USC vs UCONN 💭

Wow....just finished watching the playback of this game because I missed the live broadcast. This game definitely lived up to the hype. So y'all know I got to give my thoughts about this one & I want to hear y'all's. Some of my thoughts.....

Juju Watkins to me just had her best game of her short college career to me. I know she's had way bigger scoring games but I'm taking into the context the atmosphere. On the road and against the former NPOY and future No.1 overall draft pick. She played the game I've always wanted Juju to play. Blending her scoring prowess with great smart decision making. Trusting her teammates. Let her scoring gravity open things up for her teammates. Came out in the first half with 15 points. But it was her defensive aggressive for me. Blew up a screen which led to fast break points on the first UCONN possession told me she was ready. 2 big blocks on Paige shots. She was absolutely locked in. Her ability to get to her spots no matter what the defense is doing is beautiful to watch . 2nd half UCONN did a phenomenal job ball denying Juju but she never got flustered & when it was time to close out she put it away. She is everything people say she is.

Paige Bueckers was also very good. I kind of feel bad for Paige because at this point the expectation is so high. She was efficient as usual . Made some tough shots & I respect the fact she didn't back down from the Juju matchup. She guarded Juju majoring of the game which I appreciate. I'll say this and it has nothing to do with Paige faults more so my problem with Geno's system. His offense is predicated on movement and I get that but i have a huge problem not having the ball in my best players hand majority of the time . Your system should never be so rigged that it works against your best players. Paige is a great solider so she'll never rock the boat & ask Geno to just give her the ball but sigh....on another note SARAH STRONG is a damn superstar! As a freshman to be so good, efficient, and fundamentally sound at her age is insane.

Big win for USC....as a team they looked more coherent. The offense looked much better today. They found KiKi in this offense finally. UCONN has lost both their big matchups (ND & USC) ...They still have South Carolina so I'm reserving judgment on this group until then.

Any new season ticket holders for 2025?

Did you become a season ticket holder for the first time after 2024, before 2025? How was your experience? I'm on the waiting list for season tickets (but not holding my breath). Curious to know what the process was for other new ticket holders.

Existing season ticket holders, I realize you have valuable advice to share, but I believe the process was changed given the influx of interest, so I'm specifically asking for new season ticket holders!

Kamilla almost got a triple double today!

Kamilla’s stats against Zhejiang: 24 PTS | 19 REB | 8 AST | 2 STL

She was the leading scorer, rebounder and playmaker for Shanghai. Her ability to process the game super quickly and play make is one of her greatest upsides imo. Excited to see how Tyler uses that side of her game next season.

Interview with Coach Tyler Marsh

I enjoyed this interview... it was more so about Coach Marsh

  • Reiterated that he choose the Sky because Jeff and him aligned in values and thoughts about where the game of basketball is headed and how the Sky fit into that picture.

-Talked about team chemistry, and said it's not so much about the players/teammates being friends off the court (he did say that this was a plus), but it is important that they respect eachother.

-Says that over the past couple of weeks, they have been looking at developing the coaching staff and have reached out to some people

-He did interview with one other team but ultimately chose the Sky

-Excited for free agency and draft. They want to bring players that align with what they need but also align with the values and personalities of the team. They have also been looking at overseas players as well.

-His wife also played apart in him choosing Chicago because it allows her to be closer to her family.

-Loves Chicago because it is a good sports city.

-Marsh is a fan of wrestling and baseball

I definitely recommend listening to this interview for yourselves but this was what I got from it.

How to buy tickets?

Hi everyone, I was having trouble finding info on this so I thought I would try posting here. My mom and I are trying to get home game tickets for the 2025 season, but when I go to the Sky website and go to single tickets, it does not show any home games.

We have found stuff through third party vendors, but my mom is a bit wary of this and would rather purchase directly through the Sky. Does anyone have any helpful info? Are most tickets just not available yet? Thanks!

ND vs UCONN Thoughts 💭

•Hannah Hidalgo is as good as advertised. That young lady is made for the big stage. She has no fear and she wants to rip opponents hearts out they chest. She's officially my NPOY Frontrunner. Going on JuJu floor and smoking USC then cooking Paige tonight. Yeah we need to start having new conversations on who's the best player in the country.

• Paige Beckers had a weirdly good game. It never felt like she put her imprint on the game which has been her biggest knock. Ultimately she got going but the momentum was ND all game. Also Geno has to come with better adjustments. I don't think he did his team or Paige for that matter any favors. I need Paige to turn up.

•Olivia had a scary tonight spraining her ankle but ultimately came back and did what she typical does. Complete control of the game. One thing I've been fairly impressed with Olivia this year is the fact we all know she's an elite on ball playmaker but it's been her off ball work allowing Hannah to take the lead that's impressive. Showing layers to her game that I appreciate.

