Subreddit of the Day (Oct. 25, 2013)
/r/GODZILLA
I'll start it was because of a Roblox game back in 2022 called Kaiju universe
In the Showa era and maybe Heisei, when flying monsters are shown in the air, there is a winding, whistling, almost chime sound that is heard during flight. Is that a deliberate foley meant to make the monster seem extra worldly or machinery being heard moving the model across the set?
I was doing my Japanese lessons on Duolingo when this happened.
So even though it's probable that with how well GXK is doing legendary will continue to use original villains I still thought this could be an interesting idea and might even fit that.
At the end of GvsK the novel it's implied that Ren Serizawa is still alive and might still be controlled by Ghidorah. My idea is that Ren/Ghidorah tries to do what it can with to get back at Godzilla and Kong through human means. This could be salvaging Mechagodzilla into a new mecha or Battleship style. For those who didn't see the movie Battleship the basic plot is that NASA uses a huge group of antenna's in Hawaii in order to send a message into space trying to contact other life out there. It works and these lizard people come to Earth in ships blow up some US navy ships while setting up a forefield around Hawaii. They want to use the antenna for their own purposes, I think it's implied that they are just a scouting party and will use them to send a message to the main force, and only a single destroyer crew can stop them.
My idea is that Ghidorah does something similar where it sends a message into space through human technology that would call a more powerful member of his species to earth in order to get revenge on Godzilla and Kong.
Just a thought I had and people will probably disagree but wanted to share it.
Personally, the two that stand out as the most forgettable (that I haven’t completely forgotten) are:
Ebirah: The design doesn’t really stand out as it just kinda is a giant lobster, it also doesn’t help that there’s another crustacean based Kaiju that’s one of the most popular Godzilla monsters in the fandom, and Ebirah is forever doomed to be in Destroyah’s shadow when it comes to that comparison.
Megagirus: This might be a hotter take. I constantly confuse Megagirus for Battra, the latter being to me the more interesting monster due to their lore. Megagirus is just kinda always there for me, cool wasp monster but that’s the only thing going for it.
There are other honorable mentions, Titanosaurus for example I only remember because of memes.
I’ve been avoiding pre-ordering on Hiya for the $30 delivery price. I’d rather buy through Amazon like I have with previous models. The Muto is not available for preorder there. On Hiya it says the product is now sold out and not able for pre-order anymore.
Did I miss the release? Did they get too many preorders?
I also ask because I saw another random shop on Instagram saying that the model will release in July of this year and still has orders open?
Curious if anyone knows what’s going on with this.
Why did they stop using the classic Godzilla roars after only using them in KOTM?? They sounded incredible in that movie and not only gave me goosebumps, but genuinely made me so happy hearing they were still respectful to the classics. I was actually moreso looking forward to possibly hearing them in the new movie, The New Empire, but was sorely disappointed in that regard. Did they lose the rights to the music or something? Someone explain please. Including the linked video (2:14), they are also used quite a few times in the first fight in Antarctica.
I love his content. So I'm asking you guys.
Minus the ones that can just fly of course
It was a good movie but I disliked how they made Godzilla always run away
I really liked the scale of the 2014 movie. Every time Godzilla was on screen, he felt absolutely massive. Every movement he and the MUTOs made felt like they had weight behind them. Nowadays, not so much. It’s my personal headcannon that the first movie was filmed from the perspective of the humans making them seem like they’re moving in slow motion, like how insects perceive us as moving in slow motion, letting them react much quicker than us. The new movies are just from the titans’ perspective, which is why it seems faster now. If we were to shift back to the human perspective, every new fight scene would seem as slow as the original 2014 film
