Please don't downvote. It's 6am, and I am in the process of coming out of a pain so extreme that I could barely talk. A 9/10, down now to maybe a 6/10 but it's still a struggle to breathe. I've had this before, quite often recently, I'd say weekly, and this combo, usually plus ibuprofen, is the only thing that gets me out of it, and usually within 30 mins of taking. I'm in a daze right now due to the pain. I've started out with a food intolerance app and I'm tracking my foods the last few days. Due to the relief coming from this combo of meds, it's likely an allergy/intolerance of some kind? If so, does anyone know of any gut related subreddits to check out? Does this sound like an allergy? I told my boyfriend if I die he needs to keep my cat... That's where I was at pain wise. I'm so desperate.
As far as I can gather, the difference between an allergy and an intolerance seems to be that an allergy is an immune response and the effects are close to immediate and an intolerance has more to do with digestion issues. Here is what I believe I am experiencing.
I am currently 29, however, when I was:
10 y/o: felt nauseous, anxious, sweaty a few hours after consuming white fish, I thought it was bad fish, but my whole family ate it. Grandma thought I was being picky when the next day I didn't want to eat it again. Every time since then, any "finned" fish causes the same reaction, either I puke after being nauseous, or I wish I could puke because it usually gives relief when I do (feeling of doom when I can't)
I tried every now and then in hopes that it wouldn't happen again, accused of it just being psychological etc and that I wasn't "allergic" because I ate fish for a long time with no issues (I don't mind the taste and I miss the variety in my diet) I also could eat prawns just fine (took me years to hear that finned fish and shellfish are different issues). Couldn't even eat chips from the seafood shop without puking (fried in same oil). Being able to eat prawns made people doubt it more.
25 y/o: instant reaction to bananas or within 20 seconds. Mouth begins to feel tingly/numb and perhaps a slight burning sensation going all the way down to throat... I always loved bananas and I still love the taste, but this issue is really annoying, I'll still go for a banana sometimes though, seems to be less intense if consumed with something like ice cream. Effect is most strongly felt for 15 or so minutes and then for hours later my tongue feels somewhat numb/fuzzy. Seemingly no other issues, MAYBE a slight tightness in the throat but I am willing to admit that part could be psychological as the numbing of my throat is an odd feeling and maybe then I start getting nervous ideas.
People around me have definitely come around to seeing the pattern with the fish, I undeniably get pretty unwell a few hours, I worked at a seafood shop for a few months where I thought "why not try the fish" 😂 was feeling cocky a few hours in that maybe I was in the clear, but no surprise I ended up puking out back at the end of my shift. Mum thinks the banana thing might be in my head, but shes not totally discounting it.
I guess you can see from what I write that there's something that really irks me about people thinking I'm being dramatic about it, I am a picky eater sometimes, but why would I randomly decide to be nervous to eat something like bananas which I've always loved.
Am I right to assume that the fish thing is an intolerance and the banana issue is an allergy? Is there any test that can confirm both of these for me, how accurate are they, and I'm not sure if this might sound like quackery, but I thought I heard that you could recover from an intolerance by slowly exposing yourself to small amounts, did I just make that up? Not sure if I'm misremembering. If it's not total BS, is there a chance you could do the same thing for an allergy that develops later in life like mine? (I feel weird saying I have a banana allergy because it's not something I'm as certain about like the fish as it's a more recent development.
Wat do
Make bananas and fish great again, please? 🙏
Family debate on Fortune Cookies (from restaurants in the US). Are they made with almond extract? My nut allergy kids have always had them. Thanks!
Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere or is a dumb question! I'm calling on Monday to my asthma doctor who also is an allergist to book an appointment and would really love experienced peoples' opinion on what to say.
I have never had allergic reactions before, but, after eating an avocado toast with everything bagel seasoning, my throat became itchy and it just felt like something was incredibly wrong. It faded after a bit, yet I was questioning if it was an allergic reaction. Since I live alone but was currently with others, I decided to test to see if I could figure out what it was, if it would replicate, and if me not knowing what was in what I was eating would affect it. Long story short through trial and error I had a blind reaction to everything bagel seasoning, not sesame (nothing more than tightness which might have just been residual), garlic, onion, or salt which only leaves poppy seed. The second reaction ended up causing my throat to itch, it felt like my tongue swelled, I couldn't breathe out of mouth for a minute or so (oddly enough could through my nose if it was slow enough), I couldn't swallow for several minutes, and I got extremely hot. It seems to be mild enough because it faded on it's own but regardless, I'm planning on getting tested to see if something is going on, especially since the reaction happened without me even knowing if I was eating poppy.
