onscreen Japanese text.
× Avoid any dubbed or subbed content that was not originally produced for a Japanese audience.
× Avoid any non-Japanese content that was not originally produced for a Japanese audience.
× Avoid movies, drama shows, anime, concerts and music videos. These are not in scope for /r/JTV, and most of them have their own subreddits.

Hi,
We've been using IKORTV app on Firestick 4K MAX for awhile, but I am looking to get Japanese TV and Dramas/movies now also, so I was asking about it one the streamingasia support and they mentioned they have JapanTV service now, which sounds very much like IKORTV, but I have some questions:
Is the only difference among the product versions, the number of channels?
Also, what kinds of dramas and movies do they have on JapanTV?
I noticed that there are 2 different APKs on their site. One is for 64bit and the other is not. Which one should I use for a Firestick 4K MAX?
Thanks!!
Jim
2K Original Stream 1440x1080 30i MPEG2-TS
BS4K Original Stream 3840x2160 60p HEVC HDR
2K Server [8-Channel 地上波, 8-Channel 衛星(BS,CS)]
Hello, I'm back again.
I'm still renting Japanese TV Original Stream Server that I built in Tokyo 23-Ku, and this server extract and deliver 100% Original Stream in real-time
There is no any quality damage or delay, so it is theoretically the same as you watching TV in Japan.
And there is also an automatic recording reservation function.
Unlike other services, This serevr doesn't use the P2P function, so Users don't need a dedicated webpage and application, and users don't know the other user's IP.
Because there is a subtitle track, Users can translate subtitles in real time according to the client's settings.
With no P2P features, my server has a limited number of users, and it may be more expensive than other services, but considering that TV recordings sell for at least $1 per 60 minutes and real-time TS streams for at least $2 in TAOBAO, my server is x10 to x100 cheaper than those.
If you are interested in my server, please read my blog carefully and contact me on Telegram. (@kaito_6975)

Thank you.
I'm a sucker for digital preservation, and I love music. I'm trying to track down old broadcasts from M-ON!/viewsic, specifically broadcasts of their music chart countdowns (Top 20, Top 100, etc) and having pretty much 0 luck in doing so. I'm especially looking for the December 1999 Top 100 Countdown, but pretty much any M-ON! broadcasts from back then would be awesome. If anyone knows a good source to look for these older broadcasts, I'd love to hear your suggestions! I've looked around on just about every major site I could think of, including the Internet Archive.
Good day! Does anyone use this provider? Do they work?
I have tried as much as I could to find archives of NHK’s fantastic early morning programming for kids to no avail.
I’m particularly interested in the currently running segments “0655” and “The Wakey Show”, anybody knows where I could get this stuff? Seems like no one cares to archive it, and the NHK app wouldn’t work for me at all.
Can anyone recommend good Japanese TV shows, especially comedy or funny stuff....Thank you.
Recently, I discovered a Japanese IPTV service called MomoTV, which is available in Mini, Basic, and Plus. I found that it's sold on HDMall Asian IPTV Online Store. To those who have used MomoTV, is HDMall this a safe place to buy a 3-day trial? Does it really have a webplayer where you can watch it on a web browser? Is there a channel list for Mini, Basic, and Plus available? The reason for my questions is because MomoTV is a bit under-documented compared to other Japanese IPTV services, such as Nozomi and YoiTV.
I’m in the US and I am trying to subscribe to FOD to watch full episodes of a drama on Fuji TV. However, FOD only accepts credit cards with a billing address in Japan.
How can I watch full episodes of an entire drama on Japanese TV? TVer removes episodes after 1 week or so after airing. I believe that FOD retains past episodes but won’t accept credit cards from outside of Japan. Are there any other options?
We are living currently in Mexico and we used MujiTV to consume Japanese Television using our laptop, unfortunately the site has no way to pay for the subscription, we get a message saying that it’s no longer working, do you have an alternative website where we can watch Live TV?
