I want to mod my iPod but I want to get the right parts for it can some help please thanks 🙏
I’ve started modding my 6th gen with the KCX BT emitter board following the Parts Plus Pods tutorial. The iPod powers on and loads Rockbox no problem, but I’m not seeing the Bluetooth module power on/enter pairing mode.
I’ve not used the hold button to create a switch, since I plan to power off the iPod when not in use, if that’s relevant.
The Bluetooth module is powered directly from the battery. AFAICT it seems to be wired well enough; my multimeter reads 4.05V both where I’ve soldered wires to the battery (not the actual terminals, but to some pads on the ribbon that looked about right) and at the module itself.
Is the module cooked or is there any other diagnostics to try?
Not only did I get the wrong click wheel but there appears to be glue residue all over it? Is that normal?
I picked up an iPod classic 5.5 second hand off Ebay and when i received it my laptop picked it up and allowed me to move music. But I decided to reset it, and it still recognizes the iPod but no longer gives me the option to move music. When I check the iPod in finder the only options I have are "Check for Update and Restore iPod..."
It's been a while since i picked it up and i decided to try and add rockbox but that doesn't work either and i get an error "could not open ipod: access denied".
any advice on fixing this would be appreciated.
My iPod classic with updated rockbox has a white screen. What can it be?
I have an old ipod 5th gen 30gb and the HDD is no longer working and the battery is bloated so I thrown them away.
I am leaning to get a iflash solo and have a 3000mah battery on it.
I wanted to know what are the things included when you buy an iflash? Does it include a zif ribbon or no?
Anything to add or connect to use for BlueTooth?
Hey folks!
I was using my old 2012 MacBook Pro to transfer files to my various iPods (I like modding and replacing the HDs with SD cards), but the HD crashed and took my library with it (my backup also crashed). Is there any way to download my library from my iPod to my new computer?
Thanks!
I have been using my old IPod for a bit and have been enjoying rating my songs as I listen. However, when I try to sync my iPod to Apple Music the ratings on Apple Music don't update. Am I missing a setting or is it not possible to sync ratings from the iPod to modern Apple Music. The Apple Music app fits my needs for managing my library so I don't really want to download iTunes, is there a fix
What are some of the other possible causes for power draining when off other than library size?
It won't last a couple of days while powered off before the battery is in the red from full.
For context it was previously fine, I swapped in a new main board from EOE and had the old board repaired for a 30 pin issue. That board is now in my wife's iPod and working fine. The only issue I have is the power drain issue, I've tried a different battery, I've reduced the library size to the same as my wife's but the problem persists.
Any ideas?
I'm not the most technical person, so excuse what is possibly a foolish question. I've had a 30gb 5th gen (video) iPod since 2005 or 2006, and the battery finally died. I bought an iFixIt kit and installed the new battery, but as I was sealing everything back up, something on the board near the click wheel turned cherry red, then black. Then there was the briefest curl of smoke--a surprise for me since I hadn't turned anything on yet.
I finished putting everything back into place, plugged it in, and, lo and behold, the battery works great. But now the click wheel won't work, and I can't select anything. My guess is somehow I shorted the click wheel, but honestly I have no clue. if I shorted it, is that still something I could replace? Or is it kaput because something started smoking on the board?
Hi. I found an old iPod classic. The battery went bad replaced it. Had to replace headphone assembly too because it ripped. However when I put in the compact flash with a 128 sd card I get a 1434 error in iTunes. Would trying on a pc help? I tried all the possible reformatting in disk utility.
Hi All
I am in need of someone who can do soldering for a very specific job for a small hand held electronics device
Specifically this job is what I am after https://youtu.be/crWU0Khyanw?si=Z-VUZvLJf3u-rUqK
Soldering a Taptic Engine to a battery for an iPod
Any recommendations please
Ideally within Manchester so that I can travel as I don’t want to post it out. I am based in Hyde SK14 postcode.
Thanks

I recently received a black IPod 5.5, and I noticed it got a white 30pin bezel surround. Is this correct or did I got a iPod that’s tampered with? Thanks
After trying to install RockBox, iPod Classic 7 turned off and will not turn on. I press the menu+select buttons but nothing happens (black screen), the hold switch was turned on and off. I connected to my computer, the sound of connection was, but the computer does not see iPod, I press menu+select again, but nothing happens, on Windows only the sound of disconnecting/connecting the device