From my understanding, poppy seed is a relatively uncommon allergy and not often on the standard panels (please correct me if wrong, I've only been googling and searching this subreddit since basically all non-emergency doctors offices have been closed). Since this might be the case, when I ask for an appointment, would I mention that I think based off of trial and error that it might be poppy to make sure they can test for it? Or is that just stupid and they would have it on hand either way? It's a smaller clinic, owned by the doctor, and not attached to a hospital so I don't know if they would have the same resources, but it is a specialized allergy/asthma practice. Thank you for any help or advice!! And if I can just find this answer online and haven't looked in the right places please tell me off!
I’m 22 year old female. i was vegetarian for 4 years in high school, not sure if that matters. this spring i got tested for pollen allergies (for the first time in my life) , ireacted to almost everything (trees, animals, different fungus etc). it was a test on my skin. i was sent to my allergist to diagnose / rule out food allergies as i developed weird rashes & stomach issues a year ago. we decided that i would do food allergies test in fall bc i had to stop my allergy medications for that. in october i had a cocktail, and when i got home i ate few cookies with hazelnut/ cocoa filling that i had the most severe reaction ever. i had difficulty breathing, felt tightness in my chest & was very nauseous, my face was red & swollen, had severe diarrhea. after that i contacted my dr. i did skin prick test that showed 3 big allergies ( 3/3 on the scale) : tomatoes, oranges and chicken & small reaction to egg yolk, cocoa and potatoes. i’ve had acid reflux for such long time that i had canker sores in my mouth AND throat from it. since stopping eating these foods everything got quite better, but i still experienced stomach issues some days. i tried elimination diet before but as you can see from my allergies that it was quite impossible to come up with chicken allergy as it is thought to be “hypo allergic “. i had ig-e blood tests done that showed another set of allergies : peanuts, almonds, rice, rye flour and potatoes. im not sure how accurate the tests are, my dr told me to just avoid tomatoes and peanuts …. my gp said to me before that i may suffer from some kind of cross allergy between pollen & food? i also react to fresh apples (very hard stomach from gas) for example. i’m not sure if i should change my allergist or just stop worrying. thank you for your help, i would love to hear just some advice & other experiences.
The other day i was eating raw cranberries, and i began to react the same way in which i react to all forms of elderberry/flower.
Throat tightness Migraines Throat irritation Slight Swelling in tongue Congestion And the next 2 days my throat felt like i swallowed glass
I never have reactions to any other forms of cranberry, so i would assume its pollen, but the elderflower redbull made me have a pretty aggressive reaction like this as well. I assume it wouldnt have pollen in it.
Any advice would be amazing! Im very confused and sad because they were so tasty 😔
hi!! college student here who is struggling to find safe drinks. does anyone have any recommendations for safe alcoholic beverages that are free from sesame and tree nuts? thanks!
What would be an example of a possible false positive or borderline number on a blood test? My son (who has a peanut allergy) has eaten hazelnut many times yet his blood test showed it as 0.29. He also came up abnormal for soybean at 0.47 when he eats things with soy daily. I know allergies can develop any time but it just seems odd to me with those two. Any insight or personal experiences? It’s one of those things where I wouldn’t have known if we didn’t do updated numbers for his peanut allergy.
He also tested positive for multiple legumes after a mild reaction to green peas , again something he’s had many times until recently. The legumes were all below 1.5 but due to the reaction after ingestion, we’ve been avoiding these now.
If anyone can help me with next step, any advice is needed. I have had sudden onset of reacting to most about all foods, mouth lips amd swallowing diffficulty. No known allergies prior.