So I recently had a kid who I’m hoping to teach Japanese to. Her mother doesn’t speak Japanese though, so I’m the only one in the immediate household who speaks it to her. I’m hoping to supplement this to some degree with kids shows, especially since it’s hard for me to model interaction with her by myself. The problem is that because of time difference, live stream channels rarely match up to a time that I’d be able to watch with her.
In particular I’m looking for shows like おかあんといっしょ and いないいないばあっ! Does anybody have any resources for where I could stream or download these shows and others like them?
Hi all, I've installed jstarkan on my Google pixel tablet, however there is no option to fast forward or rewind? I've tried it on my phone, and it gives the option when I tap the screen.
Can I force the pixel to treat the app like a phone install rather than a tablet? Is that what's stopping it?
Thanks
I wanna start watching japanese gameshows, been meaning to do it for a while now but have no idea where to find this content, so that's why i'm here. So where do you watch these show (hopefully free?)?
Also recommend me your favorites?
If you're trying to renew JapanTV, instead of using your paypal to get an auth code you now need to go to a separate website and buy an ebook using your credit card for the value of the subscription that you want.
I'm too scared to do it. If JapanTV really is too far gone, are there any alternatives? I've seen HimawariTV mentioned here but it looks like they have the same registration process.
Aired on Nittere on July 26 of this year but is not available on Hulu. Any sources?
Playing 4K 4-Channels at same time
Hello, I finally completed to built a server that extract the original MMT/TLV stream of BS4K 4-channel at the same time. (It's World's First!)
It extracts and decrypt the original 4K stream (MMT/TLV), then converts it into a readable format in real time without loss of quality.
I don't think everyone can watch it smoothly because the 4K stream is so big (33Mbps). But there's also a 4K Reservation Server, so it's not a problem to record.
Currently, I'm beta testing for Plan 2 users until the server is verified.
The 2K 16-channel original stream server is still working fine.
If you are interested in my server, please refer to my blog.
Does anyone know of an app that will run on an Android Device (NVidia Shield Pro) to provide live captions/subtitles of Japanese programs playing on said tv?
There are a TON of AI captioning services and apps out there, but they all seen to bel for uploaded videos, or youtubers working on youtube shorts and such. So far I've found nothing that says it's capable of overlaying subtitles onto your smart TV screen based on what is currently playing.
Hopefully the above makes sense, I know even google seems confused as to what I'm trying to track down.
I know the OpenAI's 'Whisper' app can do this using a PC it seems, but I'm not 100% sure even if can do that in real time which is what LiveTV would require.
apparently for "Asahi channel 10 something something variety show" (their words some 14 hours of plane later in response to me asking what channel via discord)
any idea what show it might be on and where I might be able to watch it?
does anyone know a good alternatives to these links? need a free one btw
Very cheap, 100 usd for 12 month . We are selling at extremely preferential prices. If you have many customers, please contact us through our Agent policy, see more at https://itvjp.com
Wife is really wanting to watch some shows on their but looks like it's geolocked, and some VPNS don't work. Any advice would be great!
I have a link but it's in SD and usually dies after 2 minutes. Looking for a more solid stream if possible! Program on tomorrow morning (Wednesday Night) in Japan I'd like to watch! Thank you!
I use Newskei to download videos, but since I'm still not that good at Japanese, I'd like to add dialogue transcripts/subtitle tracks to improve my understanding. Do you know if there’s an archive like newskei that stores them or something similar?? I know that many japanese shows offer the option to put them on when airing, so technically they exists in some way
Hi my family is japanese and my grandma only speaks japanese and after tv Japan shut down she hasn’t had japanese television and it seems to have gotten her down. I was wondering if there were any services I could get and put on the tv that she could use to watch japanese television. We are willing to pay, I’m just not entirely sure on how to do this kind of stuff. Live tv would be the easiest for her to navigate as she is used to that.
I used to watch this episode of a show - or maybe it was a movie as a kid, but I don't remember the name.
It was based in a school/university/hospital and had a woman who really liked ramen and was stabbed, I think by a guy named Honda. And then the student's kept seeing yurei in the hallways.
I think one of the cast members was from V6 or another JPop band. I really want to find the show, but so far I wasn't able to :(
