Hey, 21M I just got into badminton this spring and only like one or 2 of my friends play w me but they arent as into it as I am. I live in Whitby and would be down to start a recreational badminton group where we can go to dropins/rent courts or even sign up for a league if yall are down. Doesn't matter to me what skill level you are just as long as ur chill and down to go 1-2 times a week.
Thinking about possibly getting a smartwatch from MTC electronics. Has anyone had any good/ bad experiences with buying anything from there?
Hi everybody! I’m looking to see if there’s any anime or comic book stores in Durham that resell Berserk trading cards. I’m looking for some for my boyfriend for Christmas and I know it’s somewhat niche but I thought I would try anyways! Thank you!
Are there any animal rescue organizations in the area that collect old Halloween pumpkins to feed rescue animals and/or livestock?
Was walking my kid around for Halloween around 630ish, as we passed the local park there are 2 guys with 3 adult dogs that looked like pitbulls. Almost 100% certain these were pitbulls. These 2 guys stayed at the park where they had no business being there for over an hour. Yes their dogs were leashed but these 2 guys had barely any control holding onto these dogs as they tugged, pulled, barked and lunged towards almost every kid that walked near them and other dogs. Listen, I get it, you have dogs that need to go outside but out of all the days to hang out at the park where there are literally dozens of kids walking by? and obviously kids are dressed up, running around and the dogs are either thinking they are being taunted or want to join in the fun.
It’s seriously disappointing we allow anyone even those with half a brain have access to animals , especially animals that can cause serious harm or death. I guess it’s the same with drivers licenses and other things.
For those wondering, I did ask them if there was a better place for them to be and I got the “stare of death from them” and growl from their dogs. Even when I got home to handout candy, I could hear the dogs still barking at people (I live 2 blocks from the park). It sucks because if something was to happen, those dogs would be put down at the carelessness of their owners and someone would get hurt, likely a kid here.
Anyways, that’s my rant. If you have dogs that are aggressive, just please use your brain and avoid situations that will cause harm to others and your dog because of your negligence.
Hey Durham folks! I’m a 35M, married to a 34F, and we have a 2-year-old daughter. We’ve been living in a townhouse in Windfields, Oshawa, for about 3 years now, but between work, family, and the daily grind, we haven’t had much chance to meet people in the neighborhood. Tonight, while we were out trick-or-treating, we saw a bunch of families our age with kids, and it got me thinking it would be nice to have more connections here.
Anyone have tips or advice on how to approach making friends with neighbors around here? It feels a bit awkward to just start randomly talking to people, but we’d love to build a bit of a community.
Any ideas are appreciated! Thanks!
Hello all, tittle is a given.
I have been looking for a job in Durham and we'll even outside of Durham and I do not even hear back! Is anyone else having this problem? Atleast an interview I can sell myself but I'm not even getting to that point.
I have 10 years experience in operations, hr, payroll and I cannot get anything. I don't have education in my background but I have first hand experience.
I alter my resume to job postings, use key words?
If anyone knows of anyone hiring can you drop company's below I would appreciate any help.
Thank you fellow residents of Durham!
I'm looking to get some extra practice in with a private coach during the winter months but wasn't sure what areas in Durham have indoor tennis/pickleball courts. I'm finding very few options, and of those options a lot require payment/ bookings (and they're almost never available). Does anyone know of any indoor courts that are free in Durham to be booked, or on a first come first serve basis??
We're relatively new to the Durham area. Wondering if anyone can recommend a good mechanic in whitby.
appreciate it!
Hello folks! Where can we get the car seat installation verified? It seems earlier fire station used to do them but when we called them they said they stopped doing it anymore. And also mentioned the best bet would be to check with library and/or transport Canada. I am due in less than a week and any suggestions would be appreciated!
Hello! A couple of weeks ago, the owner of the apartment building I live in shut the water off to replace a boiler. I tried running the water as soon as they were finished and some rust came out of the taps. It stopped flowing from the taps after a few seconds. Should I be more worried and inform my landlord?
Thanks

I know someone who has a 4 bed condo townhouse in Windfields, Oshawa that he rents out to 7 students. I'd like to see him get wrecked.
Will the recent immigration rule changes impact student enrollment and thus wreck slumlords like him?
I’m seriously tight on money right now but want to give out candies for the many kids in the neighbourhood. (😬I should have stocked up in advance)
I usually buy a couple of the large prepackaged Halloween bags but wonder if there are cheaper options available. Like…bulk barn? Would it be cheaper or more expense?
Any and all suggestions + ideas would be appreciated. Thank you all!
Hi All,
There have been a few posts in this sub about how difficult it is to date or find friends or activity partners in Durham leading to loneliness.
I did some digging and found that, as per Stats Canada (2021 Census), Durham region has a total of 239,455 people (110,415 Males, 129,045 Females) that are not married and not living in common-law. a few of them may be in a relationship, but large population is still single or divorced. mid aged residents with kids also adds to the complexity.
Apps like bumble or hinge match you up with people living in Oakville or Mississauga, which doesn't help because who wants to travel on 401 or 407.
There is no platform that is just made for Durham. I am trying to solve this problem and need your help.
If you think an app that matches you up with other Durham residents for date, friends or activity partners will help, then please join the waitlist below and provide me feedback to build it. Thanks for your support.