2 Er visits, IV Benadryl and steroid and now home w methylpred sine and he said go get an antihistamine. what do I do and does this calm down lost so much weight . have a NP but no one open till monday and how to proceed? What to try to eat and what to do
We started OIT for a dairy allergy 2 weeks ago. About 3 days ago we noticed a few of these bumps on her back, with each day and dose since then she seems to be getting more. I took her to the pediatrician this morning for a steroid cream and he said it looks like contact dermatitis or eczema (it was about half the size of this when I took her) Now after her milk dose today it looks like this (I think a lot of the really red areas are red because she was laying on the ground itching) Anyone ever experience this before? She had full body hives once but those were more welty, these look like red angry pimples. Contacted the allergist Friday morning, evening and this morning so hopefully they will get back to me at some point 😬
Not to get too far in the weeds but I live with severe debilitating ocd, manifested in germs contamination fear, I'm considered disabled because of how it runs my life. Everything I do is regimented and I eat pretty much the same things everyday. Pertaining to this about 2 weeks ago I woke up with a kinda scratchy throat and had a runny nose and general feeling of malaise. Went to the doc had a covid and strep test both negative but it didn't go away and I noticed things were worse at night. Symptoms being feeling of heat maybe pressure behind my eyes, like a warmth in my mouth and back of my throat, a slight headache, hands real hot, maybe dizziness(might just be from worry). I only eat once a day at dinner and the constant has been eggs. I eat 6 whole eggs and 6 egg whites at that daily meal with veggies and about 8 ounces of some meat. I went back to the doc as I'd feel better in the am and then less so in the pm. She thought it was a sinus infection and I've been on an antibiotic since Wednesday night. Woke up today feeling as a did before the meds. Now i fear it may be something else and my mind decided it must be the eggs. I don't have diarrhea or a cough or hives and no swelling of my tongue lips or tonsils as far as I can tell. No rash either. I'm just super scared right now because eggs are one or my base foods.
Sometimes after I eat, the outside of my nose gets extremely itchy and a bit red. It's not like the inside itching you get when you need to sneeze—it's definitely the skin on the outside.
It seems pretty random when it happens, but I’ve noticed it often involves some kind of processed food.
I’ve tried Googling it, but most results focus on the inside of the nose being itchy, not the outside.
Does anyone else here experience this? I’d really appreciate your input or thoughts! :)
I’m allergic to birch pollen, and I’ve always had issues with the fruits and veggie cross reactions, but I’ve never had any issues with nuts. I love hazelnuts, and I eat Nutella every now and then.
I went camping a year and a half ago and found out that hazelnuts grew on bushes in my area, so I decided to try one, since my friends were as well. My throat swelled up a bit and it was kind of scary since we were out in the middle of nowhere with no service.
I recently got a skin prick allergy test and had a severe reaction to hazelnuts. I’m really confused as to why I haven’t had any issues with them considering the test reaction. I even continued eating hazelnuts (roasted) after having my throat swell while camping and haven’t noticed anything concerning. Information online says that nut allergies happen whether or not it’s cooked since the proteins don’t change very much. Have I just been lucky or am I missing something? Should I avoid tree nuts for the rest of the life?
Coming on here to share an experience I had flying a long with BA yesterday. For context, I have a nut allergy that's relatively new. While never reacting airborne, I do not want to find out that's a new thing flying over water for hours on end.
This was my 6th time flying long haul with BA. They have always been wonderful. Usually no issue with pre-boarding, having announcement made, staff voluntarily showing me the allergen menu for inflight meals.
Yesterday I flew long-haul with BA. I contacted BA before flying (both before my flight out last week and a few days before my flight home last night) to notify them of my allergy. I informed the BA desk at the airport. Informed the gate agent. While preboarding I spoke to chief flight steward and the stewards in my section, once more requesting they make an announcement about my allergy and informing them where my epipens were. Flight takes off - still no announcement. I remind them. An announcement is made. This is all fine.
Then meal service comes around and what is the options: Turkey or - wait for it- a warm nut roast.
So here's my PSA. You can do all the leg work to try to make traveling as safe as possible and still get stuck 35k feet over the ocean with 6 hours to go in a plane that half your cabin is now eating warm nuts on lol.
Grateful I always carry my epipen and a ton of anti-histamines.
Here is a tip for finding allergy free foods faster in your google search bars.
The issue with searches is that they work by all the words in the search. For example: if you type allergy free pasta you will find allergy filled pasta, allergy free pasta, cheaper pastas, and some variation of allergy, free, and pasta. Usually the searches go off word by word so it can be especially difficult for longer searches.
Instead what you'll need to do is tag the important words, that way you either get only those searches, or see those searches first. In order to tag them, you use apostrophes (" ") in your search bar to get the things you need.
For the previous example: instead of typing in allergy free pasta, you write "allergy free" pasta. There you will find what you actually seek.
