I am trying my very beat to restore this old ipod classic that i bought recently, as cheap as possible. 😬

How do you guys replace the film? Is it the top part or the one underneath? Or both?

I recently acquired this iPod Classic, but at the 7 GB mark the disk starts making a hard noise, and it won't upload any more music.

I was thinking of upgrading both the battery and memory, but someone said the 6th generation won't read above 128 GB, so, I wanted to know what kind of pieces would be best to acquire?

Any help is welcome. I'm a total beginner, so I am kind of lost.

As title states, I’ve replaced the logic board on my 160gb 7th gen classic. There were no problems with the old except a removed headphone jack/lock switch smd, so I know other components work fine.

Now that I’ve booted up the screen says no music and the scroll wheel is completely unresponsive. Any idea what I can try? First time repairing/modding, so feel free to ELI5. Any help is appreciated!

Do the transcend 420s or 430s SSDs work with rockbox? Have you tried it?

I know there are people out there that has/had the same issue that I’m facing rn. The iPod turns on and gets stuck on the Apple logo. I’ve tried force restarting it, plugged it into my MacBook when prompted, did all the recommended solutions I can think of and nothing is working.

So, I read that it could be due to hard drive issue. Now, I have a question. I own this iPod for maybe about 10 years give or take. If I were to bring it to Apple, will they be able to fix it since it’ve been discontinued? If so, will they be able to see some of the musics on it are downloaded off online and some from CDs I bought?

Btw, I hope this is the right place to ask. Not sure if there’s another place for this since it’s not exactly iOS related.

Is it possible that this item would work on connecting a Gen2 or Gen1 to modern PCs? Would like to own either one but refusing to buy a whole new system just to sync… just wondering.

I want to have my iPod connected directly to my amp / receiver but control it with my phone over Bluetooth.

In the past I have plugged its cable into the USB port in cars and suddenly I'm able to play, pause and choose what to play with the buttons on the car...

... So I wondered if there's some sort of dongle or port that I can connect to the iPod at home that allows me to control it with my iPhone in a similar way, only via Bluetooth?

Something like this:

iPhone as controller -> Bluetooth -> [device X] -> USB cable or plugged direct -> iPod -> audio cable -> AVR / amp

I have an iPod classic almost full of music, I have no problem to add or remove music from it using ITunes on my old iMac, but it’s not possible to put any photos. iTunes says that there is not enough space for photos, but the remaining space should be enough. Any idea please ?

i am trying to connect my 6th Gen iPod classic to my M1 IMac because I want to backup the music on it. In the finder the iPod appears twice, once the device and for a short time the disk. Because I want to enter the iPod_control folder I need the disc icon. This tough, does disappear after a few seconds. Does someone has experience with this issue?

Is there a way to synch an iPad 7th Edition to Apple Music without using a desktop computer?

I bought a second hand car that the previous owner installed an android tablet onto the dashboard.

I can connect my iPod classic via usb. The music player can play the songs and has the meta data but the names and playlists are all garbled because of apple's encryption.

I tried Media monkey but Google files won't let me allow access to the iPod. I was wondering if I get a Bluetooth adapter, will I be able to control it via the android tablet or will I have to use the controls on the iPod itself.

I have rockbox on it as I stated in my previous post but I load it up with my Greek music and it just appears as the obj box if yk what I'm saying and I would like to see if there is a solution to this problem of mine

I picked up a 4th Gen mono and a 5th gen from FM marketplace, $65 delivered. After charging on Firewire the 5th gen does boot and play but had a badly cracked screen.

The 4th gen is gorgeous, very clean. It also booted up but the clickwheel was unresponsive. I have a 3rd/4th gen remote so I plugged it in and that did control the menu. I opened it up and found the clickwheel cable was completely unplugged with its securing clip open. I plugged the cable back in and the clickwheel now functions perfectly. And there's zero reallocs on the hard drive too. Winner!

Now I need to figure out how to rescue the music from it, either with a Mac or a W10 machine.

With some AKG's and Rockbox it's like we're back in 2009 without a care in the world.

Plenty of shops out there, but I was wondering if you can recommend some EU located shops.

I am tired of waiting for stuff from China. Also dealing with customs can be a pain...

(iFlash.xyz of course for the adapters, but I am in need for batteries [4G and 5.5G], display [5.5G] and maybe some other stuff for the 6G as well...)

Also what else is there? I mean what other updates should I consider (either QoL or just a precaution since I "have it open right now")?

I've seen the integrated bluetooth, but that is beyond my skillset; there are new shells... But nothing other comes to my mind, that I should look for.

so i want to get an Ipod because in VA schools are banning phone and i cant go with out my music so i was trying to buy an Ipod but its lowkey hard to find and idk which one to get i think i want to either the 5 gen or the 7 gen ipod classic but idk any help would be appreciate

I recently bought a classic 7th gen from eBay, and am now on the hunt for some good earbuds.

I’d like to take advantage of the 7’s ability to use in line controls. I’d also appreciate (if at all possible) if the earbuds could have any type of noise cancellation, as I have a noisy newborn at home. Obviously I wouldn’t have them in when I’m in direct care of the baby, for anyone concerned.

Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated!
