Kinda fucked up this is allowed while receiving OTSU funding.
Certain MSA members have also walked into OTU pride club meetings and started beef and harassed members sitting in SHA or online.
Hello,
I was looking at the 2nd year course requirements for mechatronics engineering and realized vector calculus (calculus 3) was not required. I was wondering if theres any upper year engineers thats still took it regardless as it seems vital for any engineering program.
What should I expect as a first year engineer going into nuclear afterwards? Photos of the timetables would help too if possible.
Hi everyone,
I'm considering applying to an IT program at Ontario Tech University. Can anyone share their experiences?
On the syllabus, it said CHA. Is that the SHA building or is it something else. I'm genuinely confused.
Seeking participants for cybercrime research.
We are seeking research participants for a study regarding the impact of cybercrime experiences on psychological well-being. Cybercrime refers to any type of crime that occurs online or through the use of a computer, such as fraud, hacking, or harassment.

Hey everyone - quick question for you all
In my pursuit of applying for masters programs, I came across the Masters of Business and Analytics that Ontario Tech University is offering and was wondering if the MBAI degree is actually worth it in the workforce
Let me know what you all think
Thank you
Hey if anyone is looking for cheap alternatives for parking, my house is 5-10 min walk from the university and I would charge $50 per month. Dm for more inquiry
Stupid question but where can I heat up my food? I don’t know where I can find a microwave 😭
Has anyone gotten their acceptance letter yet? I applied right before the deadline in Dec but I wanna start looking for housing and stuff if I get accepted. Should I expect a rejection/acceptance by the end of month? Feb? I know it depends per person, but when did you guys get it ? and if you did when did you apply?
Not referring to the presto app with the bus ticket itself. What app do you use for bus times, bus routes etc? Are there any bus apps that can tell you when the next bus is drop-off or not in service or anything like that?
I use google maps but I'm curious if there are other/better apps you guys use. Thanks in advance!
Edit: I don't know if it matters but my phone is android.
🩷✨️ I got a conditional offer! That was pretty quick. I know I've still got time to decide but I've always wanted to be in the nuclear industry. Also if there are other girls who got an offer for engineering at otu could you please PM so we can start a group chat or something? I don't want to be alone in uni. Thanks. 😊
Hi guys,
Currently I'm a grade 12 high school student who got into Ontario Tech's Computer Science Honors program with Co-Op and I was looking at their first year courses, does this mean I'll have to exactly take:
Two electives*
CSCI 1030U – Introduction to Computer Science
CSCI 1060U – Programming Workshop I
CSCI 1061U – Programming Workshop II
CSCI 2050U – Computer Architecture I
MATH 1020U – Calculus II
PHY 1020U – Physics II
One of:
MATH 1000U – Introductory Calculus + or
MATH 1010U – Calculus I +
One of:
PHY 1010U – Physics I + or
PHY 1030U – Introductory Physics +
I'm in the "Networking and IT Security" program which only offers internships after completing two years of study.
Looking through the student life portal (internship/coop portal) there are some jobs that have "(coop)" next to the job title. The targeted programs listed include mine, so are those exclusive to coop students? Should I apply anyways? Also, if i do, in the application form when they ask if I'm in a coop program in an accredited university do I put yes or no?
I also have the same questions but for jobs outside the school portal.
Appreciate any help.
Hey y'all,
I'm a first year in biomedical science who transferred to Ontario Tech from Waterloo this semester (winter 2025) due to ongoing health treatments in Toronto. I know it's only been a few weeks since the semester started, but I've just been so lonely here and I'm scared I won't be able to make friends since I started here at such an odd time.
Is it really impossible for me to make friends this late into the year? I never attended any orientation and people leave right after class, so it seems hopeless. On top of that, I'm a commuter student so there's even less chances to socialize. I've tried joining some clubs but that hasn't been working out either. I don't know, I guess I've just been feeling a little down and hopeless because of this. Any advice?
are there any good study spaces on campus (other than the library) for a group of like 4-5 that also has outlets and isnt super busy? (and ideally doesnt require booking like the erc meeting rooms but its okay if they do as long as we can stay there for around 3-4 hours)
hi! does anyone know how this course was? the content itself is hard but i’m managing okay. i just struggle with focus during his three hour lectures. would you say i need to attend the lecture regularly?
Has anyone notice new bidets being installed in the accessible washrooms? Are those sanitary to use and is there one in all of the buildings (yet)?
Hi so I have accepted my offer to the nursing program with my grade 12 courses (functions, chem, English, bio, history, physics)! I’m very excited to give nursing a shot! If I find that it isn’t the thing for me, can I switch after first year and what would my options look like?
I’m mainly looking at switching to biomedical science so that I could pursue optometry or pharmacy and have those highschool pre-reqs. But what if I love physics (we are about to start second semester of grade 12), and I want to switch into Nuclear Engineering? I think you need calculus for a lot of engineering programs. Would there be a way to take a necessarily pre-requisite online? How would I do that?
And is it easier to change programs during the year or after first year?
Thanks!
(Hopefully I’ll be happy with nursing and not need any of this!)
I have to take stats this summer and I was wondering when we’ll be able to register for the spring/summer term. Can’t seem to find a date on the school website.
Currently in my first year of CS and am thinking about changing over to Gamedev. Not really enjoying it as I want something more hands on and less theory. Also not the biggest fan of math. Im concerned about employment opportunities after graduating. Does anyone know how difficult it is to get a job with the gamedev degree? Would also like to know how it compares to the CS program. Thanks.
Hey guys I'm going to meet my academic advisor but I wanted to ask reddit in the meantime. I am considering switching my program from automotive eng to Energy eng. I'm in my first year and I was wondering whats needed to switch so like gpa, prereq courses and anything else. And whats the process like?
Then why aren't those suffering in pain being told their pain is make believe, when they require heavy duty pain meds . This has and is the main drive fueling the OPIOID CRISIS;! If you were insulted and accused of drug seeking by your physician the pain (chronic) will get worse without treatment, the proper one decided by patients personal pros/cons to experiment with doctors help. Instead people feel depressed, hopeless and bitter towards healthcare because the system failed them. Now this leads to self-medicating with narcotics ( like fentanyl) off the street, all because a doctor was judging them instead of helping them enjoy life again . How to end this drug war to better the world for future generations?
for those who had this prof for intro to poli sci what are his midterms like, like what types of questions does her ask
is their a discord for poli sci students?
I mean campus life is okay, I have a friend group too but still deep down I just feel really lonely in my dorm or sometimes even when I'm hanging out with my friends. There's this feeling as if nobody knows the real me maybe it's because I'm non a domestic student but still I didn't find hard to fit in but I kind of feel like I don't know myself anymore
Why does the subway in UA not take flex dollars does anyone know the reason for this or am I just wrong and they do now?
Was wondering if anyone has taken ever this course, who could offer me some help with understanding the material and assignments. Algorithms and Data Structure INFR2820U
Hello recently I did a bursary and it went through, after this, my account summary went in the negatives, so I made a refund request. The refund request was accepted soon after, and suddenly the total amount in my account summary increased because an extra thing came that said REFUND FEE. I would just like to know if this is normal and if I'm still receiving a refund.
Edit: The refund went through