The apostrophes tag the important information you need so your search engine stays focused on what you want, instead of other things attributed to the words you put in. Like, say a person is telling a story, then they start rambling about a thing vaguely related to the story. The apostrophes are the equivalent of refocusing them back to the story.
In short, you know those times or videos where people use quotes around words but it comes off disturbing and strange, even suspicious? That is what you do to tag important information into your search bars.
It is much faster than typing in every allergy with free after it, looking for a food you want to eat that is allergy free, and spending (for me) hours just to find a food item that I can actually have.
Works with anything. Recipes, foods, drinks, companies, all you need to do is just put what you need in apostrophes: "-insert allergy here- free" then search away for whatever you want/need. Still check the food to be safe, but I promise it will be much faster now.
So when I visited my pediatrician my mother mentioned my epi-pen was expired (it was slightly less than a year out-of-date so it still worked, we just wanted to be careful) so the pediatrician filled a prescription for a new epi-pen. Cool, great, I can be even safer than I was before.
However, these ones look a lot different from the kind I'm used to, and I'm worried that if I ever have an emergency I won't know how to use it correctly. Can anyone give me a guide on how to use this kind? (Preferably including pictures???)
(If you're wondering about the stuff in the back, that's all empty and some of them have been for YEARS, I just have ADHD and keep forgetting to get rid of them. Also, sorry for the weird lighting, my phone's camera has been really weird about automatically brightening photos so I had to turn down the brightness a bit, hopefully you can still read what you need to)
For months now I’ve had any type of symptom related to eating food you can think of. Hot flashes, intense anxiety, fast heart/chest pain, dry eyes and mouth, shortness of breath, flushing, globus sensation, upset stomach, constipation or diarrhea, tingling throat, etc. This all started one night when I ate almond flour and had to call 911 because I started to hyperventilate and fainted. I suspected it could be a histamine intolerance but I’ve never gotten a rash on my body. I’ve been taking DAO and luteolin before meals. They work to an extent but I still get rapid heart rate and stomach pain. Does anyone know what this could be? I’ve went to the allergist/immunologist and they said they had no idea what was wrong with me. They even told me a histamine intolerance isn’t a real thing. I’ve been eating only steak, carrots, and rice for months. Yesterday I decided to try and eat some Thanksgiving food and it ended up going fine. The next morning I woke up with a swollen tongue and tight throat. I have such bad anxiety around these symptoms and everyday I’m afraid I’ll die. I’m tired of feeling unlike myself. Someone please help!!!
Hello everyone, I am doing a class assignment for creating a product for people that are all allergic to corn. This is the product that I made. It is not going to be a real product, It’s just to get an idea how to make one what do you guys think of this please give me your honest feedback about the new soda Thanks guys
Hey everyone, just a heads up! I was shopping on Michaels Makerspace earlier, and they’re doing 50% off all jewelry today only—including medical alert bracelets. I know how pricey these can get, so I thought this is a great chance to grab one for half the cost.
Unfortunately the sale ends in just a few hours, but I wanted to share in case it helps someone!
Thank you in advance to anyone with any advice or insight!
Just to set some context:
My fiancé has a Sesame Seed allergy (Sesame Oil is usually okay as long as it’s not used excessively) but it is fairly severe and she’s very sensitive to cross-contamination.
We regularly mention it when we go out to eat (although candidly not every single time which we probably should) and avoid anything with seeds, absolutely anything with tahini and try our best to think through anything that has a chance of cross-contamination (bread in an oven for an example).
Most of the time when she has been exposed, thankfully it’s been fairly mild where she eats anything that gives her that feeling, we leave as soon as possible, get a Benadryl or Zyrtec in her and she’s usually fine (although of course feeling sick after until it’s out of her system).
But few months ago, she had her worst reaction ever by having unlabeled chocolate that turned out to have tahini (won’t make that mistake again of eating anything unlabeled). And we ended up having to call the ambulance who gave her multiple shots of epinephrine and since then, we now do have a epi-pen that we have handy as much as possible.
That being said, both before and since this incident, we’ve noticed that a lot of restaurants we’ll tell the allergy to but then somehow it turns out that there’s cross-contamination, something in the food that they didn’t think about, etc. which can get really frustrating. So I was really curious if anyone has a somewhat tried and true method of either how to tell a restaurant about the allergy or a list of foods that you wouldn’t expect to be problems but they can be. (Especially because it seems like she may be more sensitive now than she was prior).