•Sonia Citron was very solid today. Again her on ball defense was very impressive against Paige. She makes you work so hard offensively to get clean shots. Her length continues to bother these guards. Only took 7 shots today but again she just doesn't make many mistakes. Ultimate Glue-Guy player. High basketball IQ. Cutting off dribble drive opportunities. I selfishly want her be more offensive aggressive but I understand her team dynamic with two of the best guards in the country, she kind of have to get in where she fits but her impact is there when you watch them play!

Also i wised the Sky had a 2nd round pick. Liatu King is such a fun player. Would love to have her. Hell of a game tonight.

Coach Ivey is absolutely in the conversation of the elite coaches. (3-0) against Geno 😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨

Top Choices at Pick #3

These are the only players in consideration for Pick #3 for the Chicago Sky IMO.

Olivia Miles PG, Notre Dame 5’10” | Pts:17.2   Reb:6.7   Ast:6.6   FG%:54%   3P%:46%

A playmaking guard of Miles' caliber makes a ton of sense for the Sky as they continue to work to build a contender step by step.  Miles, who missed the 2023 postseason and all of 2023-24 because of a knee injury is a savvy playmaker and true playmaker.  Miles is shooting the ball well early this season, but she has been poor from behind the arc throughout her career.  Miles' dynamic style could energize the Sky and complement their existing roster.

Sonia Citron WING, Notre Dame 6’1” | Pts:14.9   Reb:6.4   Ast:2.5   FG%:44%   3P%:34%

Citron is a perfect fit for the Sky.  A player that can play off of Chicago’s frontcourt,  with her ability to cut, space, and move without the ball, and contribute to its defensive presence.  After she recovered from an early season knee injury, she has shown to be capable of defending multiple positions, knocking down the 3 on volume, and attacking the basket in a variety of ways.

Shyanne Sellers COMBO GUARD, Maryland 6’2” | Pts:11.7   Reb:4.2   Ast:5.5   FG%:47%   3P%:33%

In many ways, a combination of Miles and Citron, Sellers is an incredibly well rounded guard/wing.  Sellers has a very strong foundation of skills, a capable tough shotmaker, driver, facilitator, and defender.  She possesses elite size for her position and good athleticism that she’s able to use offensively and defensively.

Kamilla's Stats from Today's Game

I will comment the link to the game in the comment section. Kamilla played the whole game (which I hope isn't a reoccurring thing because I don't want any injuries for her). She had a really strong first half, some nice cuts to the basket, good post up, and a nice jumper or two, and she made some great passes. The second half was rather quiet for her because she was tired (understandable). Defensively, she is still jumping at pump fakes, so I really hope she works on that, and her perimeter defense against bigs could still use some work. Overall great game from Cardoso.

Prospect of the Day: Shyanne Sellers (PG) Maryland

Shyanne Sellers: Maryland 6’2 (PG) Career Numbers:

45% FG 32.8% 3pt 81.7% Ft 12.3pts 4.1ast 4.8rebs 1.6stls

  • Sellers is such a interesting prospect. The first thing you notice watching her is the startling size she comes with. Being 6’2 at the lead guard position in a league that’s thirsty for size at the position is a clear advantage. What you quickly learn is Shy is more then just size, there’s substance to her game. Shyanne loves to get downhill having the strength to plow through defenders & finishing with contact. She’s also very good at drawing fouls, last year she averaged 6 trips to the foul line connecting on 84% clip. She’s a career 81% FT shooter. Shyanne also loves operating in the PnRoll. One thing you’ll notice watching her is she operates at her own pace, defenders don't bother her. She just gets wherever she wants on the floor. She loves to post up smaller guards almost playing bully ball at times. At 5.5 ast per game last year, one of her best skills hid her passing. This where her size becomes a problem for defenses. She simple can see over most defenders guarding her & she confidently whips passes all over the court. There’s no pass she can’t make. Pocket passes in PnRoll, cross court passes to open shooters in the corner. Drop off passes to bigs on drives to the rim. She can handle it all showcasing her lead guard skills for the next level. Defensively she’s tough to deal with because of her length. For her career she averages 1.5 stls per game, she’s lives in the passing lanes. Very good rebounder for a guard. Average almost 5 per game for her career. If there’s one thing Shyanne needs to continue to improve is her perimeter shooting. Career 33% 3pt shooter although she’s shooting a career high 37% from 3 her senior year. Want to see that maintain as the season progresses. One thing I personally love about Shyanne is she’s not scared of the moment. Has made some big shots over her career. Plays big in big games. Against South Carolina last year 21/8/3. Against Iowa 14/8/7. Against Illinois 18/11/9. In BIG10 tournament against OSU 25/7/8.

Fun Fact: Shyanne and Angel Reese played together at Maryland freshman year.
