📢 Melo doesn’t get the respect he deserves.
Carmelo Anthony was one of the best pure scorers in NBA history. 10x All-Star, 6x All-NBA, Scoring Champ, Olympic GOAT, and yet… he’s barely mentioned in all-time discussions. • No MVPs despite elite seasons • Carried weak teams in Denver & NY but still blamed for losing • Blackballed from the league when he could still hoop • Influenced today’s stars (Tatum, Booker, PG13), but never gets credit
I break down why Melo is the most underrated player of all time on my YouTube channel ProphetG6 if you want to hear my full take. Posting tmrw!
🔥 What do y’all think? Where does Melo rank all-time? Let’s debate.
I’m not into any sports, but today, for the first time, I watched an NBA game (Memphis vs. Milwaukee). Oh man, what entertainment! tho I’m outside the US and don’t know anyone from the teams, still enjoyed it a lot. Not sure why I hadn’t tried watching basketball earlier, haha
I liked Jackson Jr, he played really well. And from Memphis, there’s another guy who made some incredible long distance shots (sorry, I forgot his name).
Overall, it was a great experience and definitely worth watching!
Dude I’m a bulls fan and I don’t even understand the logic behind this trade. Like even if you didn’t want to extend Luka (which is stupid also) I’m sure dangling him in front of 29 other teams would’ve gotten you more. But I was just thinking about how this would affect the mavericks from ticket sales to merchandise. Like are they seriously going to sell Luka jerseys full price the rest of the season? What about all the fans that have signed memorabilia from him and all the advertising he’s in?? Like logically from a business standpoint… how was this a smart business decision, screw the basketball aspect which is stupid also lol. I just wanted to write this thought in my head out, would love to hear some thoughts if any.
Hey everyone, just wanted to put this post out here to see if anyone who's gone through a similar situation can give me some advice. So long story short, I tore my meniscus in my left knee in July 2024 and I had surgery on it in September. I went through PT until December and in January I joined a men's league and started to try and get back on the court, even just at half speed. My left knee has felt pretty stable and reliable while playing, although I do get a bit of pain in it every once and a while. However, my right knee seems to be getting worse, as it has started to feel unstable and has been painful more often during and after playing. I wear pretty good knee braces on both knees. Right now I have been trying to work on my spot up shooting in between games, but when I went to workout today I had to stop due to pain in the back of my right knee.
Should I continue playing in my men's leaue games and doing on-court workouts in between that, or should I pivot to physical therapy exercises exclusively and try to strengthen the muscles that support my knees before going back on the court? Any advice, especially from people who have gone through this, would be greatly appreciated! Thank you all!
EDIT: What I mean is that there’s only 12 minutes in a quarter, and idk how ppl can score 50 points in 12 minutes (with some free throws lol)
I’ve joined a rec league with some friends, mostly for fun, but obviously we still want to try and win. I (M 26) am not really good at anything when it comes to basketball apart from defense…. Dribbling basically non existent, shooting so inconsistent, agility in the air also terrible. The only thing I can do is pass really, especially since I’m not the tallest so I can’t really rebound either. I’m looking for some good practice drills or videos I can watch and try out on my own before our games. Any tips 😅 I don’t wanna feel like I’m letting my friends down even though this is a for fun thing
The Razorbacks beat Kentucky 89-79 in Coach Cal's return to Rupp Arena. What impact does this have on each team? Thoughts on the game?
Genuine question, how is this not a travel or double dribble?
I understand you can self lob but I didn’t know you can take additional steps after if it doesn’t hit the rim as a shot and/or pass to another player. I thought it had to be all in one motion, as he would have to catch and shoot again in mid air. Kind of like what Ant Edward’s did last year.
Since this wasn’t called, I assumed it’s legal but insane that you can take 5-6 steps without ever dribbling the ball. Also if it’s also been legal I don’t see why people don’t take advantage of this move more often.
My main problem is I get blown by a lot, how can I stop this from happening?
I’m a 15 year old girl and I’m not very tall (5’5). I’m interested in learning to play basketball but I have no idea how to start. I don’t want to do anything professional it would mostly just be for fun. I’d like to play on my high school’s team at best. The only athletic things I’ve ever done is dance and cheer. My school’s basketball team isn’t all that competitive, but still I’d want to go into the auditions (idk what it’s called for sports, as you can see I’m NOT a sports person) knowing at least a little bit. Is there like any youtube channels I could watch to practice? There’s a park with a basketball court like 10 minutes from my house so I could go there to practice but like is there anything that could help me? I don’t want to be the best at basketball I just want to maybe play on a team and try it.
So all year the only thing I’ve heard about is how viewership is down, people hate the way the game is played now, and Jimmy Butler drama which nobody cares about but that’s the only other storyline they got to talk about. NBA is in trouble with the viewers. All of a sudden, before the deadline is even near, a TOP 5 player in the league, MVP material, all the tools, once deemed untouchable, and an undeniable cornerstone to a franchise, is traded to a TOP market (only New York is larger according to Hoop Social in 2022) for a very good, but aging and often injury prone, Anthony Davis. So a top NBA player is now playing alongside the most famous NBA player in questionably the biggest market in basketball in 2025. Now there is something to talk about, to watch, all in front of the most eyes.
This was not a trade. This was an executive order. Adam Silver is the GM of this trade. Time to write new storylines for the latter half of the season and get the TVs turned on again.