We also avoid restaurants that we know is a type of cuisine that’s heavy in sesame or tahini (Mediterranean, Israeli, etc) but we do enjoy sushi (and have honestly not had many problems - her reaction to tahini is much more severe than a rogue seed).
We’re both aware that eating out less or being extremely cognizant of what we order is the no-brainer, but I’d love any insight if anyone has around types of foods/restaurants/etc. they keep in mind by either having a sesame allergy themselves or with having a life with someone who does have one.
Again, thank you to anyone who took the time to read this and share your thoughts.
i ate starfruit for the first time yesterday night, my mouth became itchy and throat became scratchy and i assumed “well another fruit allergy”, im allergic to many other fruits as well. but it usually stops at the itchiness.
anyway the itching subsided after a bit but my throat remained scratchy. i woke up this morning to the back of my mouth sore, near my uvula area. so not exactly INSIDE my throat. along with mucus. looked at my mouth in the mirror, and sure enough the sides of the back of my mouth were red and irritated.
brought it up to my mom and she got annoyed (im a hypochondriac, so she deals with this a lot)
has anyone else experienced this? and is there an allergy medicine i should take?
So about like 15 or so minutes ago, I ate a shrimp. A SINGLE shrimp. And now I'm having a slur of symptoms.
My Throat feels extremely tight, it's hard to swallow and I cant breathe very well. My chest feels extremely tight and my lips are burning.
About 6 or so minutes ago, my stomach started hurting, and it's only gotten worse. I took a benadryl, washed my mouth out with salt water, and drank normal water. But it only feels like it's gotten worse. I started having diarrhea a bit ago, and my stomach only hurts worse every minute.
My grandfather was allergic to shellfish, and I want before I don't think? I haven't had it in a while.
Should I be concerned? Do I go to the doctor?
Thank you in advance :(
(Edit: I should clarify that I've told my grandmother and my father, and they just gave me a benadryl and said I was fine.)
My daughter (14 months old) is very allergic to eggs and sensitive to dairy (can have it when it’s cooked into things only.) And her pediatrician recommended we do allergy testing at 18 months. Has anyone ever experienced this with their littles ones and if so what was the experience like? I know nothing about what goes into allergy testing
i’m running out of safe foods and i think i need to figure out a way to deal with this soon.
I was recently diagnosed with arfid but i’ve been dealing with it for about 3 months after having a severe allergic reaction to bamboo and/or mushrooms which ended up becoming biphasic (second reaction 70 hours later). i had a third reaction to something unknown 2 months ago.
(allergist didn’t want to do an allergy test so i still don’t even know what i’m allergic to)
slowly i’m running out of safe foods and it’s becoming really scary. i genuinely don’t know what to do at this point because i don’t think i can thrive on the 4 safe foods that i have left.
So this year my food allergies have gotten worse. I have a night shade and dairy allergies. Ever since I was a kid I would get really sick either during or after thanksgiving. For a long time I chalked it up to stress but this year my husband reminded me I always get mashed potatoes and all of the turkey we have is seasoned with paprika or rosemary (rosemary gives me heartburn 😅) so this year I ate basically only sweet potatoes and was totally fine. It sucks so bad that my food has to be so plain but I’d rather not get sick. Anyway I just wanted to tell someone who would understand this struggle. 👍🏻
So early this yesterday morning (around 3am ish) I tried a new dish (a sorta tofu soup dish from a Chinese restaurant), I've had soup from this restaurant before so no big deal. I dk have a minor allergy to peanuts (non life threatening just taste spicy type of allergy) and a allergy to sulfates and sulfa. Around 8am ish I developed a kinda sore throat (more itchy than sore, and now that I think of it feels like hives in my throat). Around 10-11am I definitely a dry cough (non persistent cough but to there). Around 5pm I started having slight issue swallow saliva (no swelling in the throat) and about a hour ago I started to develop hives on my arm, hands, chest, and shoulders. I'm also slightly cold despite the heat being on and kinda light headed..I haven't ever experienced anaphylaxis (I did when I was a baby but I don't remember it) so I'm not sure if this is what that is. Should I go to the er or just take some Benadryl? Update: I went to the er after work like all y'all suggested and it turns out I have allergic reaction (the hives) and acute bronchitis (the other symptoms).
My 8 month old is allergic to eggs. Allergist said to have him avoid eggs completely (until a later date when we get him checked again) which also included any through my diet since he is breast feeding still. He also gets formula bottles since my supply is low so I can still feed him, but I’m wondering how long I should go before he can safely have my breastmilk again. Anyone ever go through this and have any idea?
