Title!
I want to know if there's a hub for these schools like D1 baseball has?
Thank you!
Belated Happy 165th Birthday to Division 1 College Baseball which marked its anniversary this month!
To all of you our growing college baseball fans, I greet you all a Happy US Thanksgiving Day and a reminder that the Thanksgiving weekend serves as the two month mark before a brand new season of collegiate ball, our 166th year, begins in January 2025 with NAIA and JUCO leagues.
John
PS: What are you all thankful for this year? Also, expect that we will begin next year the commemorations of the first Division 1 college ball game in November 3, where Fordham faced Xavier High, on the 166th anniversary.
With the fall season finally over, college fans what do you think of the season?
Any names you hope to make it in the final spring rosters for your colleges and unis? And did you enjoy it so far?
Hello everyone! Does anyone have any advice on how to become a baseball student manager in college? I’ve (Senior) been the manager for my school’s baseball team since my freshman year and it’s a duty and responsibility I’m very interested in continuing at the collegiate level. Anything helps; thank you!
Hi folks. I'm writing an article on the great experimental filmmaker James Benning. Before he got into making art movies, he played baseball for the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. I'm looking for any information about his playing career and stats; he seems to have played for the 1962 and 1964 seasons only.
I generally don't follow college ball, so I was wondering if there's any resource out there alá Baseball Reference that had college stats that go back that far. Right now I'm flipping through old issues of the Milwaukee newspapers, and poking around in the UW-M archives, but was just curious if I'm overlooking something obvious that's out there.
Thanks - hope this is within the sub's guidelines.
I mean would you rather spend 3 years slumming in the majors or be at a top college? I hear horror stories of the shitty resources minor league teams have. Compare that to places like LSU for sports?
I mean are the signing bonuses bigger than one these players can get from NIL?
But be warned, opening day falls on Valentine's Day. Gonna be a dicey situation to maneuver around for some of us.
Just saw UCONN's schedule and saw that they're playing in the Puerto Rico Challenge. Is this a new in-season tourney?
We're finally down to the final weeks of collegiate fall ball for 2024. Congrats to all the collegiate players on the Dodgers - as well as those on the final MLB Gold Glove awards list!
Also, the WBSC Premier12 begins as well - our wishes to the collegiate alumni on Team USA.
Any thoughts on the season so far and any names to expect next year as we are down on the final weeks of fall ball?
I was kinda inspired by an earlier post about team’s consistently struggling in spite of resources, and wanted to know what programs y’all think do the opposite of that.
I think a perfect example of this would be Keith Guttin’s tenure at Missouri State, he managed to get them to 12 NCAAT appearances and even the program’s first appearance in the CWS and constantly had to tussle with richer teams while doing it.
It seems like the only time college baseball actually gets any kind of attention is during the College World Series.
Maybe if they broadcasted more games on the 4 major networks, they might get more.