Hello, since AD been traded to Mavs , is it most likely the price of AD's jersey will be cheaper ?
I’m gonna become a basketball referee just to eject Angel Reese from games.
Im 17 and 6ft and haven't done a sport like my whole life. I was always told I should try basketball but haven't really been motivated to until now. there aren't any basketball academy's near me just a half court. What should I practice and learn to become good at basketball??
I ran x-country and track in high school and we used to stretch everyday. I kinda stopped stretching after that. I started pickup ball in college and 20 years later I still don't stretch. Is this bad?
OMG LUKA WENT TO THE LAKERS FOR ANTHONY DAVIS yall what is actually happening right now 😭😭😭😭 it’s actually real
Hey everyone, I hope all is well. AAU tryouts in my state are approximately in 1 month (March 1st - March 7th) and I really want to have a shot at playing. I have never played organized/highschool basketball but I do play quite a lot and couple run 5v5 very decently. I am a 6'2/3 17yo who primarily I like to play shooting guard. My shooting is average, ball handling is slightly above average, but my best asset is my IQ and passing. In terms of athleticism I would estimate I have a 24" inch max vert (Yes I know it's shitty) but I haven't done proper vertical training so I would assume I could increase by a couple of inches before tryouts. I also have extremely well stamina, at 192 pounds or 87 kg. I well try to cut just because I feel most of my weight is fat rather than muscle so I will also focus on that. My main question is how do I train specifically for this? I have my fair share of lists of routine (like shoot around, ball handling drills, etc) but I have had no so much success in improvement. What is a great routine that you have done in the past to train every skill and get better as a player?
Hey guys! First time poster here I tore my acl and meniscus about a year ago. It seriously messed me up and I’m still in pain every day. I was cleared to return to basketball by a physical therapist and a doctor after 8-10 months! My question here is how do I hide my injury when I play basketball? I am ok to play and I my knee and leg is stable but I notice that sometimes I favor my knee/leg or I am less aggressive on that side. This makes a certain level of sense to me because of the injury but is there any way to be more confident about that side or to hide my injury in games? I’ve noticed some players attack the side I’m injured on. That tells me that it’s obvious to them that I am injured (might be the way I’m walking or moving) Is this just something I have to deal with until I’ve healed more? Or is there something I can do to minimize it looking like I’m hurt or injured and have other players taking advantage of it? Any help and support would be appreciated!
Everyone knows the greats of the past would do well today. Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Magic etc would of course thrive in today's NBA.
Which good player from the 80s/90s would have a hard time?
Basically title.
If you could go back and talk to your high-school self, what would you say? What advice would you give?
I’m going to have an opportunity to talk with my old high-school team. I’m 35, and went to a small school with a very competitive program. I was a standout player from many years ago, and have loosely stayed connected with players, families, coaching staff. I even show up to some of the schools open runs and show the young bucks a thing or two.
But if you had the team as a captive audience, what would you say? What advice would you give?
I’m leaning towards 3 things:
don’t wait. I found myself waiting to make improvements. “I’ll fix that my sophomore year” “I’ll work on that this summer”
have fun - you will absolutely play your best ball when you buy into the coaches scheme and enjoy it.
basketball is bigger than highschool or college. Basketball is a lifelong relationship, what you invest into it, you’ll carry with you forever. Even as an old man (compared to highschoolers) I still use basketball as a way to stay in shape and maintain community!
I got into basketball a few years ago and have gotten pretty knowledgeable but never playing as a kid I struggle to understand things like plays and terminology. Are there any articles or YouTube videos that you recommend that could help explain things like motion offences and weird terminology?
Hello guys, I'm a noobie hooper and I literally just started/learned about basketball yesterday. When I played some pick up with my American friends, I was conscious everytime I jump to get a rebound because I'm afraid that someone might step on my ankle or maybe I might step on someone's ankle. This consciousness stems from the fact that I am a very heavy dude. Any tips on how to overcome this? I really want to play more freely.
I’m 45 and just started playing pickup 2 on 2 at my gym. I have noticed younger guys 15-25 don’t talk at all while playing. I complement there play and make small talk and get absolutely no response. Has anyone else notice this?
It's not that I have a problem with people just getting into the game, it's that on defense, all they do is fucking hack. The other day I was playing against my homie and he brought his friend, and all bro would do is reach his arms out and grab me every time I drove in, push me in midair, or close out and get his feet right under where I was about to land. I tried to give him advice but man that shit was a hazard to my health.
From what I understand, a #1 draft pick can get a 2-year deal worth about 22 million. Would that be enough to keep someone like Flagg. Or are there other monetary factors?
For context im 6"2,5 15 years old 16 im 5 months my dad is same as me mum 5"4 great grandparent was around 6"8 other one was also around 6"5 i play on the wing and i average 20 even get some pt in lower pro divisions i just really want to get to 6"9+ i love the concept of a tall wing like a kevin durant or brandon ingram i just dont know if ill have to change my game and become a normal sized guard or if i can keep the kd playstyle ( i have size 14.5 shoes and a wingspan around 6"8 i grew 2 inches in the last year)
Been a few years since I played seriously and gotta show some fools up at work. Used to be captain on my varsity team, 3A Washington. Nothing crazy but I’m 6’5 played the 4 and 5. Any workouts you’d recommend specifically to knock off the rust?
Can yall settle a debate for me? My friend insists that more people ride motocross than play basketball… please end this debate