Edit: To clarify a little more - I’m not necessarily worried he will have a big allergic reaction to the trace amounts that make it into my breastmilk, I’m worried that being exposed to it at all will interfere with his ability to grow out of the allergy. I’m imagining the allergist is hoping his body forgets it’s allergic to eggs and that being exposed to it again too soon could mess with that process. Appreciate any knowledgeable insight from anyone.
Hi all! I just need to know if I'm being overdramatic/paranoid/silly.. so, I've never ever had a food allergy in my life.. I just had a slice of pumpkin pie my grandmother made and after I was done eating it, my tongue had a burning/itching feeling to it and my lips are tingling. Nothing in my throat...odd thing is, I had a slice of my MIL pumpkin pie earlier and it was nothing out of the norm. Now I feel like I'm over thinking and it's making me feel itchy all over. I have no rash or hives, so I think it's just a mental thing. I took some allegra, but any clues if it could potentially be an allergic reaction. My mom says that's what it sounds like, but im not understanding why a slice earlier was fine but a slice now, I'd react. It's a very strong itching and burning on my tongue too. Any advice? Or am I just being utterly ridiculous?
So I have a pretty severe tree nut allergy; throat closes up, need an epipen/hospital trip any time it happens. I also have OCD (contamination and harm OCD mostly). I know there’s not really a sub category for allergies in particular but I think my tendency toward intrusive thoughts/anxieties and compulsive reactions to them is working against me in that regard.
Food is the most frequent place my contamination OCD appears, and i feel like if it weren’t for my allergy, i’d be so much more capable of treating it. The problem is that OCD is treated by exposure and response prevention, but ANY exposure to tree nuts causes a very real, immediate, and valid threat to my life. it is not safe to prevent response when i think i’ve ingested tree nuts(or about to). whereas when im having anxiety about a food being contaminated by other means (like afraid it was left out for too long and has deadly bacteria in it) it’s SO much less certain that i’m in danger, that it is quite safe to do response prevention and just wait it out and see that the food was safe, even if i’ve convinced myself it’s not safe.
This basically just causes my OCD to manifest in the form of triple, quadruple, etc etc checking and asking about ingredients and STILL not being convinced that a food is entirely nut free. and i want SOOO badly to feel comfortable asking just once or twice, because i hate the feeling of never being satisfied after checking something a million times. it makes me feel so erratic and irrational and i feel like people think im being way overly cautious.
But the problem with THAT, is that i cannot tell you how many times i’ve found out, after the /THIRD/ ask, that something has nuts in it, when the first two answers were no. it is so unimaginably infuriating. I feel like I have no choice but to just not eat unless I’ve either prepared a food myself, seen it prepared, or have a comprehensive ingredient list. and it makes me so so sad. because i want to trust people. i want to be relaxed about food. but more than anything i just am so tired of that feeling of dissatisfaction that just does not go away until i’ve actually eaten a food and been safe for hours after it.
and i feel like so crazy asking if there’s nuts in things like soup, or a beverage, or a dipping sauce, or a dairy/meat replacement, but the thing is, i have found nuts in every single one of those things throughout my life. and MORE! hot cocoa, a marshmallow candy, RAMEN??? and half of the time that i find it in something totally out of pocket, it wasn’t in the title of the thing. like yeah i found a ramen broth that was called “pecan broth” but i also almost drank a hazelnut flavored hot cocoa that was simply labeled as “hot cocoa.” i had to ask 3 times on that one before i found out, too. when i was a kid i found out one of the free dipping sauces at a japanese restaurant was cashew based but no one was told until we asked what it was (not even asking if there were nuts in it, we just jdidnt know what it was.) so i feel like, fucking CRAZY asking 5 times about the most random foods, but i’ve had so many close calls i feel like it’s justified. ive even had close calls when dear friends who love me very much and are keenly aware of my allergy have simply made a mistake. so am i crazy for never feeling fully safe??
i often feel like im being over dramatic about this but…. i just don’t wanna die and im so tired of having to be worried about dying from eating something because i asked twice and was given a wrong answer both times. i guess im just looking for solidarity and wondering if anyone else has OCD that interacts with their allergy in this way/how you deal with it.
any advice/stories/rants/words of consolation are welcome, i just want to feel understood!!
