Be Excellent To Each Other.

From eyeglasses, to office chairs, cherished childhood stuffed animals, and trinkets and toys. Doors, walls, furniture and floors, popcorn ceilings and ceiling fans. Appliances, kitchen utensils, drills, chainsaws, and machines of all ilk. Someone here is going to try to help you fix it when it's busted.

What we do

We strive above all to be a sub that provides a community service, and as such we hold ourselves to certain standards. Keep the comments on-topic, you can make jokes, it's fine, just don't go off the rails. Do not market anything here without asking the mods first (spoiler, we're gonna say no), don't be posting links to Amazon.com with affiliate codes in them either. Don't post about things you've already solved or made, /r/DIY is a better place for that.

Passing good fixes forward

Further to this goal of providing a service; If someone's comment provides you with a working solution to your issue (or if you just plain figure it out for yourself) post a comment singling out what the solution ultimately was and please flair your post as Fixed. Hopefully this will let future readers learn from our collective successes.

Posting for Maximum Effect

When you make your submission, post a detailed description of your issue and the friendly users here will do their best to sort you out.

Do your best to include:

  • A detailed description of the problem.

  • Detailed photos are often a plus. This can mean, for example, close up photos of a part as well as photos from farther back, and/or different angles, which give significant context.

  • If there is a part number or a model number on something you suspect or know to be at issue definitely include that.

  • A description of the event(s) or circumstances that lead up to or were present at the time the issue arose.

Safety

There are things that are too dangerous for us to handle here. This can include certain electrical jobs, or natural gas plumbing jobs for example. Rule of thumb, if there's any reasonable chance you could get hurt or killed if something went awry you'll probably be directed to find yourself an expert.

Basic Decorum

Don't engage in racism, sexism, creeedism, homophobia, transphobia, or general assholery. The banhammer is swift and unforgiving.

Last but not least. The Prime Directive

Above all else: Be Excellent to Each Other

Replacing an LED ring light

Hi all, just wondering how I would go about replacing this. The wires go into the little black box but there doesn't seem to be any way to get them out. I'm assuming I need to get the white and green/white wires out and plug a new set in from a new ring light?

Freezer issues, getting lots of freezerburn/ frost in fridge

About a month ago my fridge randomly started making a rattling noise that lasted all night like 12+ hours. by the time landlord came it had stopped

https://imgur.com/a/6jStT3b (was a lot louder in person drove me crazy I had to wear air pods with noise cancelling on all night at home)

Ever since then when I open the freezer randomly, theres a small layer of ice on everything.

The landlord wont do anything even though I sent her the video and followed up with the photos, she told me that the fridge is too cold and I just need to turn the dial down, buts its just on the "recommended" setting

and another time she was here for something else i pointed out the fridge and she told me its because i'm blocking the vents (which i wasn't)

It’s donated so much so the normal light bulb has cracked and the broken screw head is still on.

Can I just remove the whole unit and tighten the motor or something with mains off.

Thanks, in advance

How do I fix this?

I have put a hose down this drain and it does not back up. I think it may be the seals around the storm drain / gutter junction. Please help.

Problem removing gas-ram from office chair.

I need to remove the gas ram from my office chair so I can replace it. There are loads of videos on youtube of people doing this, none of them are applicable to my situation as every video I've come across shows the bottom part of the gas ram sticking out of the bottom of the base of the chair, so all they have to do is hit it with a hammer and it pops out.

The problem I have is that the gas ram is inside the base and doesn't stick out at all so I can't hit it with a hammer like everyone else does in the videos. Does anyone have any advice for removing it? If I can't remove it I'll just use a bit of pipe to stop it from descending by itself (thanks wikihow), but I'd prefer to replace it if possible.

Please see the attached picture.

How to fix these headphones

So I have been trying to get these headphones to last till christmas, and am looking for advice for anything that will stop the broken side from dropping as much. The issue is that the plastics shell is broken, and gluing isn't working.

Condenser kicking off

I’ve tried to upload a video with this post but it keeps failing. So I’ll explain what’s going on. I turn my AC on and I just get air blowing through the vents. I step outside and the condenser is kicking on for like maybe 30 seconds, then just kicks right off. Any troubleshooting tips? Thanks in advance

What on earth is going on. And does anyone have a fix for this absurd sound?

Maytag drier makes horrible sounds and it was way worse as the machine starts up

Does anyone know if this is an issue?

I went to a house that had a ceiling panel that was sagging like this in the basement. The vent runs over the panel, and HVAC is in the next room . Does anyone know if it's due to water or heat?
